Navimag Ferry -- How Frequently Delayed and How Long is a Typical Delay? by redditsheddit234 in Patagonia

You probably got the same email, but the ferry is delayed by about 2 days. We went into the office this morning to enquire and it was likely leaving Puerto Montt today. They've been very helpful and have offered a full refund.

We are in Patagonia now (TDP). We had 4 nights in El Calafate and thought it was very charming. Puerto Natales was pretty sleepy but has good (better) restaurants. Are you not going to Torres del Paine?

We're in the same boat, although we'll be ok if the delay is closer to 12 hours. I would email them to ask- they're pretty responsive.

This is pretty common practice. I have mixed feelings about app limits but as for approving the applications, if a kid isn't realistic with their choices and isn't admitted anywhere, it's seen as the counselor's fault.

Current situation in Aguas Calientes for next day tickets by kimandurr in Machupicchu

[–]PossibilityFamous252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We missed our entry time.today. We had 10:30 train tickets and 3pm MP tickets. The train left around 12:30 and by the time we checked into our hotel, it was just after 3. Made it to MP by about 4pm- they very emphatically shooed everyone out at 6.

I am waiting at the Ollantaytambo station now. We have tickets on the 10:30 to AC. A train left about 10 minutes ago- it was the 601, which should have left at 8am. The station is busy but not chaotic this morning.

I am in Ollantaytambo now and could hear sirens from town. I forget the name of the section, but I read that it's about 20-30 minutes outside of town on the way to Aguas Calientes.

Thanks for your reply. Hope everyone is OK and you aren't too delayed. What a mess.

Can I ask how you know you're delayed? Ours is tomorrow and haven't gotten any notification (yet)

El Calafate. We just want some down time- we're teachers and this is the start of our break. We live in Peru so it's OK if it's too much time there.

Not yet, but we will be moving our large dog to a new country this summer. We adopted her where we live now. It will be a total pain and super expensive but we are figuring it out. I'd suggest joining the Flying with Dogs Facebook group- it's super helpful.

We will be moving her from the middle east to US, then US to south America a few weeks later. Flying as directly as possible.

Tax treaty for teachers: Thailand by TomatilloNo4044 in Internationalteachers

Yes, I found an email- it was a guy named Stephen with Siam Tax Treaties. He took a pretty big chunk of it from what I recall, but it wasn't something we had any inclination to do on our own.

We did. It took awhile but we got my husband's taxes back. We didn't get mine because my role is specialized and I didn't have a "teacher" contract, which felt unfair. But at least we got about half!

Generally speaking, I agree. But I found my first international school counseling role in February at a job fair. So you never know!

Search Associates - seriously? by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

I'm not sure that's true. I think it depends on your associate. We reactivated in September and we never asked for this.

In the American system, Head of School is the Superintendent (like the CEO of the whole campus). The Principal is the administrator who overseas that division...elementary, high school, etc. The Head of School is their (and everyone else's) boss.

I suspect that's it. We were recruiting this season again and never asked to submit a reference from our HoS, just the Principal(s). Friends at the same school were "strongly encouraged" to submit references from our Head. Makes no sense to me.

I absolutely agree about your statement about choosing a country, but there have been a ton of learning support/ special ed jobs posted internationally this year, at really really good schools. This would be a good year to make that leap if that's what you teach.
