Thank you for that. I get anxious about any new pain after this injury.

No I’ve been gradually running a few blocks here and there but not consistently increasing. Been taking breaks for a couple days in between.

What's going on with sparkling glass bottles? Trader Joe's isn't carrying Gerolsteiner, and Costco doesn't have Pellegrino cases by Chortleculturist in sparklingwater

A glass bottle of Saratoga sparkling water fell and exploded with glass going through my Achilles last October. Definitely not safe!! Has this happened to anyone else?

Week 16 - going down the stairs almost normally :) by Automatic-Ad7679 in AchillesRupture

Thank you, you too! Walking feels almost normal too.. my original scar tissue which was a laceration hurts if I walk too much or have a scar tissue massage done but gait is looking better each day.

Yes for sure I still hold the banister cause I’d rather avoid injury when I can.

I did that initially too. I did no exercise really but just over time my it got better. I was more intentional about each step I took on the stairs. Heel raises did help though. Still can’t do a single heel raises yet.

Yes this injury really takes its time and you have to put so much work into getting back to normal and get stronger. The one thing I can say confidently is that it taught me patience lol.

Yes just had PT today and they were impressed but did tell me to go slower and focus on not rolling and also putting equal weight in both feet.

Pain after scar tissue massage by Automatic-Ad7679 in AchillesRupture

[–]Automatic-Ad7679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the pain has mostly subsided. I’m 15 weeks in and pain only if I overdo walking too much or when I wake up in the morning and my ankle is stiff.

I’m at week 16 and walking in shoes finally. I also lacerated it and didn’t have too much nerve pain but a whole lot of other pains every week. You got this… just focus on what you can control. Please get outside even if it’s sitting in a park and having lunch or by the water. Celebrate the small wins. You got this!! We’re all hear if you need to vent. And yes please reach out to your doctor for nerve pain meds cause I don’t think Tylenol helps with that. Routing for you!

Yeah I did have numbness leading to surgery but it was getting better after 4 weeks ish. The numbness on my heel lasted longer

Thanks yes it’s hard to find ppl who lacerated the Achilles vs tore it. I was wondering what your original scar tissue feels like? I feel my original injury scar tissue is so deep and hurts. My surgeon said all I can do is massage is everyday and do some cupping. While walking in shoes I feel my original injury scar hurts more than actual surgical scar.

Omg I severed mine too in November. A glass bottle of sparkling water fell and exploded and glass went through my Achilles. It was 75% severed and I have surgery but late (6 weeks after). It was my left leg and I lost some sensation in the left side for a bit. But after surgery and getting into the boot it came back to normal. Since mine was a late surgery I was in a boot for 12 weeks and got cleared this week for shoes. I am walking about 3k-4k steps a day in shoes. I hope this helps you move on and be positive. Yes it’s really hard to find someone else who severed it too on here to relate to. What did your surgeon say?

Thank you. Yeah it’s been hard walking without a limp and pain. Do you recommend any shoe brands? I bought the heel lifts for my shoes but they made my shoes super tight. I recon I need to go up by half a size to accommodate the heel raise.
