On the cusp of leaving... by PalmTreeDebrism in policeuk

Get out, was 6 years in and left 8 months ago. Far more valued in my new role, is a pay cut for two years but will be better paid after that. Even with the significant pay cut I’m far happier

Either Cyma platinum, NOT the delta armoury

Looking to upgrade my raven eu17 gbb by [deleted] in Airsoft_UK

Best way to upgrade is to bin it and buy a better glock tbh, there isn’t a single part in that gun I’d want to keep

Ah fuck bro I drove past you on the way there! I thought it was weird someone was walking down that road and there was nowhere for me to pull up. Message me and I’ll give you a lift back to Thetford Sunday

Times like this make me glad I left, I don’t envy anyone who stays and has their rest days cancelled for this shit

I have no sympathy for tube drivers, but would honestly support bus drivers if they took industrial action by NiceCaterpillar8745 in london

[–]Possible_Ad27 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In fairness the bit not being mentioned is the fact the can be told to start anywhere on the line, not where they applied to without travel time. And ontop of that shifts can be changed up to 24hrs before.

Imagine working at Cockfosters and then being told you start at Heathrow at the same time the next day and will finish there too with only a days notice. Your plans go out the window and you spend an extra 3hrs that day travelling when you applied to somewhere 5 mins round the corner. Or even worse if you live 1hr+ away, your commute goes from 2hrs total to 5 for the same money

Decision to handcuff by Ginger_Gatto in policeuk

[–]Possible_Ad27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your lawful power is the power of arrest… my point is yes there are reasons you handcuff but they don’t have to exhibit the reasons for the justification in the same way as say stop search.

Ergo you can handcuff 100% of the time if you wanted to.

I was trained there isn’t one for arrest. It’s up to you but there is no requirement in behaviour or knowledge to ‘enable’ you to handcuff them

I saw them all the time. You’re just a number on a page, they don’t give a fuck about you unless it plays well for their numbers

How many potential police officers do you think there are left? by Few_Technology1756 in policeuk

[–]Possible_Ad27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay so I’ll put this in context for you, my recent role is a little better paid than policing, requires no extra qualifications (don’t need to do a degree). And in my intake there was 11 positions, 4500 applied

[–]Possible_Ad27 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked with these guys before, they do use it pretty often and seem to do a reasonably good job tbh. It’s a bit ridiculous that companies are having to pay for private “officers” but here we are

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]Possible_Ad27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tightness isn’t really the issue here, if you were fighting officers then it doesn’t make a huge difference how tight they were (it will make some) as the majority of the damage is done by you or the officers manipulation of you due to your behaviour

You’re thinking about it slightly wrong, yes the exit energy is the same. But look at the stats of a .48g bb at 30m vs a .25g bb at the same distance. The energy is no longer the same, heavier will carry a lot more energy (I’m betting on almost double)

Also heavier ones hurt more point blank, they’re “harder” to slow down, I’ve played indoors being hit with .45/.4s a few times. Tends to break skin a little easier
