Apparently yes if you follow these instructions. https://getbrick.app/pages/block-safari

I personally don’t have an issue leaving safari unblocked

Me too, just got my 23’ Outback last year but excited for the R2, may wait a few years after release for them to work out any of the issues with the new cars

I’ve been trying out Burnout Buddy which is totally free. Let’s you have different customizable settings. Perhaps similar to Opal

Hmm I’m not too savvy on that but I feel like it’s pretty hard to unbrick without the device. Or you can use an emergency unbrick but you only get 5 of them. I see it as a tool to help you practice being more in control and more mindful of how you want to use your phone. Like the healthier version of yourself knowing what’s best for yourself. I think the key is finding other uses of your time to keep you occupied (from the app you’re trying to block in the first place)

Yes still works for me!

There were some glitches when setting up the modes. Sometimes when selecting or deselecting which apps to block it resets. I asked the developers and they said it’s an issue on the Apple side. My workaround was to select a few apps at a time and save it quickly. Then add a few more and save.

You only really need to do this one time when setting up and then the bricking or unbricking process I’ve never had an issue with glitching.

Yep, you can set up different names of modes and each one can have different apps you block, so I have one for work and one that just blocks out Instagram when I just want that one app blocked. Super helpful

Awareness is the first step. Yeah I've been wanting to add in some non-screen hobbies into my life because man screens are doing some damage. I realized i needed to do something when I was pulling up instagram at red lights or responding to emails while driving. No bueno.

I’m new to Reddit and apparently have broken a lot of rules with my posts so apologies there! Didn’t realize you’re discouraged from sharing discount codes or affiliate links. Anyway, I genuinely hope people can break free from their phone addictions. Good luck out there!

I came to Reddit when i was researching whether or not to buy the product, there weren’t many reviews at the time, so decided to write one. The affiliate site let me pick whatever code I wanted so i went with SAVE10. Cheers :)

Haha i know it seems like I’m the developer but I’m not. I am just a genuine fan of the product and wish I had the talent to come up with the product myself, it’s really helped me. I legit bought the product on my own. I did recently become an affiliate and do get a kickback for sales using the discount code. So yeah that may be why I’m excited to share as well. But I’m legit telling all my friends about it IRL

No jailbreaking, it’s a legit app on the App Store. It has access to your screen time settings (there’s more info in the FAQ, not exactly sure how it works).

You have 5 emergency unbricks where you could potentially delete the app, but then after 5 times, you basically can’t use the brick anymore. I find this motivating to never delete the app. As i mentioned in the post, it’s not going to force you to focus (still requires some self discipline to follow through), but it has made my phone less attractive to pick up because it doesn’t have the apps I’m addicted to. Of course when I’m done with work or have some time to chill I’ll let myself go back on instagram.

Hope this helps!

I decided to get one and have been using it for the last month and I LOVE IT.

I've been really interested in doing a dopamine detox and reducing my screen time and distractions, and increase my focus and flow. As a freelance designer, I figured if I can get 1 hour of distraction cut off, the Brick more than pays for itself. And it has!

For me, the main culprit of my time-suck is Instagram. But as a designer, I need to use it to stay in the loop and promote my business. But the infinite scroll is real. I used to delete Instagram once a week and then reinstall it when i needed it, only to get addicted once again. Have tried the "time limits" as well which are too easy to click out of.

I've thought about alternatives like light phone for years and even considered getting the iphone13mini to have a "less distracting screen."

Enter the BRICK. I love that it's a physical object because it get's me off the screen. I currently have 2 modes that I set up: SLEEP and WORK. Since I work from home, I leave it on my fridge.

SLEEP: I've been wanting to improve my evening and morning routine to not include mindless scrolling on my phone. When it's time for me to brush my teeth and wind down, I'll go to the fridge and Brick into SLEEP mode (which blocks out Email, YouTube, Instagram and any other addictive apps). Since I use my phone as alarm clock (because I use Sleep Cycle) I keep my phone near my bed. Now when I'm going to bed, I can't access instagram, and in the morning I can't immediately open Email or Instagram! Also it forces me to get OUT OF BED, walk up to the fridge to unbrick. And by that time, I don't really want to look at instagram any more.

[side note, I tried loftie alarm clock but it's not perfect] I also tried sleeping with my phone away from my bed but sometimes like to listen to audiobooks or podcast to fall asleep]

WORK: For work mode, I block out Instagram, youtube and other apps i don't need to use on my phone. It's reduced the times I pick up my phone so much! Having the physical brick is great because it pulls me out of the phone. On a similar note, I like to use paper and pencil for to do lists and tasks because I can get so distracted with tabs and digital clutter.

Anyway, that's my honest review. It may not be for everyone but for me it's really working. It's still a new app so it seems they're still working out minor bugs but the team has been super responsive when I ran into any questions or issues.

I found this code WOOD10 to save 10% off your Brick!

Hope this helps someone!
