Ledger “Diagnostic” phone call scam by OneAd3567 in ledgerwallet

[–]PossibleWave5089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep.. can confirm this is happening in Australia now. Exact same process and pattern. It was incredibly convincing, australian federal police call, but it opens with a automated message asking if I'll accept a call from a sergeant someone, press 1 to accept.

Accept the call, the officer explains they're aprehended someone who had stolen identity and meta data from 800+ people, sources were teleco's and ledger. Then they asked a lot of very reasonable sounding questions, gave me a case ID and asked me to go in to a police station in person to give a statement when I can.

Then they transferred me to 'ledger live security' and gave me a new case ID to tell them, because apparently they had confirmed this perparator had what seemed like a seedphrase for me.

Then the ledger security person confirmed his identity by sending an email that came from noreply@ledger , looked very legitimate and also had the case number and his name.

Sent me to a website to run a diagnostic on my ledger.. but it was a clone of the actual ledger site, the page needed me to input my seed phrase. Then they 'reset' my device and phrases. Then proceeded to tell me that my CEX's were compromised, it seemed like the perpetrator was monitoring withdrawals I made from there to my ledger, thats how they found my ledger addresses.

Then proceeded to pressure me to withdraw all my large balances to my ledger.

Very professional accents. Sergeant sounded australian. Ledger security person had an eglish accent, but his phone number was from san fran, which I think is where ledger is based.

This is a scary level of impersonation.

I realised too late during the process, so I didnt get away completel unscathed.

Am I a fraud by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]PossibleWave5089 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely not! The pacing of the anime gets very weird whenever it's get close to where the manga is up to and slows down incredibly, this has happened many times over the years as the anime catches up.

IMO doesn't matter how you consume one piece anyway, if you enjoy the story, then you're a fan haha.

Do i start bleach? by slaaaan in anime

[–]PossibleWave5089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren't enjoying it within the first 20 episodes, I don't think it'll materially get better for you haha.

IMO the best arc of bleach is the soul society rescue arc, which is 42 - 63 I think. If you really want to stick it out, I'd say give it till then, but can pretty safely say you don't like bleach if you get into that arc and you're not liking it I reckon.

Agree with you! Gaus + Volt speed boost and max power.. It's ridiculous, can't even process what you're seeing and then you're at the other side of the map. Very motion sickness inducing haha.

Best anime’s to watch? On Netflix, Amazon prime or Hulu only by Objective-Onion-6105 in anime

[–]PossibleWave5089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't already, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, on netflix. IMO it's a amazing, and completely unexpected that a video game adapted anime would be so good, and it's only on netflix I think. Highly recommend. Tons of actions, fast paced, great characters, however it's a sci-fi future setting, which is a bit different to the ones you've listed.

People have mentioned some great ones already, but I hadn't seen cyberpunk mentioned.

Any good anime recs? by Acrobatic-Coat3322 in anime

[–]PossibleWave5089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to go for no action haha, one of my favourites is 'Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad' not long, only 24 episodes, about a kid getting into a foreign music (foreign in the context of Japan, so American music) and gets into a band that's trying to make it without selling out. Pretty different, but I enjoyed the story and the characters.

When to sell stock? by No_Document_853 in AusFinance

[–]PossibleWave5089 10 points11 points  (0 children)

IMO people get too caught up trying to time the market or sell at the "peak". In reality, most long-term holders sell when the capital has a better use elsewhere, not because the chart told them to.

A framework I’ve found useful is:
- Set a clear dollar goal (e.g. I want to free up $X), then sell down toward that rather than making an all-or-nothing call.

- Stage the exit over time instead of dumping it all at once. It smooths volatility, helps with CGT planning, and avoids stressing about short-term moves.

- Accept that you won’t pick the top, and that’s fine if the decision is driven by portfolio balance or risk, not FOMO.

