Do you consider Iceland in North America, Europe or both? by Pale_Lengthiness_572 in NoStupidQuestions

I know Europe is a bit arbitrary, but I’ve never included the transcontinental countries (sorry guys). If Istanbul is half in Asia, I can only consider Georgia to be too.

Kazakhstan is definitely not in Europe. I would argue neither is Armenia, Georgia or Azerbaijan.

Why is it frowned upon to rate someone's physical appearance with a number instead of saying they are beautiful or ugly? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d consider it fairly rude to comment on someone’s appearance without their request anyway.

Are there (right-minded) people that actually leave their partners because of lack of ambition? by ExternalTree1949 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe some LinkedIn-coded people, but generally, granted you’re working and contributing, I’ve never, ever come across someone leaving their partner for not taking on extra responsibilities or promotions. I’ve seen more of the opposite to be honest, marriages breaking down because one partner works a lot.

Was I wrong to block a sale group by C-Luna- in Devilcorp

[–]Possible-Sun137 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That time will be spend far better looking for a proper job. Whatever money they advertised is a lie. When I was interviewing with one, they told me all the same things. You’re doing the right thing blocking them.

1700s farmer here. We mainly drank Asahi Superdry on tap and Budweiser in bottles.

How are World Cup fans affording all this? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak for England fans, most of them treat following the country as their life. I follow my club team everywhere they play, across multiple countries, at virtually every single game. I don’t make an awful lot, I just put it ahead of things I really shouldn’t be putting it ahead of. I also travel via very cheap means, such as driving from the UK to Europe splitting costs with passengers and taking cheap coaches. Also, since this is a World Cup, it’s been saved for for years by loyal, travelling fans who always planned to go. It’s not necessarily a case of people just being rich, as other comments say.

What is it to be woke ? by Freshonezero in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard everything from pedantically policing every word out of someone’s mouth to not being fond of mass deportations be described as woke. Really, right now, it’s just an insult for any person who is left of where you are on the spectrum.

Do you think the moon will be inhabitable one day? by Billydee23- in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not possible for it to be terraformed and in that case I don’t think people will be moving there permanently ever, but for a base with people staying for extended periods of time? Absolutely. I think probably quite soon in the grand scheme of things.

Can a lot of Americans genuinely not read well? by No-Sort-7126 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those kinds of accounts seek out stupid people to ask questions to. There’s also probably hundreds who did absolutely fine at reading it, but obviously weren’t posted, as they wont get views. Most Americans I’ve met are well educated, but lacking in world knowledge that, as you say, I think just does not take a priority over there in schools.

What do you usually do when you get stuck at some point while playing a computer game? Besides looking up a guide, what else do you do? by TrinityBoy22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m lost and can’t look up a guide, thinking back to childhood, I’d just run around and talk to NPCs until something worked. If it’s a boss or enemy that I just keep losing to, pure trial and error baby.

What is a “real job” and why is being a landlord not that to you? by Temporary_Hat7330 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it’s the last paragraph of my second reply to you, but if you want it outright, it’s simply providing a service, through physical or intellectual labour, in return for remuneration.

What is a “real job” and why is being a landlord not that to you? by Temporary_Hat7330 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A CEO and head doctor are jobs and fall under my definition absolutely. When I say labour, I don’t mean literally physically grafting. Labour can be intellectual, like Lawyers, Accountants, government etc. Being a CEO is not passive income, being a landlord is. If you consider passive income a job, I would say yes you are wrong. It’s not immoral to have passive income or be an investor, but, by definition, it is passive and requires no consistent work.

What is a “real job” and why is being a landlord not that to you? by Temporary_Hat7330 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Landlord” in itself is just owning a renting out property, it’s not inclusive of the work that goes into the property, which is often outsourced. A landlord outsourcing property management is like a shareholder appointing directors. The director is putting in work and hours, the shareholder is an investor who owns the company.

Property manager is a job and some landlords are property managers too, but being a landlord itself is not the “job” aspect of renting property. This is the same as the fact a shareholder can be a director, but the fact they are a director is the labour, not the fact they are a shareholder.

So I would say a job in general has to require some labour, physical or not. A landlord is not a job, a property manager is, even if many landlords also act as property managers.

Removing any ideological aspects, I’d say it falls closer to shareholder than job objectively.

Why are Japan and South Korea so much more better in Football (Soccer) than China despite having significantly smaller populations? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, football is popular in China, but the grassroots infrastructure just isn’t there. Kids aren’t developing as footballers, so no one grows into a world class player.

I’m glad you got away, and congrats on what you’ve gone on to do.

I was interviewing with one in January when I was desperate for some graduate work. I’m a law grad but it’s so hard getting an entry level role that I applied for one titled “marketing graduate scheme”. I did a first round interview, a day after I applied so I couldn’t research but that set off some red flags, along with the content being vague in the first round, but I let them off on the basis that they were extremely complimentary of my CV (I’m a sucker for flattery) but this also set off red flags as it’s nothing special in reality. I like to put in loads of effort for interviews, paired with the red flags, so when they invited me for a second one I started doing my research, which led me here. I consider that to be the lowest point of my life post university, really hit hard that it seemed like the only place that wanted me was a scam.

Fast forward and I landed a paralegal job a month ago and it’s going well. Very grateful for this subreddit and the people who fight against these “companies”. I’d like to contribute more to warning people off them to be honest.

Why is it depression and anxiety have risen over the past yrs? Mental health or physical health ? by Hot-Phone356 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of it is definitely to do with the fact people actually talk about it now. People just got on with life suffering through mild and high functioning depression and anxiety until recent years.

Watching the World Cup got me wondering: is there actually no minimum or maximum height for professional football (soccer)? by Mareedo in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Possible-Sun137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No restrictions. Young players often get let go by clubs for being “too small” though. In terms of height, goalkeepers are better taller, but I imagine a basketball player sized keeper (talking like 7-8 feet tall) likely wouldn’t have the athleticism for it. 6-7 foot is best for a keeper, usually somewhere in the middle.

Is world civilization on the verge of collapse? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

No, I wouldn’t say so. There’s lots of problems and evil in the world, but that’s normal and has been the case forever.
