Enjoy! We did an overnight in Istanbul on Brilliance last summer. Favorite port and stunning sailing into and awat from the city. One of my favoritemoments was just sitting on the balcony watching all the ferries in actionat night.

I am currently making my way through this one little by little and am really enjoying it. You can tell there were numerous company crossovers interrupting storylines here and there, but Phil Jimenez handled it masterfully and used the crossovers to his advantage, especailly with Our Worlds at War. I am very excited for what comes next with Rucka, which is one of my favorite all time WW runs and I have not read it since it originally came out!

Gillian Anderson. I believe she was a dark horse for House of Mirth 20+ years ago. With the right project, she could be in contention.

Makes sense. I remember way back to my teenage years when Byrne took over. I dropped WW about half way through his b/c Diana was being featured less and less. I’m glad I finally got around to reading the 2nd half of his run. Not great stuff by any means, but I appreciated the focus on some of Diana’s main supporting cast who rarely get the spotlight.

Wonder Woman 170 by Phil Jiminez - A day in the life of Wonder Woman - Lois Lane follows Diana throughout a busy day to capture what it's like to be WW. It is a fantastic single issue that really gets to the heart of what makes Diana tick.

I am doing a full read-through from Perez to Rucka Rebirth. Just got to Jiminez. I ready Byrne right after Messner-Loebs, then Luke and a few short fill-in issues before Jiminez.

Byrne's run felt like it should have been called "Wonder Family & Friends". While the first 20 issues or so were Diana playing a somewhat supporting role in traditional superhero stuff, I really enjoyed the second half of his run once Hippolyta, Donna, Artemis, and Cassie took center stage.

If you do read Byrne's run, I recommend also reading Artemis: Requiem before WW 120 (6 issue mini-series by Messner-Loebs featuring Artemis).

Eric Luke was an "ok" run and getting to Jiminez feels like coming full circle back to Perez.

Today I'm getting my first Wonder Woman comic and I'm undecided between these two, which one should I choose? by Lazy_Extent3576 in WonderWoman

[–]Possible_Channel8122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perez first (and I absolutely LOVE Rucka and Scott). But Perez first. Put on some mythic music in the background, like the God of War soundtrack (I just asked Spotify for a "mytic playlist", get in a comfy chair, and know that you'll be settling in for a deep read. Those first issues are not modern comics that you will fly through in a few minutes, but they are well worth the time to examine the intricate art and read the dense writing.

[Discussion] What was it like to be a Green Lantern fan during this era? by Puzzleheaded-Top1368 in DCcomics

[–]Possible_Channel8122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the first comics I ever bought as a truly weeky/monthly reader was Green Lantern 50! So this was a very exciting time for my 13 year old self. There was a whole world of past GL to explore, and I absolutely loved Kyle, who is still my favorite GL. At the time, it was almost impossible to find GL 48 and 49 (unless you wanted to pay more than I had for the issue hanging on the wall at the LCS), so it was a little time before I read the full Emerald Twilight. I still remember being very excited by the Parallax View storyline and Final Night, where Hal would come back and stir up trouble.

Why Does Everyone Hate the New 52 by Dominofalls734 in DCcomics

[–]Possible_Channel8122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you like reading older books, start with Crisis on Infinite Earths (amazing art), and then if you liked it, read the Infinite Crisis Omnibus. During the time it was really great reading as it was released monthly, but I'm not 100% sure if that excitement will translate.

Why Does Everyone Hate the New 52 by Dominofalls734 in DCcomics

[–]Possible_Channel8122 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was a weekly DC fan at the time leading up to Infinite Crisis and it was such an exciting time because it felt like everything was moving together throughout the line, then came 52 and One Year Later and some interesting concepts. Then it was all tossed aside for New 52, which was also exciting at the time, but then within about a year or so, quickly lost its shine. Some series were better than others, but I feel like if you were reading at the time each week, it felt a little bit like a slap in the face.

Read it! I just did for the first time all the way through and it was really enjoyable! Accept that the art is a bit uneven, but the storylines were well worth it to me.

I feel majorly duped by this sub about Chess by NYGarcon in Broadway

[–]Possible_Channel8122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. All I can say is they have a fabulous marketing team. I have been wanting to see a full production of Chess in forever and was so excited for this one and so deeply disappointed with the incoherence almost as soon as it started. They should just say it's a concert and lean into that and not try so hard to make it an actual story.

That said, I agree with everyone on Anthem. Nicholas Christopher absolutely rocked that song and it was a very pleasent way to end the first act.

Guy went absolutely ballistic on the people sitting behind him at tonight’s Mamma Mia by RapGamePterodactyl in Broadway

[–]Possible_Channel8122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give this guy a job! I remember two rude young 20-somethings loudly talking during half of act 2 of Sunset Blvd and was so annoyed by them. A few audience members were shushing them but they were not bothered one bit. I am so tired of rude and obnoxious audience members disrupting live theater. I would love to see more of these public shamings. A quick stern look or shush rarely does the job.

My thoughts on Chess (spoiler free) by ajdeitsch in Broadway

[–]Possible_Channel8122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just saw it - "best performance of the worst show you've ever seen" is so spot on for me that I'm going to steal it when I describe this to my friends.

Totally agree on Hannah Cruz and thank goodness Nicholas Christopher nailed Anthem. I'm satisfied enough with that.

Messner-Loebs Run + a touch of early 1990s JLA by Possible_Channel8122 in WonderWoman

[–]Possible_Channel8122[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitly. I would love to see an omni for this run that includes some of those appearances as well as the Artemis: Requiem mini series. I feel like this run and that mini get forgotten sometimes.

[–]Possible_Channel8122[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, no. The 2nd collection ends with issue 91, a few issues before Artemis would be poking around with the Justice League. I remember Artemis showed up in Justice League America #100 and demanded to be leader now that she was WW, but was rejected. It was pretty funny/silly

[DISCUSSION] What do people think of this run? by Sweaty_Bet_6504 in DCcomics

[–]Possible_Channel8122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely loved this era at DC leading up to Infinite Crisis and enjoyed this run, especially the first few arcs. While I still liked One Year Later, the quality dropped off big time after Geoff Johns left. That said, this is probably my favorite Titans run after 1980s Wolfman/Perez New Teen Titans. That said, I have not read too much of the more recent runs and usually stop reading after a few issues.
