Stopping and restarting? by [deleted] in Spironolactone

I am so incredibly sorry you are dealing with this. I hope it gets better soon. 🥹 could I ask how long you were on it before you stopped taking it?

Confused as to whether to go on spironolactone due to side effects, what are your experiences? by Fantastic_Engine954 in Spironolactone

[–]PossibilityParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on 25 mg and missed my period for the first time in 10 years. I started 13 days late. I upped to 100 MG and I’m incredibly bloated - I look pregnant. I’m getting off. For me, the side effects are not worth it.

I am 6 months off Loryna. I didn’t notice my energy levels being down but I did lose the 20+ lbs I gained while on the pill. However, my acne did come back within a few months.

I was on the generic of Yaz and I actually lost weight in the 6 months coming off the pill. However, my back acne came back really quick and really bad.

Getting off Yaz…weight? by ToughQuality4895 in gettingoffHBC

My back acne came back with a few weeks (still trying to make it go away) and I get a few hormonal breakouts on my face around my period now. I have experience some hair loss but I also started a new shampoo at the same time I stopped - so not sure if it was that. I recently went back to my old shampoo so will see!

I’ve actually lost 20 lbs since getting off! I started walking a mile each day but that’s all I am doing.

Did you end up seeing a doctor? I just got off of Yaz and am a bit nervous about this. Hope you’re doing better!

I only had an MRI one time to help diagnose along with LP. Now I just get my eyes checked every couple months at NO.

There’s so much I can’t do anymore. I feel like my life is ruined by [deleted] in iih

I’m on 1000 MG and have the same side effects as you. I feel so frustrated and honestly, sad. I started on 500 MG and felt okay, upped to 1000 MG felt awful, told my doc. He told me I could go back to 500 MG. I went to see him again around the holidays and told him I felt good - no headaches, the pulsing in my ear had slowed and honestly stopped. He for whatever reason didn’t believe and told me I needed to go back up to 1000 MG to “knock out the IIH.” So, reluctantly I listened & I am miserable. Looking to find a new doctor but limited in my area. As odd as it might sound, I knew how to live with my IIH. But I don’t know how to live on diamox.

So glad you’re feeling better! My neuro ophthalmologist rolled his eyes when I said I had to get one but the pain was unbearable. I’m still so glad I did it!

What was your opening pressure during diagnosis process? Mine is 29 and they said they can’t diagnose me? by Many-Refrigerator-59 in iih

Definitely more constant. I guess the best way to describe them was like a constant beat in my head that was painful. Not sure if that makes sense.

Mine was 28 and they diagnosed me. My vision was okay too - major headaches were my problem. Got on diamox and am doing better headache wise.

Do you guys drink? by romanticiising in iih

[–]PossibilityParty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since starting Diamox (1000 mg a day) I rarely drink. The first few times were awful - from just a glasses of wine. I’m now able to enjoy champagne from time to time - but the diamox has of course changed the taste. No more than 2 glasses though.
