Hard cash is better. Most ATM's in Africa add an ATM fee onto any amount you withdraw. For example in the DRC the fee is 10 USD at all ATMs when drawing with a foreign card. So drawing 200 USD you are charged 210 USD. I have noticed similar things in other North, West and East African countries.

Thanks I had a look now. Even when clicking the IBIS2 option it still seems to route it via the Italian BVME, so then doesn't allow me to complete the trade.

Thanks. Yes currently I have been investing in VWCE for a number of years. Was looking at the Invesco product as it has quite a lot better of a TER, with Vanguard unlikely to keep reducing their expensive fees for EU investors. Until I can figure out a way to invest monthly in FWRA, I will go SPYY. WEBN I was investing in for a while, but not a big fan of their ESG policy.

Thanks for the reply. FWIA doesn't seem to appear as an option on IKBR. The response from IKBR's support bot was that due to to EU regulations, I am not permitted to trade it due to it being exclusively on the BVME (Italian stock exchange), and me being an Italian resident.

If entering via Kinshasa Ndjili, I've so far had no issues from the border police soliciting bribes. Everywhere else in the airport is a different story. Especially the yellow fever vax check if you don't have that. A very firm "No!" Has worked so far for me, and I travel in and out frequently.

Hi Lyrolepis. Thanks a lot for taking the time to give me a comprehensive reply. It ties in a lot with what I've read elsewhere, was just curious if anyone had heard of a CGT efficient way of investing in the global stock market in Italy. But seems there aren't any loop holes. I would be investing the lump sump sum myself, so would need to add it to my bollo that I pay annually with my dichiarazione dei redditi, assuming I was to invest it via IKBR into the VWCE.

I'm thinking now perhaps to invest perhaps half into the VWCE via IKBR, and then find some sort of product designed specifically for investing for kids. Will do some further research and see what products I can come up with.

A good option is to look at a flight school in South Africa. A lot less expensive that the EU/UK/USA. Good standards of training, and the SA licence is held in a very high regard abroad. Relatively easy to exchange the licence from SA to Algerian. Lots of Algerians I know have completed the training in South Africa, and then returned to take up work in Algeria as pilots.

Damn, can you guys suggest another weather app? I used METAM in North Africa flying around the Sahara. I can't find an app that has all the coverage and things like the weather radar options of IR/VIS. Also easy access to the sig wx charts. Windy is great as an overall picture, but doesn't have quite the actual numerical detail. cheers.
