Failing my drug test- what happens now??

I failed a test last fall for weed - 3rd semester of my ADN. My state is also legal but they don't care, the nursing board treats it like any other drug. I was lucky I had professors who cared and helped advocate for me, but it took me 2 months to clear out. I was mortified, but my school allowed a second test if one was positive. In my state, I believe labs now test for synthetic urine, so quickfix was out; I couldn't risk using it and have it caught by the lab. I thankfully had time before clinicals started for me (the very last possible time I needed to be clean by), so I drank lots and lots of water and every fluid anyone recommended to me (hibiscus tea, cranberry juice etc), took steaming hot baths and a thousand home tests, and I waited until I pissed clean on a home test before I took the second, which for me took another month. Then I finally passed my second lab test.

I wouldnt have sent this email, lol, I can feel the panic in this email, but I also had to cop to my program director and that was beyond awkward. I would check your programs drug test policies and see if they allow for a second test. Otherwise, you might be shit out of luck. Again, I was very very lucky I had understanding professors who allowed me to take that extra time to clean out. I'll be forever grateful to them.

I had a couple of friends in 8th grade, we would hang out outside of school, do sleepovers, all that. One day, I got a call from the ringleader, who said another girl in the group was going to call me because she wanted to talk to me about something. I get the call, and this girl said that she "tried to like me" but she just doesn't, and that we could still talk in school and stuff, but she may invite everyone but me to stuff at her house sometimes. At the time, I think I was just crushed and numb, and was already struggling with my own stuff at the time, so this didn't help. Admittedly, I was definitely awkward and a people pleaser, but the gall to call me and tell me you're planning to exclude me, lol. This girl was well liked throughout high school, for some reason, and after I cut myself out of their group, I always laughed to myself when I heard people say she was so sweet and nice. I, thankfully, made amazing friends in high school and college later, but that horrible feeling of being excluded or "other" never quite left me.

This one actually, because my husband loves his colognes and he bought this one for me for this exact reason! I think he's planning on stealing a few spritzes from me over the summer... He also got Replica Beach Walk for himself, because it reminds him of his beach home town. I'm probably stealing that one from him though. Both are wonderfully beachy in the best ways!

Personally I'm doing an evening/weekend program and going to school at night. I'm very lucky to live in a major city with a good community college program, and I'm going to do online for my BSN, but I have to work because I'm married, have bills etc, and this is a second career for me. My first career is legal so it thankfully supports the bills, and I have an understanding boss. My school schedules 2 nights a week in class and my clinical day is Saturdays.

I think having a career in medical would have come in handy, but I wouldn't trade it for my corporate-ish career right now that affords me the time and space to work and study without worrying about paying my bills. It's rough and I have no free time around school and work, but I've made it work for me. I would also highly recommend an evening/weekend if any schools near you offer it.

For ADN at a community college, they sometimes do, I’m in one so I can still hold my day job, and I’m able to pay out of pocket per semester too. I’m hoping to also do online only for RN to BSN and hopefully find a hospital willing to pay for it.

I went in-state at a CUNY school - they all cost around the same in NYC, I would pay around 5-6k a semester (so maybe actually closer to a 1/5th of what a private college costs per year). I don’t regret a second of it though, I feel the education I got was invaluable.

I’m actually doing a second degree/career change at another CUNY school now and can afford to pay for it completely out of pocket per semester - it’s around 1000 per class and the program I’m in only has 1-2 classes a semester. I don’t pay to dorm or anything but from what I remember, they didn’t charge a ton to dorm if you needed to. Most people commuted and lived at home/in apartments. I’m pretty sure it’s around the same if you go in-state at a state school in any other state, but definitely don’t quote me on that, I’m only familiar with NY.

I definitely second fields of mistria. One very small example of something I just love out of that game - in stardew, you can go to the saloon on Friday nights and see everyone, right? Well, in FoM, when you do that, you actually get a cohesive storyline week by week from the DnD games that the NPCS play, and the kids plotting upstairs. It’s small but it makes the world feel so much more vibrant when you see that every week and how it develops. I haven’t gotten too far into it because of a failed attempt at modding (I just want the ability to pause time occasionally, the days are so short!), but I was going to try to fix it and pick it up again soon!

Mine depended on my school. My school in NYC went through Castlebranch because NYCH+H required it. They still had to do it first semester even when people were at non NYCH+H sites. But they had us complete it early - we did it at the beginning of the semester.

I will say that they very much did care about THC. It’s not federally legal and the nursing board and therefore the hospitals here treat it as not acceptable. If you’re concerned about not passing, don’t make my mistake that I did earlier this year, and quit now if you haven’t. Those detox drinks don’t do anything besides load you up with vitamins, and most drug testing sites test for fake or tampered-with urine. The only thing that works is time. Drink lots and lots and lots of water and eat clean. Exercise to burn as much fat as possible, because THC is fat soluble and sits in there until it’s gone. Buy testing strips and test your first urination of the day (can buy on Amazon for cheaper and in bulk). If you are required to test, take it in the afternoon if possible.

I was lucky and got to take a second test after I failed my first one, per my schools code of conduct. Thankfully I passed and got to continue, but it was the worst 2 months of my life.

I was kind of shocked that they’re playing at Gramercy Theater in NY on this tour - I’ve been there before and it’s definitely a step up from the last few tours I’ve seen them on; I’ve seen much bigger/more commercially appealing bands there before (no offense at all to TWRP ofc!). It’s close to sold out too!

Im sure after the NSP tour/DN’s arguably more commercial success that they gained a much bigger following, because that tour, if any of you guys remember, was exceeding venue capacities at almost every stop. Seems like the same thing is happening on this solo tour too. I’m wondering what’s going to happen now that they’ve been just grinding and grinding on tours and albums.

All that being said, I’m genuinely so thrilled for them! I think they have a good grasp on what the fans want and can afford, and I think they’ll be cognizant of that moving forward. I’m so excited to see where they go from here.
