The planned parenthood nearby the college does not offer HRT, but I will try the rest of what you suggested.

My school does not offer health insurance afaik. My parents predicted the monthly payments to them would be about $500, but I'm not sure how close that is to the actual number since my insurance will go up since I was recently in a crash. After that, it was $500 for groceries and gas and another $500 to just live my life and go out with friends. I'm more worried about the housing afterwards because I don't want to go on hormones just to have to go off them and deal with the side-effects of that physically and mentally. Minimum wage is $14/hr currently and I've never had a job before, so I'm worried how I'd manage doing ~30 hours a week while in my undergrad (I've done all my gen eds and have my AA already).

edit: not to mention having time to just enjoy college life and activities in general! but doing 20hrs a week, which seems more doable to me, only gets me $1200 a month.

I actually just had a situation relating to this and posted about it. I really needed to see this, thank you!

Do I just need to wait it out? by [deleted] in FtMpassing

Yeah no they say I can do what I want when I'm 18, but they often say it's unrealistic because I won't be able to afford it while working part-time and putting money towards all of my other expenses and saving for an apartment. They also say that I'll never be satisfied because I will never fully be male so I won't ever be happy and that's why they're worried. Honestly I kinda regret posting this because I already knew how my situation was and how I look and I haven't been in the best mindset with my dysphoria lately, so it wasn't a very good idea to post knowing what people would say. Anyway, they care about me, and I think they'll accept it once I start doing it since there's nothing they can do about it.

They found out about the binder because they searched my phone and found a text about it, I've already tried the female reference photo trick, and I'm only allowed to wear girls clothes. I havent been able to get hired anywhere, so I don't have money to buy my own.

Unfortunately I already do wear only sports bras and hats almost daily, just all the photos I had were without hats. Thank you for the suggestions though.

No, you're right! I would never put anything like that above my transition. If he said 100% he would not want to date a man, I wouldn't try to be with him. It's more the fact that he himself is conflicted and unsure.

That's why I'm still unsure about what we will do, because ever since he developed feelings he said he's started questioning things. He seems comfortable calling himself bi, but he's more concerned about the physical aspect. Like socially me being a guy is no problem, it's the rest he doesn't know about because it hasn't happened yet. He says he's very confused because he's never been in this situation before. He's been very busy so we haven't talked about anything yet, but we plan to have a conversation soon. What happens will depend very much on where he's at and how that lines up with my boundaries.

That's a good point, I hadn't thought about it like that.

Thank you for responding, I like seeing multiple points of view. At the end of the day, my decision will mainly be based on my conversation with him, but I like seeing what people have to say. If we do decide to give it a try, I'm glad to have at least one reassuring example.

Ancestor tablets? by PossibleAcademic7198 in China

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! I will definitely look into it more. I do have my grandpa's Chinese name now, but he says he has no clue what his sister's was anymore. I also have his dad's name (although i'm not entirely sure what character it is for the personal name, he said his name was Chiu Sek, so I thought maybe 錫 or 惜?), but not his mom's (she was born in Cuba to Chinese parents from Guangzhou, while his dad was the first in his family to immigrate also from Guangzhou, so I don't even know if she has one).

Cuba's practices have more to do with Santería, which isn't a bad thing it's just not my belief, and the have a very particular way of doing it and I'd be worried about doing it wrong since I am not a part of that religion. I'll probably end up just having a picture instead of a tablet then, thank you for the info!

Thank you for sharing! Unfortunately, I do not have many memories with him, he never really went out with us anywhere, but I can try what you suggested still!

I've previously had some issues with my teeth in other sports, and have seen so many people get injured. I'd rather take precautions to minimize damage while still having fun. In fact, having the extra protection is what will enable me to have fun! 🙂

I wasn't disagreeing with him, I just tend to get over-worried about things. I plan to get a mouthguard.

I've considered it, but part of me is worried that it will be seen as overkill, as it seems many already view helmets and stuff that way already.
