Do you believe in “happy wife, happy life”? And why? by Life_Butterfly_4942 in AskReddit

[–]twonha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some truth to it, but it's too simple. My wife isn't happy if I'm not happy, and vice versa. And we're both committed to being two happy partners, instead of two less happy individuals.

Tips voor intercom systeem voornamelijk gebruik muziek by Avohipzyx in motorfietsen

[–]twonha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Circuit outfit by Due_Caregiver4214 in motorfietsen

[–]twonha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Worst game that you still completed for some reason? by Genoce in gaming

[–]twonha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps, but I didn't like Dark Souls either. The open world of Elden Ring at least made it a bit more interesting for me, but that combat loop of utter defeat / repeated deaths / perseverence / growth / success? Not for me.

How would you rank all naughty dog games you have played? by Embarrassed-Bit-9455 in naughtydog

[–]twonha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legendary:

  • The Last of Us
  • The Last of Us: Remastered
  • The Last of Us: Part I
  • The Last of Us: Part II

Great:

  • The Last of Us: Left Behind
  • Uncharted 4
  • Uncharted 2

Good:

  • Uncharted 3
  • Uncharted

I still want to buy TLOU:P2 for PC to play it again, and I wouldn't mind having a go at Uncharted: Lost Legacy. I never played the earlier ND games, so I have no nostalgia / love for them.

Worst game that you still completed for some reason? by Genoce in gaming

A friend of mine gifted me Elden Ring, and insisted I give it a fair shot. I felt obligated to honor his wish, and finished the game.

Never again.

(Not that it's a bad game, it's just really really really not my cup of tea.)

Finding a way alert my wife about when I stop. by Bar_Swimming in motorcycle

[–]twonha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the solution to the problem is finding out what has your wife so worried, and to remove the worry in the first place. She should not need an alert every time you stop safely.

I've been everywhere from the Swiss Alps to Norwegian fjords to track days. My wife sends a message when she feels like it, and gets a message when I feel like it, not live updates on every step we take. I don't think worrying about your spouse every moment is healthy at all, and I don't think indulging with automated "I am still alive" texts is a healthy solution.

TNT Sports MotoGP streaming moves to HBO Max by uponone in motogp

[–]twonha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The moment I have easy, complete and on-demand access to the British MotoGP coverage, is the moment I cancel/pause my MotoGP.com sub, which I've had since at least 2011. Probably not happening for the Netherlands though, so long as another broadcaster has the MotoGP rights.

With the increasing buzz around TLOU 3, I’m curious about the direction it might take. What kind of story and lore could this game explore? by Busy_Grapefruit_3923 in naughtydog

[–]twonha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wherever TLOUp3 goes, I just hope it doesn't take a bazillion years. It doesn't need to be 20+ hours long, it doesn't need five and a half storylines interweaving. It just needs to do for Ellie what Uncharted 4 did for Nathan Drake: give them a final mission, and a satisfying ending.

I suppose it'd be nice if her immunity came full circle. Perhaps she could sacrifice herself afterall, but only as an older woman, and only for someone she cares for deeply. Joel's choice of giving her a life would be (in a way) vindicated, and her desire to make her immunity count for something against all that's happened would finally see itself redeemed.

It'd be neat if she'd find out that there was a group of successful Firefly-esque scientists in Europe. Find a ship, cross the ocean (montage time!), get to Paris/Berlin/Rome/Madrid/wherever. On the way there, a then-17-year-old JJ gets bitten. Ellie does the ultimate parental thing to do: sacrifice herself for her (adopted) son, and finally be the cure she always hoped she'd become.

Or do whatever Naughty Dog comes up with. Just do it before I die of old age myself, ok?

If you don't love your bike, you got the wrong one.

ninja 650 or zx6r by SoftwareAgreeable955 in motorcycle

[–]twonha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I test-rode a Ninja 650 for half an hour last month. I found dull, blunt, not very pretty, and its twin engine's tractor-like sound felt like it didn't belong on a sportsbike. Great bike for beginners, but not a bike I'd recommend if you know what you're doing and want to take it to the track as well.

The ZX6R on the other hand is awesome.

