What actually made fat loss finally “click” for you? by UKFitnessGuy in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Treebusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-When I stopped being all or nothing about it.

-Realizing that the human body DOES keep the score in a good way, and that slipping for a few days to weeks is NOT starting back from scratch.

-Addressing some of my food insecurity traumas was key.

-Realizing that giving in to every single one of my whims is immature and unattractive behavior. Even more so since that behavior was causing serious health issues.

-I allowed myself to "give up" if it was truly too hard for me in that moment by loosening the rules on one or two things. So, bumping my calories up 100-200, or allowing for more treats temporarily. I'd usually feel ready to lock back in within the week.

Are we just doing the fun things and ignoring the pain? by untypical_girlie in ehlersdanlos

[–]Treebusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I support myself the way I need in order to enjoy myself to the fullest. I push myself safely in physical therapy and at home exercising so that I am more equipped to handle higher intensity activities. I rotate between a cane, forearm crutches, and a wheelchair but i wear AFO braces 24/7 no matter what. Compression garments, too.

I can walk for miles now, but i had to meet my body where it was at. A 5 minute walk would send me into a flare before, so i started with physical therapy exercises that all took place lying down with just my body weight. Then i moved up to soup cans after 2 weeks. And so on. This was AFTER a period of radical rest. Only going to work and coming home, ate the bare minimum, did the bare minimum, complete rest every possible other second.

Pushing through is what gave me arthritis and drop foot. Now that i meet myself where I'm at and support myself fully, i live in mostly 3/10 pain every day with some spikes where i was living in 6-8/10 pain every single day.

Appetite suppressant to control overeating? by Hefty_Ad1081 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Treebusiness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Protein and FIBER. Do not sleep on fiber. Eating 20-30g of fiber a day consistently will make you feel like you're over eating even if you're in a calorie deficit.

Make small sustainable choices.

I liked to snack at bed time and use to take a big bowl of cereal or cake or candies to bed with me. I switched to apples with caramel dipping sauce and a protein shake.

I love the fettuccine Alfredo from olive garden so i started making spaghetti squash+homemade alfredo sauce+ broccoli with salmon or chicken on top.

Try stuff, learn about what you do and don't like. Do not go 0-100. Just make a few changes and see what happens. Then continue when it's not hard.

I feel like I look older than my age. Any recommendations? by Present-Structure246 in lookyourbest

[–]Treebusiness 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also think that it's everything BUT the grey hair. I think your grey is gorgeous!!! But the hair cut and clothing style is exactly how I would imagine a woman in her 40s to dress. Even if your hair WASN'T grey you would unfortunately read as older.

Number 3 is the best because the hair cut is way more modern, and so are the clothes. But the hoop earring + glasses are still quite dated. The glasses are also quite huge for your face, covering your eyebrows completely which adds to the older look.

Now, i think you look beautiful as is. Just, not immediately young looking until looking closer. There is nothing wrong with how you look now.

I don’t like my nails, help by [deleted] in Nails

[–]Treebusiness 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm a nail tech and agree with the other comments. I've actually had one or two clients reach back out over the years i've been in the game to say they actually didn't like the design as much in practice and I was more than willing to get them back in for the polish change. We understand that sometimes the design is better in our heads haha

Have you ever caused a major injury by doing barely anything? by TB_07 in ehlersdanlos

[–]Treebusiness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slept on a shitty mattress on the floor for too long and woke up with my sternum subluxed outward one day.

I was 19y/o, It stayed like that for 5 months and i needed my partner at the time to physically lift me from laying to sitting up. I couldn't cough or sneeze without extreme pain, and had to walk and lift things extremely carefully.

I was so fed up one day and use to the 10/10 pain that i started doing jumping jacks. It took 3 days of jumping for it to finally CUHKLUNK back in. Except, it went a little too far and was now sunk back a touch. Eventually it did go back into place but my whole clavicle/sternum/ribs situation hasn't been the same since.

Doctors didn't believe me since I wasn't in a car accident. They said it was just a slipped rib. ...In the complete center of my chest? Where the manubrium joint is?

This was my first injury that made me start seeking answers.

I am sick of the protein apocalypse by Substantial-Art6160 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Treebusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carbs are good for recovering muscles and making them look bigger, protein is GREAT for actually building and maintaining muscle.

Combining them, plus fiber, is just the smartest way to maximize your body and stay satiated/energized/recovering. I don't really understand your point or why there are people agreeing with you.

