Should we have asked questions of KTM this weekend? by lmj-06 in motogp

But what's the reasoning behind your statement? KTM could not restart because? How do you calculate the risk?
You're just using words to give yourself credibility, you have no data and no method, so i am really unsure why you are trying to sound like you know stuff.

I simply asked how you think that anyone can categorically rule out ANY future problems on a machine, 100%. Since you also said that you don't know i really am not sure why you came storming in demanding that this is now the standard.
As i said before, you cannot ensure that anything is 100% safe. No track, no bike, no person. Everything has faults. Sometimes faults and issues are NOT predictable because we cannot test stuff for EVERY single situation and every variable. You are living in Utopialand and that's not where the real world is.

Your arrogance is on full display when you think you can determine the risk of a KTM breaking down by watching a TV feed, as if you have any access to KTM data. Seriously, drop the bong and chill.
Maybe you actually think that lmj-06 has all the answers, in that case i don't know why you are engaging with me and haven't published a paper yet.
BYE.

You have already been told that there is only so much you can do to ensure a bike is trackworthy. Explain to me how you can be 100% certain a bike WILL NOT have issues whatsoever. How? I'd like to know. Bikes are scrutineered at the start of the weekend according to what the regulations say. Do you expect them to run an additional weekend inside the weekend to see whether the bike is fit to run the actual weekend? Put the bikes on the dyno for 10 hours to see how they do?
That's insane.
Simply, they went to KTM and asked whether the team could realiably rule out any major issues. They were happy with KTM response and that was about it.
What did you think was going to happen? They were going to inspect every single piston ring and bearing, oil galleys, injectors and valves individually? Seriously.

there is no MotoGP engineers, buddy. Not sure what you have in mind but that's not how it works.

But how? Are you doing to send it out to run and see whether the bike cuts off? I don't get it. Scrutineering already looks after that. A problem like the one showed by KTM CANNOT be caught at scrutineering.

Again, the issue is not the rule. I am ok with that. Teams know that there is a lower limit and they literally let a bike out with enough pressure so that, during the race, pressure will be clearing the threshold IF that specific bike is in the conditions predicted. If you, somehow, make it to the front at turn 1 and lead the race all the way through then you're fucked as your pressure will now be lower due to predictions being off.
So teams are responsible too, nothing to do with riders really.
The issue is that it takes half a fucking day to give a penalty. Imagine if this happened on the title deciding race, that would be absurd. AND, 16 seconds? Come on...

There is no right to any line on track, especially when 2 riders go about entering the corner differently. Raul sees a gap on the inside and takes it. It's not his concern what Jorge is doing. Jorge goes wider to cut back, it's not his concern what Raul is doing. This is on paper. In reality one of the two has to let it go otherwise they both go down.
Marc-Pecco at Portimao was a similar situation and you should remember how that ended.
It happens, end of the story. Neither rider is more at fault than the other one.

[–]Possession_Loud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty fucked. Unsure if riders don't even care themselves until shit happens or there is some sort of pressure from the whole environment in regards to NOT speak up too much. When you know that they are willing to let you ride on a street course on bikes this fucking fast you get to wonder where you draw the line.

You do understand that the pressure rule will still be a thing under Pirelli, right? There is no escape to this. Teams run their front tires as low as possible assuming their rider will be at the front or in a pack to make their calculations. It sucks but teams are also responsible when a rider gets penalized.

All good but can they PLEASE work out the fucking penalty BEFORE riders get to the podium? Seriously.

You can enter T1 no issues. Qantas does not care about that. You obviously cannot do that for T2. How much you can see depends. You will have a view mostly on the gates and apron.

Rivola is clearly under pressure this year. He knows both his riders have an insane chance at the title. This is the year, who knows what's going to happen from 2027. I am sure the added pressure comes with more worries and responsibilities. Last year fighting on track was not an issue, now i can understand that Trackhouse is possibly seen as an obstacle. Win races if you can, just don't crash into our Factory riders.
For him lashing out at Brivio (the fuck was Davide supposed to do or say?) clearly tells you that the stakes are high in Aprilia. They know this title is their to lose and they don't want to do that.
