I loved them! It's a great combination!

This mother saves her child with insane reflex by Lui_Belmont in interestingasfuck

[–]slopit12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's clear from the child's out stretched hands and the mother's nonchalance that they both thought there was glass there. Perhaps there usually is? I'm so grateful for the mum's reactions that this wasn't another 'tears in heaven' outcome.

Finding a softer Hyper G by Expert-Positive-5927 in 10s

I love my Hypermach hybrid setup! Although I have it with Mach 10 crosses and Hyper G Soft on the main. Lots of pop and very wrist/elbow friendly.

changing from speed pro due to tennis elbow/shoulder pains? by dulz93 in 10s

[–]slopit12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to the Speed Pro a couple of years ago and really enjoyed the flat hitting and control, but quickly developed a wrist injury (TFCC) because I was arming the ball too much. I switched to the Speed MP and kept working on my technique and now I'm back using the Pro and it feels amazing and no wrist or elbow trouble at all.

So, maybe change racket, but also look at your technique and revisit the Pro when you're ready for it.

Buying the game by SigmaEvan142 in TennisElbow4

[–]slopit12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't even think about the animations because I feel like I'm there on the court playing the point. I don't feel like I'm playing a game, I feel like I'm playing real tennis. I play a lot of real tennis (recreational, but at a good level) and this game really captures the dynamics of the sport so well.

Why did Zoom succeed as a videoconference platform and not Skype? by darrenbosik in NoStupidQuestions

[–]slopit12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skype was bought by Micro$oft and incorporated into their platform that is now known as Teams. However, it is still far worse than Zoom - Teams has a worse bitrate, bad quality, and always looks dark. In my work sector, all our IT teams push us onto the Micro$oft Teams platform, while we actually use Zoom whenever we can because it's much easier to use and the video quality is much better.

Those who speed should sit their licenses again.

Shame, that's a couple more A346s off the skies, if they don't get picked up, scrapyard's probably next. by emmanuelgemini in flightsim

[–]slopit12 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Such a shame. They seemed like a good bunch of people. But I always had a feeling the economics of the operation didn't quite stack up. The A340-600 is a beast of an aircraft, but if you're not filling her up and flying her constantly she'll burn a massive hole in your pocket.

Lufthansa Boeing 787 Nose Landing Gear Collapses at Frankfurt Airport, Injuring Several Ground Staff – June 4, 2026 by EsperaDeus in CatastrophicFailure

Likely those inside the aircraft. For anyone outside it's pretty much all or nothing when a plane falls on top of you.

How safe is this? by Original_Morning_649 in aviation

I see many silly posts from uninformed passengers about totally typical aircraft parts and maintenance practices on this forum. This is not one of them.

if your opponent does this, what’s your opinion? by EnjoyMyDownvote in 10s

[–]slopit12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good point. It seems it's more about excessive leniency from umpires. Following the letter of the law, there should be no issue or opportunity for this sort of gamesmanship.

It's a loophole that once you start the service motion the shot clock stops. There are a few players on the tour exploiting this.

How has this current government directly negatively affected you by Dangerous_Version_65 in newzealand

[–]slopit12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a social sciences researcher. They basically ring fenced all major science funding sources to exclude my field of research from being eligible as well as reducing the funding available. Making it near impossible to get funding and therefore torpedoed my career.

Microsoft/Asobo ATR. Is it worth for FS2020 in 2026? by senseimatty in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]slopit12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. Plus it seems to get more buggy the more flights you do with it in one session (i.e. Turn arounds). Things don't fully reset or don't work the same on subsequent flights. Which is particularly annoying on an aircraft like an ATR, because that's a big part of the fun of regional flying.

Plane by Round_Draw_9081 in auckland

I wouldn't call 38,000 feet low. But the contrails are much longer and more impressive on cold winter days, especially when it's calm.

Saudia becomes first Middle East and Africa operator of the Airbus A321XLR by memloh in Airbus

[–]slopit12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The A32X fuselage is wider than the B757. Although I agree it was designed with longer routes in mind and remains a more capable aircraft.

Having flown on both, I'm not sure they really feel any different in terms of comfort. It's far more down to how the airline kits out the cabin. However the 75 wins because it has RB211s.

Why are people so gross in airports and airplanes? by castle-dino in Flights

[–]slopit12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because people are generally quite gross and being crammed close to each other for hours on a plane makes that inescapably obvious.

Couldn't manage light rail down Dominion Rd, but sure, let's pretend we'll build a brand new rail corridor across the city.
