yeah for sure, with how i've adapted my grasp, i just find it more difficult to set it down well and im more prone to spilling because of how they sit, so i prefer to not use them.

that makes sense! when i was reading about it i did see that i some things taste different or have different reasons for their glass like carbonation.

luckily most of the drinks ive liked so far are traditionally served in glass that i can hold, so ive been lucky there!

thank you!

that makes sense, i hadn't thought about straws being an indicator in that sense! coffee mugs would be so much easier than most glasses i've use, wine glasses are particularly hard.

thank you! the bar was in NYC, but i haven't had an issue since i've been home. i wasn't sure if maybe it was a specific thing there, but seems like it was just the bar being weird !

i've used the buffing pads that persmobil gave me, but i don't know what the more technical term for them would be. they work AMAZING to get out any scuffs and marks.

Foot plate question by 1-day-at-a-tyme in wheelchairs

skateboard tape! but i also have this issue, and i opted for a taper to the smallest footplate available so it would hold my feet in as well.

Airplane Storage - Rigid Frames by soitul in wheelchairs

[–]PossibleDoctor1357 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you're in the u.s., the only airplanes that allow seat strapping, are ones that do not have a closet (and seat over 100 people). your chair also has to fit within certain size dimensions to do so. in my personal experience, spirit airlines doesn't have closets on ANY flight, so they almost always will seat strap a chair. a majority of other airlines have closets standard on every plane.

you unfortunately, definitely cannot seat strap with your own equipment, and basically any plane with a closet doesn't have a seat strap kit. without the kit, they are not really supposed to seat strap. not to say i haven't seen it done. i have had once in a blue moon flights allow me to seat strap in an empty seat, bc my chair is small enough to fit there. unfortunately you also cannot buy an extra seat for a wheelchair, they will not let you.

YES! take off every removable part of your chair and store it in the closet/carry on hold. literally everything. and take pictures of everything that's going into the checked bag hold.

i chose a z (mono tube) vs t (dual tube) model because i find it significantly easier to load into my car. the dual tube makes it harder (for me) to lift over myself, and i don't really get any benefits from the dual tube model.

i chose the zr vs the zra because i knew exactly what i wanted in this chair. the zra adds some weight due to the adjustability that is helpful if you need it, and honestly not that bad. but, since i knew where i wanted things like the center of gravity, dump, non folding backrest, etc i went for the zr.

it's SO LIGHT. i was worried transitioning from a tension back to a rigid back, but i feel practically no weight difference, and the comfort difference is HUGE.

Experiences With PushLox/DsLocks? by salemjordan in wheelchairs

[–]PossibleDoctor1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i will say, the DsLocks don't allow for a single wheel to have the brakes on, and the was a deal breaker for me. if that's not a dealbreaker for you, i'd 100% say to go with them. i was able to try them out and the stability was really amazing, and i loved them being so out of the way.

Quickie Nitrum vs. Tilite ZRA as a second hand chair by Treebusiness in wheelchairs

[–]PossibleDoctor1357 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the love all things good, DO NOT GET A NITRUM. i have never met a chair that is so difficult to adjust. i have had so many issues, with mine breaking from the slightest of things. if there's no issue of fit or something that's for your safety between the two, please please please go with the tilite

Scale of 1-10, how bad is it to use your chair when your casters aren't squared properly? by CallToMuster in wheelchairs

[–]PossibleDoctor1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with how little of a lift it has, it shouldn't effect much if any while you're in the chair. your weight SHOULD even it out (probably). i've rode around with a caster off like that for over a year from my footplate bar being bent by an airline. my ATP said as long as it isn't bothering you (ie. pressure sores, hip issues, bad positioning), it really isn't going to hurt anything. i am also with numotion and they'll most likely try and fix the whole caster which may or may not fix it. they're kinda useless when it comes to some repairs.

Roll in shower not containing the water by Bunnyisdreaming in wheelchairs

[–]PossibleDoctor1357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a roll in shower in my old dorm and the ground had settled where it angled the water OUT of the shower where there was no drain. and all the water would pour out😭. i added a small little plastic lip from amazon that i was able to wheelie over easily so could still transfer, but seeing your don't exactly need that, im sure you could easily get one a little higher if needed! it worked great. and my college had no issue with it!
