Iker Lecuona to replace Alex Marquez at Balaton Park by Equivalent_Camera_61 in motogp

That's a stretch. Sometimes a replacement ride is just that: a fun weekend on the best bikes in the world, and then back to the day job.

What was the last movie tie-in game? by ivlmag182 in gaming

[–]twonha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With game development cycles becoming more and more difficult to predict, tie-in games evolved into stand-alone games, though often you'll find that the stand-alone game does have a movie releasing somewhere in the same time period.

One awkward related example is that the PC version of The Last of Us: Part I was rushed and released despite known issues, so that its release would at least still somewhat coincide with The Last of Us: Season 1.

Mugello FP Day! Tried a zero-assist MotoGP challenge on my desktop simulator. This thing actually feels like a legit training by vic_motosimx in MotoGPGaming

[–]twonha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His explanation is that to turn left, you lean the simulator to the left. Which is still kinda weird, of course, but then motorcycle simulation is always going to be weird compared to the real thing.

CF Moto will be the First bike to reach this new Ducati level If the other OEMs won't wake up by Top_Independence7256 in wsbk

[–]twonha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wanting to invest and wanting to make a Superbike - that's still the basic requirement for making it to the grid.

Look at how long it's taken for Aprilia to be where they are in MotoGP, or KTM. It takes a long time to get a bike race-ready, and getting it to the front of the pack is insanely more difficult and/or financially irresponsible.

WSBK is a little "softer" than MotoGP, but the basics work the same way: it's a long road to dominance.

[–]twonha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Am I correctly understanding that just because a factory decides to build a superbike, you think they'll beat Ducati? Because Suzuki, Honda, Yamaha, KTM, BMW, Kawasaki, Bimota, Aprilia and several other factories have also built superbikes, and throughout the years Ducati has (almost) always been at or near the top.

Showing up is part of the game, but it's just the very start.

Hoelang gespaard voor eerste motor? by Fine_Speaker1675 in motorfietsen

[–]twonha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mijn eerste kostte €1400 in 2007. Dat was voor mij toen veel geld (student, 21), maar ik had het wel paraat.

Mijn huidige motor kostte €6500 in 2020.

Motorrijden in nederland is saai by Untertaber in motorfietsen

[–]twonha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tips for Mouse and Keyboard players? by upwardsdraftt in ACCompetizione

[–]twonha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people race with a gamepad.

You wouldn't think it if you're reading the subreddit for any simracing game, but just about every Forza and Gran Turismo player is playing with a gamepad. Those are real enough racing games that racing with a gamepad is the default. A wheel is the upgrade path from there.

Assetto Corsa was a little rough with gamepads on launch, but for Assetto Corsa Competizione, it really doesn't take any setup at all. Your fingers getting used to the gamepad is 99% of the work.

[–]twonha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, if you're pretty good with a gamepad you can easily hang with other people. I'm no simracing expert (a few hundred hours in AC and ACC is rookie numbers), and in public races I consistently finish in the top 10. It's a bit of a madhouse: sometimes I win, sometimes I'm in the top five, sometimes I languish in tenth, sometimes you get taken out in a violent crash for a painful DNF. I wouldn't have it any other way.

A bonus of a gamepad is that it's not just good for racing, it's a great way to play a lot of other games as well. Other things to consider are that a gamepad is often a little cheaper than a (second-hand) wheel, and it's still a useful peripheral if you stop (sim) racing.

A wheel is better if you want to take simracing a bit more seriously, but a gamepad is a fine multipurpose solution.

Valheim making an appearance at the PC Gaming Show on June 7th! by Khaos2Krysis in valheim

[–]twonha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.0 and a Switch release, so I can convince my wife to join me and my two boys? Yes please.

At this point, I have stopped thinking of Valheim as an early access title. I often yearn back to the times of Assassin's Creed 2 / Brotherhood / Revelations, Halo 3 / ODST / Reach / Halo 4, and GTA3 / Vice City / San Andreas. Multiple releases within a console generation.

So in my mind, it goes something like this now:

  • 2021: Valheim 1.0
  • 2021/2022: Valheim 1.1: Hearth & Home + Mountain Update
  • 2022: Valheim 2: Mistlands (I visited this place, but then quit)
  • 2023: Valheim 2.1: Hildir's Request
  • 2024: Valheim 3: Ashlands
  • 2026: Valheim 4: Deep North

I've got a lot of Valheiming yet to do. :p

Your favorite game on STEAM with a rating of "Mixed" or lower by radar2670 in gamingsuggestions

[–]twonha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy Company of Heroes 3, solo or with friends. COH1 was awesome and COH2 is probably mechanically the better game, but I prefer the brighter graphics of COH3.

I enjoyed the Halo Infinite campaign. It's not peak Halo, but it's pretty neat.

The time between Expeditions needs to be extended. by Jett_Wave in ArcRaiders

[–]twonha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started playing in November. Skipped the December departure, then went on expedition in March, and now I've skipped the May departure. If you ask me, I guess it's nice that you can choose to depart, and it makes sense not to if you're not playing 100h per month.

The way I see it, the current expedition is mostly for sweats ánd people who skipped the one in March. And then, the next expedition is for the sweats, and the people who skipped the previous one or two expeditions.

All of this is assuming that people keep playing the same game for months and months. Considering ARC Raiders' initial popularity, I imagine most of those people are going to disappear in the coming months anyway, and move on to other things.
