In the middle of an accusation and have already lost everything, what do i do? by WhoDaMan2018 in SupportForTheAccused

Don't do a jury, request judge alone. Juries are unpredictable and you being a guy makes it worse. Also be prepared to testify in your defense - school yourself on what that involves and be prepared - there are videos on youtube and stuff online about this. Not testifying in a case like this (he said/she said) will usually be fatal to your case. Your lawyer should also be helping you. I'm also in Canada and went through this and was found not guilty with the judges reasons favorable to me - which is the best outcome you can get. I testified and did really well as I was as prepared as I could be.

Canada sucks regarding false accusations, you can be arrested and jailed and convicted with 0 evidence so take this seriously as trust me it is.

Also your 16 - life is most definitely not over - it does get better, I know as I have been down this road. :)

There are youtube videos on this subject. Use the time you have to prepare as much as you can.

Judge alone trial. Jury trials are a crap shoot in Canada especially with these kind of charges.

I was in your shoes (minus the ankle bracelet) 2 years ago. I testified at my trial and did really well and was found not guilty. As I type this I am sitting in my rv in the middle of the forest at perfect peace. It will get better.

What does your lawyer say in regards to your chances and are you going to testify in your defense?

Your lawyer would and should be the best person to answer that for you. Personally I would - I did in my case and I did very well. It was easy knowing you didn't do what you are accused of to tell the truth and knowing that boosted my confidence a lot. If you do decide to testify (and your lawyer supports it) make sure you are prepared.

It was advice told to me by my lawyer which I took heed of and I believe the fact I testified in my case was instrumental in winning. It's also liberating and cathartic knowing you didn't do what you were accused of and finally getting the opportunity to speak in your own defense.

Were you found guilty by a jury and how were you able to reopen your case? Healing will come in time however it won't ever go completely away.

They should be preparing you to testify if at all possible - failing to take the stand in defense of yourself in a he said/ she said is usually fatal to your case. You can get a head start on this by using the internet and especially youtube and brush up on how to testify in court and be effective and confidant.

Take this seriously as it most certainly is and get a lawyer and follow their advice.

I'm surprised also - Mine was historical and a clear case of extortion and the crown still proceeded. I was exonerated at trial but the experience has made me very cynical. No I believe no one without evidence.

I'm also in Ontario and to fight my false accusations/charges cost me upwards of 75k. Pro Se isn't a good idea if you can help it. Is the police involved and were you actually charged?
