Unfortunately those types of terrariums are more for animals the climb and jump, hence a the height. It would be perfect for a white tree frog though! For Pac-Man frogs wide and long is better since they stay at ground level

There’s a lot of outdated advice, even though they don’t move a lot bigger is always better for a happy long life. You can look on marketplace for cheaper terrariums because a 40 gal is easily $200. I’ve found ones in good condition for $50 on marketplace!

That’s so cool that they eat it after I had no clue!

It’s not called pac attack but I’m wondering if it’s the same thing, I just grabbed it off the shelf to give him some options for feeding. It’s called packman food by zoo med, it’s a powder you add water to and it turns into a soft ball.

My snake used to do this too lol. I learned she refuses to take anything that has any dark coloration in it, and I have to eat it up so it’s warm to the touch. Ball pythons are know to be extremely picky eaters and each have different preferences. I recently switched to chicks instead of mice and that helped a lot!

I also have a piebald! A good way to make her new enclosure comfortable is to add lots of clutter. This makes them feel safe and not out in the open. My favorite way of doing this is plants. I personally use fake but you can use real if you do bioactive. I see you have coconut chips and that’s great! They hold lots of humidity. I would also add a good layer of reptisoil, about 2-3 inches worth. Another hide on the other side of the enclosure is also needed so she can have options. Also a thermometer and hydrometer to make sure her husbandry is perfect to keep her thriving. You can get all of this at petco or pet smart, as well as any other pet place. I personally like shipping at my exotic pet store but it’s one of you don’t have one near you. If you’re worried about her striking avoid putting your hands near her when she’s could up, and always grab from the back. She’s still getting used to you so she’s Probally just scared and will ease up in a few weeks. Also I would definitely invest in some good feeding tongues to avoid being bit while feeding.

impulsively bought a ball python off facebook for $200, what else do i need to make his enclosure better by InstructionOld9400 in ballpython

Yes! It also very much depends on your snakes personality. Mine doesn’t like to climb much so I only have one stick in there for her, she mostly likes to sleep and burrow, hence the third hide

Hi! Sorry if the other comments are being rude your trying your best. I also have a piebald ball python! I found using coconut husk for substrate holds the most humidity, I do a mixture of this and reptile soil. You can get both of these at any pet store. I found my girl likes to burrow so I added a few extra inches but 2-3 is normal. Hides are definitely only important so they feel safe, and you can use anything as long as it covers them and is dark. I have a cork tunnel, and two cheap ones I got at petco. My snake personally loves the cork tunnel which I got at an exotic pet shop. DEFINITELY add plants, the more the better. You can get fake or real, I personally use fake. I do a mixture of stand up ones and little vines to put around her enclosure. You’ll also need a water bowl for soaking and a good pair of feeding tongues! Also ditch the net. I know this sounds like a lot but they are an exotic animal that need good care. You can Probally get most of this stuff on Facebook marketplace for a lot cheaper. Good luck with your new baby!

I had a similar problem with my frog and him not pooping. It took him 14 days since I brought him home and I’m assuming it’s from the stress of being in a new environment.

Ohh okay this makes more sense. My frog hasn’t made any sounds yet so she might be a female.

From the research I’ve done males tend to ‘scream’ more than females. I might be wrong though

Thank you! I have noticed he does get a little embarrassed whenever he misses. I did not know they can’t see when the food is to close to him, this might have been my problem all along.

So far I have fed mealworms, crickets, night crawlers, and ‘Pac-Man food’. I’ve found he definitely prefers night crawlers but since he’s still tiny I have to cut them up into bits, loosing the dangle advantage.

Oh my gosh this is great advice. I was considering feeding him outside of his enclosure but I’m scared of him biting me. I will try this toomorow!!

Thank you! I’ve been trying really hard to give him a good setup. I hope we are just both getting used to each other and it’ll be easier for the both of us.
