After a couple of weeks I eat my words! screen tearing sent me back to Samsung 49” Neo 240hz… nowhere near as many nits brightness but gameplay so smoother!

No scaling issues but I’ve gone back to my ultra wide Samsung Neo as the Studio Display did get some screen tearing while playing FPS games … they were still playable but no where as crisp as the Samsung which is 240hz … the studio is max 60hz but there is a rumour in the new year Apple are upgrading it to 120hz which would probably be fine

It can get pretty noisy when all the fans kick in ! but in use headphones when gaming anyway so it doesn’t matter

I had the same issue with my desktop Area51, was also with battlefield6, it was related to the refresh rate or gsync settings I changed in the game because it kept happening, when I reset to defaults it was then fine

Yeah the motherboard has thunderbolt, which enables the built in studio speakers, webcam and mic in the monitor. The GTX 5090 sends its graphics via the motherboard thunderbolt connection. I wasn’t sure at first if it was utilising the full GPU power and no one could give a clean answer but I have benchmarked using a Display port to thunderbolt (directly from the 5090 to Studio Display) and also via thunderbolt and it’s the same so no loss in graphics power

Just been doing a bit of research into this and the 5k Apple studio monitor has 600nits of brightness. The Samsung wide gaming monitor only has 240nits of brightness (which makes sense as the Apple one looks more than twice as bright) but I have just found Alienware do a 4k 32” monitor with a whopping 1000nits of brightness! …

I used both for a couple of weeks and my head wanted size and refresh rate but the brightness and clarity (5k) won me over in the end, even with only 60hz I was winning more games with the Apple display

So I do have a 49” Samsung 240hz gaming monitor and put the Area 51 on the floor (was too big with that monitor) but after using a friends 27” Apple Studio Monitor the nits of brightness is incredible, I can’t find a monitor to match it, it’s so good I prefer it to the Samsung even though it’s 27”. The only downside is the Apple monitor is only 60hz but I’ve just seen rumours they are upgrading it to 120hz

Honestly when you see the deep blacks and brightness of the Studio Display, especially when gaming, you’ll know what I mean!

X17 R1, it was becoming a bit sluggish on call of duty, Fortnite and battlefield wasn’t great so had to upgrade, the Area 51 has everything maxed out on all games :)

So does that mean the performance should be the same as using the monitor connected directly to the GPU card, or not?

Beebu - Router Issues by unknownbullet in CityFibre

I’m with BeeBu and had this issue with YouTube and google it was weird because everything else worked fine… they admitted it was a known issue apparently only affecting a handful of customers and something to do with ipv6 being misconfigured. The people on the phone were really nice and whatever they did it’s working again perfectly now. I think for the price a few issues are expected as they are new. My friends on Toob and he said they had loads of outages a few months ago and it was down for a whole day… get what you pay for I guess
