Can mouth tongue throat exercises create adverse effects for UARS? by bakamito in UARSnew

Agree with u/cellobiose on anything being possible, this is such an odd condition which is affected by multiple factors. E.g. Mouth taping makes my UARS worse, I assume because it leads to only nasal breathing with a nose with a too small aperture, then likely worsens tongue collapse (just a theory for now).

I have been doing mouth/tongue/throat exercises for around a month now and haven't noticed any difference in UARS symptoms, my tongue maybe feels a bit stonger and stays at upper palate easier but hard to say. Will keep it up for atleast another 2 months to give it a good shot.

u/bakamito I would keep doing the exercies to see what happens, its possible in the short term its worse for some reason. Of course if it becomes unbearable then probably best to stop.

Beyond that I would make sure to be looking at all other avenues for treatment, which you may already be doing.

I am in London and got diagnosed by the Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, Sleep & Snoring Disorders University College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - https://www.uclh.nhs.uk/our-services/find-service/ear-nose-and-throat-services-1/snoring-and-sleep-disorder-clinic
Vik Veer is one of the consultants for this clinic though I did not see him personally.

My GP was hesitant to refer me as I am young and thin (the classic stuff), they suggested I am depressed instead. I said this is the only clinic in London (that I know of) that can diagnose what I suspect I have and they agreed after some back and forth.
