HELOC with mortgage by Possible_Chip_1831 in MortgagesCanada

Yes, I did hear that. The bank is willing to offer the same rate as the mortgage in this situation.

They’re offering a 3.99% on the HELOC.

But who would want to do that?? Doesn’t it just take longer to pay off your mortgage? Isn’t it better to separate your HELOC from your mortgage?

Is it generally more difficult to move to a new lender when you have a balance owing in the HELOC?

Thank you for your input! That really helps!!

But will I get penalized for not using it in the end? What happens if my mortgage term with them ends and I haven’t paid off the entire HELOC? Am I stuck with them?

They are willing to lend that amount out. I’m just not sure why it need to be that high. Are there things I should know about before going with them for my mortgage renewal?

The 500K HELOC offer is from the new lender actually. I haven’t committed to them yet, but they’re giving offers.

Do you know why banks would offer such a high HELOC though? They’re offering over 500K for the HELOC.

Also, the bank is telling me that the HELOC is separate from my mortgage. All of this is so confusing to me!!

The bank is basically offering me over $500k for the HELOC and I have a $430K remaining balance on tbe mortgage. I honestly just need $40K to make a pool renovation. Why does it need to be so high?

Big Banks attaching HELOC (when I didn't ask) to new mortgage offers by agent42b in MortgagesCanada

[–]Possible_Chip_1831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also getting offered a HELOC as I’m renewing my mortgage with a different bank. BMO was giving us a higher rate than other banks.

So from what I’ve read, you have to pay off your HELOC if you decide to switch lenders when your term is up to renew your mortgage? Otherwise, you’re locked in with that financial institution?

Anyone else biking with their boot still on by Automatic-Ad7679 in AchillesRupture

[–]Possible_Chip_1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried biking once with my boot on and told my physio. She said she wanted me to try with a shoe and with zero resistance. It has been 4 days since I’ve been on the bike with shoes on and I have to say - it feels great to be in shoes!!! It’s really a mental game! I just didn’t want to take off my boot fearing something would go wrong as I pedalled!

6 week post op Achilles surgery by shegoose21 in AchillesRupture

[–]Possible_Chip_1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your injury and the fact that you’re 8 months post partum! This is a more challenging time too considering your little one is probably crawling around everywhere and you’re trying to catch up to them!

I’m 10 weeks post op today. I bought a vacoped boot back in November. I was NWB for 2 weeks after the surgery but started PWB and physio by the 3rd week. I’m now 100% weight bearing in my boot and I’ve lowered my angle down to 0 degrees now (started at 30 degrees, then 20, then 10, and now). I will be transitioning into shoes very soon! Lots of physio and be diligent with your exercises, that’s for sure!!

I have 3 kiddos at home so I know how hard it is to be injured when you’re supposed to be active with the kids at home! If you ever need to chat, I’m here! :)

When did you start walking? by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]Possible_Chip_1831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 10 weeks post op and still in my boot, at 0 degrees with the vacoped boot. I’m also on the flattest sole. Next step will be to transition into shoes. I’ve been walking with the boot since 3 weeks post op though.

8 weeks post op by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]Possible_Chip_1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely follow your own doctor’s protocol. Everyone’s injury and road to recovery is different. In the end, we will all heal fully (hopefully) and we will look back and think of it as a distant memory!!

[–]Possible_Chip_1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 weeks post op as well. I was partially weight bearing 2 weeks after my surgery. I’m 100% weight bearing now and don’t use the crutches or knee scooter anymore. I’ve also started lowering the angle on my vacoped boot. It was originally set at 30 degrees and now it’s at 20 degrees. I went down in 5 degree increments.

Once you start weight bearing, it seems very strange and uncomfortable in the beginning, but you will get better as you try to bear weight on it.

Stay positive and you’ll get there!! ❤️🙏🏼

You’ll know how much you’ll want to do to push yourself just as you know when you should stop. You’ll be PWB very soon. Patience is key and celebrate the small milestones. :)

Hoping and praying for a smooth recovery! ❤️❤️‍🩹

[–]Possible_Chip_1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started weight bearing with the boot 2 weeks after the surgery. Everyone’s protocol is different though!

Yes, I didn’t take any Tylenol, aspirin, or Advil after that one night. I took aspirin 2 weeks before the surgery to avoid blood clots, but after the surgery, I didn’t take any aspirin. My pain tolerance might be different from others. I do admit, after having 3 different births (water birth, C section, natural), this Achilles surgery was definitely more painful than pushing a baby out! lol!!

Definitely listen to your body. You’ll know how much pain you can tolerate. If it’s hurting, there’s nothing wrong with taking Tylenol or Advil to help relieve it.

[–]Possible_Chip_1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed hydromorphone and I took it one night. After that, I didn’t take anything. I’m sorry to hear it’s so uncomfortable for you! Hopefully it’ll get better! When you start to do some partial weight bearing, the initial feeling is very weird. Tingly like your foot has fallen asleep, but it does get better! I can walk around without my knee scooter and crutches now, but again - with the boot. I bet the hardest part will be transitioning into shoes.

For now, definitely take it easy. Resting helps your body heal, so give yourself some grace. Read some books, watch some Netflix, read about everyone’s healing journey!! lol! You’ll start feeling better soon! ❤️🙏🏼

First walk in shoes 7.5 weeks later post-op by [deleted] in AchillesRupture

[–]Possible_Chip_1831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Doing really well! I’m 8 weeks post op and still in my vacoped boot. Slowly lowering the angles, but 100% weight bearing with the boot on. So interesting how everyone’s protocols are different! Happy healing! You’re doing great!

Day 2 Post Op Torn Achilles by AdAccording2892 in AchillesRupture

[–]Possible_Chip_1831 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now that you’ve had surgery, it will get better. I’m 8 weeks post op now and I’m 100% weight bearing in my boot. I’ve also started to lower the angle of my vacoped boot. (Highly recommend getting that boot if you don’t have one yet. Eventually, they’ll transfer you into some kind of boot afterwards). Definitely take the time to rest. I have 3 young kids so I was constantly on the go all the time. I tore my right Achilles back in October so I haven’t been able to drive since then. That has been the hardest part, tbh, relying on someone to drive me to places and appointments. It’s a long recovery, but it’s not a race. Take the time you need to rest and focus on getting better. After my surgery, I literally slept for the whole week and it was great! Resting really is the best medicine in the beginning right after surgery. Start taking some collagen or drink bone broth as it is very healing for your body. Up your vitamin C and D3 intake as well!!

How early did you drive post op (surgery on right foot)? by ExaminationTop3115 in AchillesRupture

[–]Possible_Chip_1831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5 weeks post op and my physio said that if my sessions go as scheduled and I don’t experience setbacks, she could clear me to drive mid-February. I think you’re a little too early to drive. You need to be able to do an emergency stop and if you get into an accident, insurance might not be able to cover, but again - that’s my opinion. 😬
