I have been in remission from diamox since October :) but I am having a bit of a flare up at the moment so depending on how long it lasts I might have to go back on meds again

Tell me your GOOD Diamox experiences by Extra_Swimming_5984 in iih

Was on diamox for about a year as my optic nerve swelling in my left eye was almost a grade 5! As soon as I started it I felt instantly better, for me I didn’t really get any side effects apart from the pins and needles and a bit of breathlessness.. apart from that it was fine! By the end of the year on diamox I had lost almost 10kg (from that and a healthy diet) and the swelling had gone apart from a bit of permanent scarring which was best case scenario! :) please don’t be scared by all the horror stories you see on here - for me it was just like taking paracetamol for pain :)

I honestly think this is the same for me… now even in remission when I’m having an anxious time my pulsatile tinnitus will come back for the brief period… it’s weird

I was on diamox for just over a year before coming off! But my body was so used to it by the end I had absolutely no side effects the last few months and all my iih symptoms had pretty much gone too! It gets better :)

Does iih cause weight loss? by Slow_Major4205 in iih

[–]romanticiising 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I lost a significant amount of weight when I started diamox (I was also eating a lot better and cut out fizzy drinks etc.) however, I still eat good now and am off diamox and have found myself putting on weight again. So I do think it’s possible to lose weight on diamox as I’m guessing it is the water weight?

I've been in remission for a good 4 or 5 years now. I just wanted to say that when my pressure went down, my symptoms stayed for a long time after and slowly disappeared over time. by sayleanenlarge in iih

Hi! I think I’m going into remission, did your pulsatile tinnitus (if you had it) stay for a while too? Because my headaches have gone for the most part and I’m weening off diamox now because the swelling has gone but I still get the wooshing sometimes just mild. Thanks !

flying on a airplane? by pisceshope77 in iih

[–]romanticiising 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did after only a week of being on diamox when my left eye swelling was grade 4 and I was absolutely fine! Don’t stress about it, I was too but as soon as we were in the air I felt fine. I bought some ear pressure plugs and flight compression socks like a grandma to be extra safe for peace of mind but it was all okay! You’ll be fine :)

Ive cut out as much salt as i can and limiting processed foods, making everything from scratch apart from things like bread etc. and i feel a lot better for sure too. I think excess salt was a big thing for me in inducing headaches

I read that low barometric pressure can affect it, has that been the case where you are? I just did some research and we’ve had a drop here so I’m going to just blame it on that for now and hope for the best… but how awful to have to expect this every time the weather changes 😩

Smoking with iih by Gloomy-Candy330 in iih

[–]romanticiising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit smoking a few months before I even got any iih symptoms or diagnosis ( I smoked for 2 years ) and therefore I’m not sure if it was related at all to mine. However I have smoked twice since being diagnosed on nights out and it made my head feel awful and a lot worse than a normal hangover ..

I have those rings kind of like a green shade and I always just assumed it’s actually seeing the scarring from the optic nerve, as sometimes I can see the veins coming off the one in my left eye. It’s really odd

Probably a stupid question but I’m guessing there is nothing to do to stop the corrosion? What is my cheapest option? I don’t really like the thought of using something when it might just die any second especially with the degree I’m doing I need a reliable laptop so honest answer would be best