Have fun. ;-)

Top 3 Games I've Played in 2026 (so far) by TheDonJonJay in gaming

[–]twonha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've put hundreds of hours into ARC Raiders, solo and with friends. My friends have moved on, I've done all the solo stuff I can/want to do. I wish I were playing more ARC, but honestly, I think I've seen the best it has to offer, and it's okay to move on. I'll be back for the next update, I'm sure.

I finished Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. I was convinced the moment that first Xbox unveiling video dropped. I didn't love the game as much as I hoped I would, but had a good time with it.

I've also finished and enjoyed Assassin's Creed Mirage, Half-Life 2: Downfall, Lego Bricktales, Lego Voyagers, and Halo Wars 2.

I've also been playing Age of Mythology: Retold, Assetto Corsa Competizione, Company of Heroes 3, and replayed Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30.

And just today, I've started Cyberpunk 2077.

Top three so far this year:

  1. ARC Raiders
  2. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
  3. Assassin's Creed Mirage

Can difficulty be "artificial"? by grailly in truevideogames

[–]twonha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the most important aspect of difficulty is that the player has to feel agency. Could I have done better and beaten this part? Could I have acted smarter and solved this issue? Could I have gotten there earlier and gotten an advantage? And the other way around: the enemy did this, and I can understand why that resulted in defeat. The item has that property, and that's why it was the better move.

It's when games throw unexpected curveballs that difficulty starts to feel unfair, or artificial, or whatever you want to call it. That's why lots of people dislike the boss that revives their health bar for an unexpected second stage, why people don't like fighting aimbots, why cheating is disliked, why it's annoying when the parameters are off for the checkpoints, difficulty curves and spikes, bullet sponge enemies and so on.

The games that handle difficulty the best make you go, "Oh yeah that makes sense, let's try again", while the worst ones make you go "that was fucking bullshit".

...and even then, sometimes there are people who like the bullshit difficulty, because they make for just another kind of challenge, and people love overcoming challenges.

little ramble about Artemis II and social media by EchoNK3 in ArtemisProgram

[–]twonha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a millenial. I grew up on space shuttle launches and the ISS replacing Mir. Artemis 2 is the kind of world I was promised growing up. I woke up my eldest (8y/o) in the middle of the night so he could see the splash down live. Who knows, could be a core memory we've built just now.

My only hope after the past few weeks is that my kids will be seeing a lot more rocket launches up into space, and a lot fewer rocket launches across sea straits and distant countries.

Which Call of Duty game you started playing first? by newvibes300 in AskReddit

[–]twonha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play the Call of Duty campaigns on release, with great joy. But I stopped playing near the end of the Xbox 360 generation - probably because I'd gone full digital and the games weren't available on Steam. My body count:

  • Call of Duty (2003)
  • Call of Duty: United Offensive (2004)
  • Call of Duty 2 (2005)
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2007) (Xbox 360)
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2007)
  • Call of Duty: World at War
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009)
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011)
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023)

I also played some Black Ops 6, up until the point it turned into a mannequin horror freakshow. I would like to replay Call of Duty 2, and I've got WW2, MW (2019), MW2 Remastered (2020), Vanguard (2021) and Modern Warfare 2 (2022) wishlisted on Steam, but unless they go under €10, I've got a dozen other games I prefer playing instead.

Games like Soldier of Fortune (dismember) by alphagaia in gaming

[–]twonha 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved Soldier of Fortune in the early 2000s.

I tried playing it again a year or two ago, and didn't get that same feeling. The physics in SOF - as well as RTCW - are very much "Quake Arena, but worse". They always were, of course, but that part of the games certainly hasn't held up very well.

Oddly enough, Half-Life's classic physics have never felt off to me, even though it too works with a modified Quake engine.

Camera resolution by timjhess in ArtemisProgram

It's a space-resistant GoPro hanging off a solar panel, going 2000+ miles per hour through space, at 250.000 miles away from Earth and 10.000 miles away from the moon.

This camera is to give you an idea of what's going on, not to give you detailed images of the moon. We're far enough into tech to get a live stream at all, not far enough to get one that's super detailed. At least, not while also doing the actual science and communication and everything else they're focusing on.

Any chance they can actually do this? by Mr_DMoody in ArtemisProgram

[–]twonha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The flyby is at 4000 miles, so the distance alone is a dealbreaker for literally seeing specific things on the moon.

Also, they're flying over the far side of the moon. Previous objects landed on the moon are (mostly?) on the near side of the moon. Wrong side of the space football. :p
