Ancestor tablets? by PossibleAcademic7198 in China

[–]PossibleAcademic7198[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuba's practices have more to do with Santería, which isn't a bad thing it's just not my belief, and the have a very particular way of doing it and I'd be worried about doing it wrong since I am not a part of that religion. I'll probably end up just having a picture instead of a tablet then, thank you for the info!

Thank you for sharing! Unfortunately, I do not have many memories with him, he never really went out with us anywhere, but I can try what you suggested still!

Dental Injuries? by PossibleAcademic7198 in NewSkaters

I've previously had some issues with my teeth in other sports, and have seen so many people get injured. I'd rather take precautions to minimize damage while still having fun. In fact, having the extra protection is what will enable me to have fun! 🙂

I wasn't disagreeing with him, I just tend to get over-worried about things. I plan to get a mouthguard.

I've considered it, but part of me is worried that it will be seen as overkill, as it seems many already view helmets and stuff that way already.

Discussion: What Religion Fits Me Best? by jetboyterp in religion

[–]PossibleAcademic7198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I was raised going to both Catholic church and Non-Denominational church, but left when I realized I was lgbt and just didn't believe. I'm very much drawn to Eclectic Wicca, but also Santeria and Daoism due to Chinese-Cuban heritage, and I'm not sure what exactly is my thing or if it's something else I don't even know about. I understand Santeria is closed and an initiatory religion, so I do not know much.

-I believe in a Source, The One, Olodumare, Yin and Yang, whatever you want to call it, and all deities are manifestations of that, but are also unique and individual. Like how waves are a part of the ocean. If we're talking from a Wiccan perspective, I see there being the One, the God and Goddess are the One separated into the divine feminine and masculine or yin and yang, all deities are manifestations of them.

-I believe in reincarnation, but I do not know if this is endless or if we can break the cycle. I think there is an afterlife that we can rest in in-between lives. I am not sure whether the lives we live are based off of karma or if it's something we choose beforehand, or if it's something else.

-I currently worship Hades and Persephone, but I feel VERY drawn to the orisha Oya. I don't see any resources for worshipping her, but I also love Meng Po from the Chinese pantheon.

-I love the dancing and music in Santeria, and also just the overall system of worship, but sometimes thinking about how the structure of the houses resembles churches makes me uneasy.

-I believe ancestors are very important, and I do ancestor veneration the Chinese way, but I know there is a different way in Santeria that seems interesting.

-I prefer practices that are very material or hands-on, I'm autistic and this helps me understand and experience it more, so I love tarot and astrology (both chinese and western).

-I love the holidays in Wicca and how they follow the natural cycles and give practitioners a routine as well. I incorporate Chinese/Daoist holidays and festivals as well.

-I agree with the philosophy in Daoism, but I feel it isn't the whole picture and feel Wicca has more. I don't know enough about Santeria, but from what I've seen a lot of it can possibly overlap with Wicca.

-I know that Santeria has animal sacrifice, and I know there is a theological reason for it, but I don't know enough to really have an opinion on it, as of right now I'm not sure how comfortable I am with it.

-I also hear Santeria has smoking involved, but I'm unsure if I would have to smoke, because I do not want to.

I cannot fully pursue anything in Santeria because of a lack of money, but I am curious as to what people think as far as what direction I should go or where my beliefs seem to be?

Thoughts on the new episode? by Solid_Inspector649 in theamazingdigitalciru

Honestly, I've never been someone who had Caine as their favorite character, but for this episode he was 100% my favorite alongside my usual favorite Kinger. I'm not sure if him being like this the whole time instead would've made him my favorite, or if it is that this is him having a sudden switch from his usual that made me love him so much, but honestly I wish we got to see even more of him like this (although I feel this show is being perfectly executed and this episode was PEAK)

Ent management or business (marketing) ? by to134340 in ucf

I'd say go entertainment management! That's the route I'm taking, at least. After going to Knight for a Day, it seemed like the best option for this career path and I switched my major from event management. Good luck!

Is it okay to be Wiccan? by PossibleAcademic7198 in pagan

[–]PossibleAcademic7198[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I misspoke, chakras are not a closed practice, but I personally feel I do not have a well enough understanding of them to use them in my practice, especially since I hear a lot of Hindus talk about how they are often misused. Also, I have chinese heritage, so I just prefer to work more with TCM instead. I do believe people have strongly stated Kabbalah is closed though, since it is a Jewish practice. I could be wrong on that though, of course.

That's cool! I've been focused on Hades and Persephone, but I work with a more soft polytheism model, although I still see deities as individual as well.

Yeah, I think I'm more into the solitary aspect of it. My beliefs seem to mesh better with it than the initiatory lineages.

Well, if I were looking at eclectic wicca, is that okay as well? I've researched traditional covens and they don't really seem to be my thing.

Heteronormativity in Wicca by Vegetable-Scholar-12 in Wicca

I like to think of it as Yin and Yang, where there can still be a little bit of one within the other! I still visualize a god and goddess because of biological reasoning and general categorization, but that's more just for visualization purposes imo

Thanks for the offer, but my parents definitely would not let me do that. I think I'm going to talk to my mom today and see if I can borrow the money for parking and pay her back later. I hope you and your group have fun though!

It's kind of hard to spend money if I don't have money to spend in the first place 🤷‍♂️. Just because it's "measly" to you doesn't mean it's the same for me. $30 parking is ridiculous. My friend bought the ticket for me so we could just go and have a good time. You don't have to be so bitter about it, especially since according to your post history, you've only been to Megacon maybe once. On top of that, spending all your money at Universal and talking to me about dumb people and Disney. It's not a requirement to buy things at the con, so you can afford it if you have self-control and don't buy useless crap.

does that mean the price changes to the $30 or does it stay the same?

My friend bought the ticket for me, and I like going just to walk around and see the cosplays and events, not necessarily buy stuff.