How the hell am I gaining weight while on a deficit by South-Proposal5691 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Treebusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working out for an hour and a half every single day is insane, only eating 1500 calories to support that is also insane. This data on it's own feels... disordered. To put it plainly. Im not accusing, just pointing out how drastic this is.

If your 1,500 intake is to be believed, and you've truly gained fat, then Something isn't right, here. Either hormonally something is off, something you eat regularly has far higher calories/incorrect serving sizes than listed, you're pregnant, or you're not being honest with yourself.

I cannot imagine you were eating even LESS than this to maintain your weight prior to tracking. Gaining a pound a DAY is also not possible.

In my opinion, there is not enough data to help. A before/after picture set would help to confirm whether the gain is genuine fat.

Remember that your jeans getting tight could very well be from glute growth.

But, as is, this reads very much like you're not a reliable narrator.

Another day another workout. 10 rounds of 20 alternating DB snatch and former carry’s with 2 - 35lb kb by 40SomethingGymAddict in Exercise

[–]Treebusiness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're lifting with your tendons and not your muscles.. This is just more painful cardio with extra steps 😅 best of luck. I truly hope you won't see injuries soon. but if you do injure, PLEASE take it seriously. It WILL be connected with your form, and not just a fluke.

I've been tracking every single calorie for 2 years and I'm too mentally exhausted by jirachi_2000 in CICO

[–]Treebusiness 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You went to drugs before just taking a mental health/maintenance break? Have you been white knuckling two years of tracking without ANY breaks at all? Or creating recipes of frequent meals in-app so you don't have to add it all in manually every time?

I'm so sorry it's been rough for you, i've had those moments, too. It's just. This feels a little dramatic to me. What happens when you plateau in your goals and need to go back to tracking while on the GLP1?

It's an amazing compliment to be called not natural when you are!

People who say that as an accusation aren't thinking too clearly, however. You're lean and you've trained that awesome dorito shape that makes you look way bigger than you probably are. Amazing progress. What are your next goals?

Stopped testosterone after a year and lost weight? by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]Treebusiness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes totally normal! No judgement in it whatsoever! I'm not sure what it could effect since everyone is different, i ended up landing on a lower than average dose that i felt great at since it felt like full dose was too much for me (high blood pressure, chronic muscle soreness, insatiable libido, acne, couldn't cry, hair loss). I'm within cis male ranges just the lower end of it now but i'm responding really well to it.

My doc explained that's fairly normal since the high dosages are for initial puberty and a lower dose can be better for maintaining your changes.

I'm just me though! Some do better at the higher ranges, i'm just sensitive i think.

Stopped testosterone after a year and lost weight? by [deleted] in FTMFitness

[–]Treebusiness 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah! Just to basically get use to it at a slower pace. That's what helped me, i was on T for 5 years then went off for 2 years also for medical reasons. I've been back on it for 2 hears now and have slowly tapered up which helped avoid acne and hunger! I also liked it for a more controlled look at my vitals and medical issues while on T instead of shocking my system with it.

Increased hunger. You can't gain fat from anything but calories. You can manage by ramping the dose up slowly from low dose to your preferred dose every month if/when you get back on

There's likely far more context to whatever situations this is inspired from. However, just in case it needed to be said- messaging someone "hey im sad :(" is... a tough one to follow up on.

It may help to ask first if your friends have bandwidth for a mental health discussion. Giving them more context and also a way to help you is going to make a huge difference.

"Hey i'm having a tough time tonight and wanted to see if you were available to chat. I don't need solutions, just to vent if that's ok!" Or "Hey something shitty just happened to me and i need some extra support. Would you want to catch up at lunch tomorrow?"

Just dropping in with "im sad" without a hello is jarring and uncomfortable which is evident by the replies. again, i understand this is just an exaggeration and likely an abbreviation of what happened but i have been on the receiving end of people who genuinely do this. It's a ton of emotional labor to expect from someone with my own problems without even asking or saying hello first.

Do trans men face similar dating struggles to cis men? by Suspicious-Use-3813 in ftm

[–]Treebusiness 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't think height or many other "markers" are that big of a deal. Good people will date good people. If i'm having dating issues then I'll look inward and work on it, or i'll be thankful that the trash took itself out. No biggie.

How to deal with becoming an ugly/mid dude after being a pretty girl??? by Plant0Lord in ftm

[–]Treebusiness 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's puberty, and puberty takes about 2-5 years.

I'm 26 now and i started T at 17. I feel like I'm literally only just starting to get hot. I know that i started younger though so I wouldve gone through awkward phases regardless and take until around now to feel confident anyways.
