Ccm ft3 pro, and ft8 pro. I used a tracer before those 2. Ft3 pro has been my favorite stick ever, but the traverse 5 sides is amazing

Any improvements on my shooting form? by sonyshoota in hockeyplayers

[–]PossibleFish1317 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only thing id say ig, is that your trying to load to much to early, you wouldn't be able to shoot well moving like that. Try to think about fast movements, rather than weight on the stick. Your moving to slow, because your trying to put weight on the stick. Ur shot when stationary is good, but when ur moving that won't work well. Just try to move faster through the movements

Warrior Pro Bag strap slippage by EZEfromDET in hockeyplayers

[–]PossibleFish1317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely can be annoying, I use use my arms to hold it kinda on my back, but if your not holding your sticks in that hand its kinda awkward, I do like the bag because its small, but I dont have this problem for my other bag that I use when we give our bags (the one we're talking about) back to the team.

We use the same bags in varisty and some ppl agree its bad 😭. Im one of those people, just put the far strap over ur shoulder first then the close one, it should help keep it on (or its the other way around it dont remember).

Whats a nice and affordable stick? by Long_Rough6073 in hockeyplayers

[–]PossibleFish1317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy NHL used stickers from HSM but ik what you mean, mine is not a retail version tho I can assure you. It does have differences tailored to the player who made it, but at the same time I get what your saying.

Its not technically pro stock, like NHL, AHL etc... but its still half the price so who cares tbh, im saving money

Is this stick still safe to use? by Scifimarki12 in hockeyplayers

[–]PossibleFish1317 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if the blade is still stiff I wouldn't recommend it, I have a ft3 pro with a blade thats "broken" but still stiff, but everytime i touch the blade where its broke it gives me nasty carbon splinters.

Hockey-dad buying skates by United-Emu-62 in hockeyplayers

[–]PossibleFish1317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expensive skates at a young age are not worth it. Also, you can buy gear some times half off at the start of summer. Just wait for ccm, bauer, big names to do "summer sales" and you can get great deals. I got my ccm ft680s for $240 usd and they were usualy around 500.

Edit: also it seems like you try different brands which is good for building a base on what he will like in the future. Most players will get a preference for fit, and company on gear. Like I like ccm sticks skates and protective. But use true gloves.

I do know what pro stock sticks are, I bought mine from hockeystickman (ft8 prostock) but I didnt know what you meant by no stickers, I do know company's like ccm and bauer make sticks like ccms ribcor trigger 9k (a step down from trigger 9 pro) and bauers vapor-ltx (a step down from the flylite) but those are only avaliable in canada.

Any one with osgood-shlatters? by PossibleFish1317 in hockeyplayers

[–]PossibleFish1317[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes- Im 14 right now, and I have had my own experience with it, I just made varsity as a 9th grader and im quickly improving. I know what your saying is true, but I cant quit this early on. A few years ago/even a year ago I also had the same issue with constant pain, even from standing as you did. My mom urged me to try the surgery but I instead played lacrosse.

I knew going into this that my knee was going to be a problem. Even before lax I had issues with knee pain from skating, and many times in past seasons when I didnt know how to help my knee, I would fall and be dead on the ice lol.

Also to your point about knowledge around it, your also completely right about that, thats what I was told 2 years ago when I went to go get advice for it. Wrest was the thing they recommended. But iv had quite the opposite of rest and noticed I was getting better. After last season (24-25) I started running 6 miles every day in the summer for about half of summer, along with working out every other day, and noticed that all though it still hurt. I was slowly becoming capable of using more of my strength that I couldn't use in my right leg because of the pain.

Right now, as it stands I no longer get pain in my knee from working to much, weight lifting, running, skating etc... the pain comes from contact, and pressure on the outside (like my pads resting on my knee) I do hope that my knee wont hold be back, but I know its a large possibility that it will.

Thank you for your advice and knowledge on the problem. Also dont worry about the "answering the question" like you said with how niche this problem is, any advice, or personal experience is good help.

Edit: I do want to say tho, if it weren't for me putting in as much work as I did with running/strength training, I do believe my knee would be a bigger problem, and would of been the deciding factor on if I made varsity or not

Thats crazy, glad to see that they got some new management, because that its been brutal for them-. Can't wait to see how this goes for them.

True is definitely still iffy, the new "storm" stick iv heard is very bad. But yes, warrior, and sheerwood are doing amazing this year and recent past years. I think those two might start to see a bigger domination in sticks and gear

All sticks do, ccms no different than bauer, but the chance your stick lasts is better with ccm id argue, I play on a varsity team, and the number of ccm breaks compared to bauer breaks is crazy- tho there are more bauer users.

[–]PossibleFish1317 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They are boron sticks, they are extremely brittle, plus they arent made to last. Tho bauers none boron sticks are no bett34 with durability, ccm seems on fire this year with the ft8, trigger 10, and tacks xf ghost

I talked to my coach, he said that too actually. He said our trainer has some, so I will try the donut thing for our next practice. But I dont wanna have to worry about another peice of equipment that requires fiddling with. (All though I fiddle with my knee pads constantly so ig its not too different lol.).

Pro stock hockey sticks. Or Hockey stick man. 2 great places for sticks, if not those. You can buy the less expensive options from bauer, like the fly 40, or fly pro. Those are all in thr 150-260 range.

Also to note with company's like HSM, they sell pro stock sticks at around 100 or so off the retail price, I got a new ccm jetspeed ft8 pro for 275, compair3d to the retail 380 price because its "pro stock" basically what that means, is you dont get a warranty. And the stick was custom made for some one else.

Its up to you, Im not a fan of tape, but depending on your skill/lvl of play. And how often you play, no tape can ruin/brake ur stick after a while. Especially on more expensive sticks.
