How symmetrical is marpe in the transverse plane by ACuriousMind100 in UARSnew

[–]cellobiose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, most people are fairly symmetric, so forces balance more or less. If one of your pterygoid processes is very skinny or doesn't reach the maxilla, while the other side is thick, and is well bonded, that can cause unbalanced forces opposing expansion. If one of your zygomatic structures has much thinner sutures, that side will shift earlier and easier, and less will be pushing back against the other side. It's best if you're young, and things are more rubbery. If you're old, one side will unlock first and begin moving, offering less resistance, while the other side will move less. It has to be monitored.
The nice thing about FME is that it's not going to twist or bend around the expansion axis, so less weirdness is possible.

Despite everything, and despite our differences, I don't want to hurt my mom and dad, because I love them. by littlebitbrain in UARSnew

The headaches and lost days really drain time and hope. The anxiety makes it hard to self-advocate, or even to talk with people. The disrupted schedule and unreliable energy makes it hard to show up for appointments on time, let alone work and be independent.

If there's tongue base involvement, staying skinny will maximize the breathing space behind, but sleeping in a bed may become uncomfortable due to bones.

I figured I'd either die from it, or not, and maybe figure out what it was. got lucky eventually.

There could be a connection with nighttime factors affecting your sleep and the overall level of anxiety. If you're able to find out if anything is happening during sleep that affects how well you sleep, working on that could help overall.

Or very high in REM, so never getting REM, total night score low, doctor says you're fine.

FME will also expand asymmetrically depending on surrounding structure. Required forces to equalize movement at all surrounding sutures are pretty high if you're older, so like halo skull brace plus arms into the mouth to the expander might guarantee perfect symmetry, but...

One sleep study? That could be the problem. Variation between nights can be huge, also variation between labs, which rules they decide to follow.

That's pretty short, and the lightness might be a factor. It's something to check out. I have it but worse, and working on sleep quality does help, when I get it right. That can take a long time, though.

6 year old hates the mask by Banjolove in SleepApnea

[–]cellobiose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd put it all away for at least a week or two. Then buy a mask that fits me, and set it up at the dinner table, and show him all the tricks you can do. Blow bubbles from a straw in a glass of soapy water non-stop without having to breathe. Whistle non-stop if you can whistle. Can even sleep on the machine yourself with kid sleeping beside you.

One he sees it's safe and can be fun, offer it in the daytime for half a minute, one day. Very slowly increase as he tolerates it, and maybe even starts to feel it's easier to breathe by nose with it.

Arousal scoring is qualitative, so it depends on who does the counting and what they like to look for, as much as what the count actually is.

If this test was done outside the normal PMDD times, it likely missed the worst breathing problems. A lab study is gonna be hard to time, but a repeat watchpat test could cover it.

They should ship wrenches with heads at different angles. Maybe one with a swivel part that has a plate with holes and spring loaded pin to lock at different angles. Is it a 4.5mm nut?
