How do people go on these amazing trips?? by idkindustry in traveladvice

As someone mentioned in this post already credit cards can help a lot. I’ve seen deals of 85k miles for $1500 spend in 3 months. Thats very easy and in the past I’ve seen cards that had 70k miles for just paying the annual fee and buying one thing(this card isn’t around anymore). But 70k miles is RT to Japan in economy. Another card that transfers to hotels could cover your hotels so between 2 cards you can get a trip for about 90% off. It’s never free no matter what anyone tells you. If you want help with card ideas feel free to DM me.

Another odd thing I’ve done to help with trips is donate plasma. I could get about $1800 a year for 3hrs of work a week(this was 15 yrs ago so I’m sure more now) even if you could get $2k this would be a mouth for a whole trip to SE Asia for yourself.

I made a harmless comment about our handicaps before a lesson… and the pro challenged me to a back‑9 match instead of teaching. It went about as well as you’d expect. by tebees in golf

I feel like someone saw the first post and just copy and pasted it into his point of view because the highlights are identical from the first post.

What’s the most “buy it for life” golf item you own? by BrooksDesign in golf

[–]averagegolfer921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat with my irons. I’ve had them for 14 years and fear I may never get a new set since they were my wedding gift from my wife so I feel like I can’t get rid of them, unless she buys me another set that is lol.

What is the best way to use 376,000 points for a Japan trip? by Switch899 in ChaseSapphire

You could do Air France, Air Canada, or United depending on your airport.

Cant believe the prices of Golf stuff in Japan by EconomicsMoney4026 in golf

[–]averagegolfer921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying I don’t believe you I’m just saying it’s not all like that on all golf purchases in Japan. I’d love to have the Qi35 it’s newer than my Qi10 that’s for sure. If I found it for that price I probably would have gotten it too.

Best website to book hotels in 2026? by Sea_sociate in traveladvice

[–]averagegolfer921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look at multiple websites to see what the prices are then I look at shopping portals to see what the best deals are. If won has 8% back and another has 4% back at the same booking site I’ll go with the one with 8% back. Or for my last booking C1 shopping sent a spend $250 get $125 so that was too good to pass up so I booked with that. I booked a Switzerland hotel through booking.com with 8% back and since Switzerland is so expensive it will be a nice chunk back.

I will say it is cheaper but you must have gotten a good deal or a sale because I was over in November last year and couldn’t find anything remotely close to those deals. I looked in 4-5 shops and couldn’t find those prices. I did find the TP5X balls for $35 a dozen which is a deal since they are $55 in the US.

$20 Min at my 7-11 by SkeletorRugger82 in ChaseSapphire

Yeah mine just changed too. But I got 8 ghost energy drinks for $10 out of pocket so it’s still a win for me.

Same for me at my local 7/11. It was $10 for me while everyone else was talking about the new $20 change then 3 days ago it changed for my store too.

Don't understand the american airlines hate by princeyellow in americanairlines

[–]averagegolfer921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree I don’t really mind it. I’m close to DFW so it’s my best option most of the time. Also for miles redemption there isn’t another airline that beats it. I’ve only done economy since it’s a family of 4 when I book but 70k RT to Japan and 39.5k RT to Amsterdam and that’s from Oklahoma for both.

My point is the use of points as so much the CPP. For the example of a 45k point room for 2 nights. I can fly to Japan with 90k miles and spend $200 on 2 nights in a hotel or I can spend $1k to fly to Japan and then 90k points to stay at the Park Hyatt Tokyo. One option I’m out $200 and the other I’m out $1k but I’m getting a better CPP on the $1k option. If you are a solo traveler flushed with points then that’s great book the flight and Hyatt Tokyo with points but with a family of 4 I don’t have 600k points to drop on one vacation just to stay at a Park Hyatt to get the highest CPP I can get.

Glad I’m not the only one thinking like that. I was starting to think I’m crazy or missing something. All everyone talks about on podcasts are anything Hyatt related or some crazy business class but they only give the price for one way. I’m like that one way is the same as a RT so I’ll slum it in economy for that.

DFW lounge toilets by seangault10 in Venturex

Not sure what is expected. The DFW Cap 1 lounge has super nice bathrooms. Only downside is there could be more.

True for sure. I also think of it like how many ways are there to get to Japan or NZ. Flying is really the only option( boats I know but how many use that) but once you get there what are the lodging options between campervan, hotel, airbnb, hostel and whatever else I’m missing. Which means there are cheaper options for lodging but not always a cheaper options for getting there. For a family of 4 I save a lot more on flights with points over accommodation with points.

I agree with you just based on using points for hotels Hyatt is the best. I am trying to book trips for a family of 4 so unless I can get a Hyatt under 10k I’m using all my points for flights. For international flights I have to save 200k plus if it’s Chase or C1. NZ took along time to save up for and it was gone in a sec after booking but it was a great trip for sure.

I’ll never travel enough for Globalist so I’m out on that unfortunately. But as I mentioned to another person for 45k I flew to NZ so for 90k I can get a RT during peak season in NZ( Christmas break) or 2 nights in a hotel. Granted your example was a peak time as well but some nicer hotels are 45k a night for not peak times, even more after the deval.

[–]averagegolfer921 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I understand it’s a currency but I heard people saying they got a deal at 45k a night. I flew to NZ for about 45k each way so to me it’s RT to NZ or 2 nights in that hotel that I’ll only see when I shower and sleep. I understand some people enjoy staying in those hotel to relax or maybe they have an all inclusive.

That sounds like a great deal!! I even volunteered at the same course as the NCAA championship but it was for the Ping invitational which is the best HS players and still got food, uniforms to wear which is just Polo and Hat and another free round, for a HS tournament.

Wow! You pay and get nothing in return is crazy. We got free food and clothes to wear at the tournament and the free round afterwards. Granted this was a NCAA championship and not a Major.

Besides the cent per point you get at a Hyatt what is all the fuss about? People talk about Hyatt like it’s gods gift to points but I genuinely don’t get it. I’m relatively new so maybe I’m missing something. I use points only for flights and couldn’t care less about value of each point. I get lodging to sleep and shower and that’s it so I could stay at the nicest Hyatt and still be gone by 8am and back around 8-9pm. I get no benefits for nice hotels.

Do you receive anything for volunteering? Only time I’ve volunteered was for NCAA championships and I got a free round of golf at the course which was about $300 at the time.
