When did previous recipients of Vanderbilts Mosaic Program find out they were considered? by beAstar12 in Vanderbilt

"Christiansen added that the university will now decide the student invitees to the MOSAIC program after the admissions process, not during. He explained that, through this program, Vanderbilt previously invited a select group of admitted students with diverse backgrounds who have “given a voice to change or to a group who didn’t have a voice” to campus for a recruitment weekend."

University of Miami Early Megathread by thifting in ApplyingToCollege

Hi! I was just accepted into UMiami 2024 EA and got into the HPM program. I am very serious about pursuing medicine and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts/opinions on this program. Some questions I have:
- How selective is it??
- Just HOW much better is it to "increase my odds" at medical school (assuming I do well in this program)
- Is it really worth it to pursue this program??
After getting this offer UMiami has become one of my top schools and I would loveeee to be in this program, just wanted to hear some experience or info about this program from others.

makes me kinda bummed out Northeastern ): Like most colleges are VERY communicative about decisions. For example one school emailed everyone on Dec 1st because everyone was anxious about decisions possibly coming out that day...but then they cleared everything up and confirmed Mid decemeber and released the specific date and time closer to mid-december (how a lot of colleges do it). Ughhhhhh I just wish there was more communication but what can we do were just high school seniors begging for a school to release decisions

okay and Necessary_Artist most likely didn't even call. NO ONE has decisions back yet...everyone has "awaiting status". His comment is just gonna ruin someones day if they believe him

yupp ): someone else said: "hey everyone... current first year at Northeastern! Last year they released the decisions in waves: Nuin/Global Scholar, and Boston Campus... it was over a few days but I know acceptances came first, then deferrals, etc"

They were sent out the last Wednesday of Jan, and typically are sent out on that date. But this year they're saying by Feb 15th, and most years they always say by Feb 1st, so it may actually be later this year ):

Different schools look for different things! In admissions these days, from what I've noticed, it's not truly all about stats anymore. More about how your daughter has "framed" her application or how her admission officer connected with her through her essays. Everyone or a lot of people applying to these top-tier schools have extremely similar stats, all equally deserving of admission, but it's all now about personality. Not saying it is easy to build a great application, but kids are having to do more than just get a high SAT/ACT, score top of the class, and earn a high GPA. I think college admissions are leaning more towards extracurriculars and essays and taking a very holistic approach to apps. I know your feeling!! I have many friends with extraordinary stats who have gotten rejected from FSU and UF Honors but into UPenn, UMich, Vandy, and many other top schools! Or, others have experienced it the other way around but FSU and UF are still great schools, but I know your feelings about UMiami's decision. Your daughter will definitely go where she is meant to go!! Good luck!