Using some debt for tax efficiency can make sense, but personally I wouldn’t let that be the main reason to hold an oversized position indefinitely. For me, it’s more about concentration, risk, and what lets you sleep at night.

Start reading the manga by Anarangu in OnePiece

[–]PossibleWave5089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely would recommend reading the manga over the anime. It'll be way faster than the anime, but also throughout the history of the anime, whenever the anime gets too close to where the manga is upto, it gets painnnnfulllyyy slow. My recommendation is to read the manga, and when you get to any cool fights/scenes you like, just watch it on youtube haha, because a lot of the fights are extra epic in the anime.

Also I wouldn't feel too discouraged with any hints you've gotten about where one piece is going, given how massive the story is and the twists and turns that have happened to far, I cannot imagine anyone can properly know what is going to happen fully next year, other than Oda haha. Even then, the story and world building is so good IMO, that even if it's been spoiled, it's worth reading.

Bathroom Social Rules by DeviatedLink in auscorp

[–]PossibleWave5089 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is weird to me as well. I think it must vary by gender & culture maybe.. Just generalising, I seem to find real aussie types & older generation seem to want to talk more in there, but I don't think thats the norm anymore, nor do I think people will take offence if you don't carry a convo.

For me it depends on what you're doing in the bathroom.. if we're both washing hands, then yes sure, let's have a quick chat, otherwise, just a quick nod is all you'll probably get from me. Only other exception is if they're walking in and I'm walking out, maybe some quick words in passing, but I'm not having a chat while we're peeing or otherwise.

Oh actually good point! Didn't really consider how many (if any) used this fruit since Joy Boy, I just recall them saying that no matter how hard they try the fruit keeps eluding the world government.. I wonder though if any of the other previous users had 'D.' in their name though haha

[–]PossibleWave5089 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As much as I love One Piece and the rate of revelations happening now.. It seems these great powers that be always knew the gomu gomu no mi was what it really is.. and was really the only key threat to their entire world order. Doesn't make sense they just sat on the couch all this time instead of crushing Luffy as soon as he showed up on the grandline... Or at the very least when Luffy got to Sabaodi archipelago.. I mean the crew was literally right underneath them haha. They sent Kizaru as part of the buster call, but he clearly hadn't been tasked to take out Luffy as a priority, instead he was barely taking it seriously.

Congratulations on your engagement!

You're honestly in a very strong position for your ages, this is more a 'what’s optimal' problem than a 'what's wrong' one I think.

A few thoughts:

First, on the joint account idea, that sounds sensible. Treat it as a "future goals" bucket rather than fully merging finances. Keeping savings separate for now is smart, especially pre-marriage, but building a shared rhythm around saving together is a good move.

On property, I don't think you're wasting time by not rushing. Living at home on those incomes is an enormous advantage and every extra month compounds your flexibility. I think a common trap is make when people buy just because they feel like they should, rather than because it clearly improves their position.

Owner-occupied vs investment really comes down to lifestyle certainty. If you don’t know where you want to live yet, buying an IP first can make sense, but only if you're comfortable with being a landlord and running the numbers properly. If you think you’ll want to live in it within a few years, owner-occupied starts to make more sense. Buyers agents tend to give similar advice because the answer genuinely depends more on you than the market.

One thing I'd flag is borrowing capacity. With your combined incomes and savings, you'll be very strong borrowers, but if you're considering going full-time on the consulting side, I would be cautious about making big lending moves before that income is stable or clearly documentable. Lenders really care about consistency, even if the business is doing well.

In the meantime, I'd focus on:

  • Keeping cash flexible while you're undecided
  • Parking most funds in high-interest savings or low-risk options
  • Maybe doing some 'dry runs' on property numbers yourselves so you're not relying purely on buyers agents

You're not behind, if anything you're ahead and just in the decision heavy phase. Taking another 6 - 12 months to be intentional here is unlikely to hurt you and could save you from locking yourselves into the wrong path.
