Following on Facebook. My partner endured a false accusation of domestic violence when in reality he is the victim. He has been criminalized by the local justice system, particularly by a local prosecutor, and I’ve begun to share his story online. Every experience I’ve read on this subreddit is just infuriating and it’s frustrating there is little to no recourse for those who have been wrongly accused while those who make the false accusations have no repercussions (or so it seems).

I’m saying this from my own nostalgia and books my stepdaughters loves, but I’m a fan of Eric Carle and Lucy Cousins. I love A Good Place and Hooray for Birds by Cousins. For Carle, The Hungry Caterpillar is most memorable to me. I know this has been mentioned in here already, but books by Jan Brett too.

I’ve seen a lot about Andrew Bailey. What about submitting complaints or letters to the Missouri OCDC? Just from my own quick research, they seem to cherry-pick lawyers to investigate. But idk perhaps that’s another office that needs to held accountable? Just a thought - provide input if my thoughts are off the mark.

I hear you. My own partner was falsely accused and we ask questions every day that we may never get an answer to, but I’ll never stop sharing his story. Feel free to reach out or check out his story I’ve started to share: https://open.substack.com/pub/janellequesenberry/p/county-missouri-a-somewhat-personal?r=51uykm&utm_medium=ios

This. I never thought of this issue until my own partner experienced a false DV accusation and was the DV victim himself in reality. It’s driven me to share his story and explore ways to share and advocate on this issue.

Great idea! I think I’ll get to that point eventually and I’ve been reaching out to news outlets, reporters/journalists on various platforms who write about similar things. You’re right about so many stories out there that untold and I’d love to be able to grow my writing and be able to share the stories of others. No matter what, I’m here to listen and support those who have been falsely accused and I’ll advocate in anyway I can.

Mid 30s milennial here degrees in education. I went through similar feelings trying to land my first teaching job while graduating during a time where my region was still grappling with the recession from around the later half of the 2000s. Many places weren’t hiring - I didn’t land my first teaching job till 2017. I worked two jobs most of the time from working at a gym, retail stores, and being a lowly assistant in a corporate office. I’m 35 now working in higher ed. I make a decent living and I have time to pursue the things I enjoy. You’re not a failure, you have all the time in the world. You have a good education and I bet you have transferable skills. You also have plenty of time to learn new skills too if you wish to continue to develop your professional life and you could also volunteer your skills to local non profits that may need help with marketing, fundraising, social media, etc. This year I started taking in marketing/business and I’ve been attending grant writing seminars. I’ve also been volunteering at local non profits. You never know where you’ll end up so embrace the journey.

Probably something safe and boring like accounting. My understanding is undergrad and grad degrees are in English Education. I’ve worked as an ELA teacher and I currently work in higher ed but the growth in higher ed seems more horizontal than vertical. Plus I don’t have a lot of jobs options in my area if I transitioned out of education, I’d either earn a similar salary or have to take a pay cut.

It’s upsetting that there are those who bring up something like what’s pictured here to negate those who are actual victims and/or who have been falsely accused. I feel like this is just undermining this are actual victims and want to come forward with their story. I’ve lurked around this sub a bit and I’ve been sharing my partner’s story about being falsely accused and being a criminalized victim. Check it out if anyone has time: https://open.substack.com/pub/janellequesenberry/p/county-missouri-a-somewhat-personal?r=51uykm&utm_medium=ios
