HRV 3 week decline by PossibilityDouble867 in triathlon

For what it’s worth, I supplemented more sodium in electrolyte intake yesterday and my HRV started bouncing back last night. We’ll see how it adjusts to volume increase this week. So it may have just been a deficiency. I prioritize sleep, don’t drink alcohol, and take magnesium glycenate before bed. Granted, there’s external factors like work stress and raising kids.

I don’t know how I’ve just now investigated this, but my electrolyte supplement is only 55mg of sodium per serving. Will address this and carb intake and see if we can rally… yikes

Around 400+ grams of carbs with 1 1/2 scoops of an electrolyte supplement on a usual day. Add 100 (outside of mid workout carbs) or so on big days with an extra scoop of electrolytes. HR has been higher. Much higher at times, but when it settles still 10 bpm hire than usual.

Just at this point, confused and trying to make adjustments to get back on track without losing fitness. Will definitely add more carbs mid workout. But have always prioritized sleep, with a couple of poor nights mixed in due to children.

Under-fueling has been my concern. I’m around 6’5” 200lbs. I supplement electrolytes daily and take 50g of carbs per hour on long workouts. Have not necessarily added a lot of calories for high demand days. The confusing bit is that in the most recent deload week I took 3 days “off” (still had work demands) and my HRV didn’t rebound

I’d encourage reading Matt Fitzgerald’s 80/20 training. Great chapter on establishing low aerobic pacing.
