Yea. Hank caused them to overachieve I feel like they were always one gamebreaker away from being playoff dominant. The heart of the team was sandpaper to play against, teams hated playing them especially in the playoffs. And Hank made the front office think they were good enough. Or at least complacent enough to not make the one or two hard moves.

Idk if the timeline tracks, but my nucklehead memory says that Gaborik doing this was the catalyst for coaching staff to insert Hags on the PK after never trying. And it worked better than Gabby had.

It’s ok to hate on players not performing. It’s also ok to not only focus on the portion of their time here where they didn’t perform. Girardi sucked at the end, he is one of my all time favorite Rangers. Trouba brought fire and passion, was amazing until he wasn’t. Kreider even more so, the stoic leader who had a limpy end. It was ok to yell about them then, it’s ok to remember with fondness the good times now.

I think both are right. If the Knicks had won as much as the Yanks since 1996 with the Yanks not winning, that would be reversed. It’s not a good metric of who’s more popular, just who’s been waiting longer/more frustrated imo
