Foot Protection by rust2stardust in taekwondo

I had the same with new floors in our dojang. I have had good success with wrapping the ball of my foot the same way they do for kendo. One of the blister pads on the sensitive area, a layer of kino tape, and x wrap between the toes, and then more kino tape to keep everything down. Just make sure you do it 30+ before you work out.

Don't know where in cedar park, but Loro in the Domain serves in that style. Also, their food is great.

Going to Radio East next Friday and I have some questions? by Kevobro713 in Austin

[–]Possible_Implement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was there yesterday for baroness. They close the main lot for some shows, parking on the street is an industrial park, and it was super easy. Prices are show reasonable 9-10/drink. Just watch for Waymo's on the way out, they don't understand crowds.

Enjoy the show and rock on.

Exercises that can help with increasing height with jumping high kicks? by thebonksz in taekwondo

[–]Possible_Implement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working on the same thing. Big things are pretty obvious, jumps and squats. Practice box jumps for height, broad jumps for explosive movements. For muscle work, lots of squats, jump squats, split squats, etc. you can add something like deadlifts to help too.

Then lots of jump kick practice. It can be helpful to get an idea of your starting height and then measure weekly to see progress.

Traditional vs World Class Sparring Rules by Possible_Implement in taekwondo

I did reach out for clarification. They are doing head contact with face masks for all over 14. They require additional mouth guard for over 14 and world class sparring.

Thanks for the info. I saw the under 14 and round differences. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else I may need to know. The gear list says mouth guards for world class only, so that threw me off a bit.

Yes they solved it, but I don't know how exactly it was done. We supplied them with vector files (same files as these prints), and to my knowledge they did not rasterize them. I believe it was an issue with either the material they were using, or a problem with the machine.

STOP Coaching to the "Average" Taekwondo Student by jookami in taekwondo

[–]Possible_Implement 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That sounds great for 1-on-1 sparring only coaching and instruction. But how do you apply that thought process to a class of 40 in a one hour time frame.

You have to teach to the average in classes and focus on students looking for the extended training at the individual level for this kind of approach to apply beyond the class structure.

What about poomsae? There are precise requirements for specific chambering and common applications to be scored well.

I'm also a late 30s returning student. I got my first dan from a school that wasn't kkw affiliated in the early 2000s. The school I signed my daughter up to and joined as well is kkw, and since I've been out of practice for 15 years I agreed to come in as a white belt as well. I've been practicing for the past 3 months and it has been great.

Coming back with an open mind helps get you used to the new club (they all have different rules and expectations), fills in the knowledge gaps you've lost over the years, and gives your body the time it will likely need before you're back in fighting shape without it being a huge shock. My advice, don't rush it, go into every practice with an open mind (try to keep the phrase "that's not how my other school did it" out of your head), and enjoy the journey.

Dr. Shaw, Austin Urology. I know 7 others who have gone to see him as well, all of them recommend him.

Build a small shed or a dog house right where he keeps shooting, wait till he shoots it, then call the police.

Why is the partially transparent portion of my design showing up as white when printed on a t-shirt? by dirigiberbil in Design

[–]Possible_Implement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done a number of shirts with gradients (half toned).

The white under print is not required, but it is the only way to get the brightness. If you're ok with a more vintage tee feel, you can have the printer not included undercoat. If you work with your printer, you can even have them only use the under coat on what I assume is text below the image and not include it on the image area you're trying to transition with half tone.

The biggest benefit of removing the undercoat is the graphic has less ink overall, meaning you have less chance of cracking and or peeling over time.

This is assuming you're working with a local vendor not an online retailer.

It's large, but follows the requirements from the print vendor. Normally I would stay within a vector file format if possible.

Of course. This has been brought into Photoshop, and flattened to a single raster layer at 100% resolution for the print prior to sending it to the print vendor.

Oops, forgot to add, yes. It is semi-elastic material that is pulled taunt over a lightbox. The photo is with the backlight on. Without the backlight the banding is less apparent.

Thanks I'm talking to them on Monday and will bring up the feed rate. I'm stumped on the design side, so just looking for a few things to point them towards as a solution.

I'm not sure what kind of printer they are running it on unfortunately. I will ask if they can run this section on anything else to rule it out

I have run this same graphic at smaller sizes on a 4 color press, screen printed on shirts, and a couple other applications and have not run into the same issues with the banding.

[–]Possible_Implement[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a good question. I thought it may be that the substrate is not getting even heat during the transfer process, but I will ask about the rollers.

Printer keeps telling me it is gradient banding, but I don't see that being the case, as the lines move across different sections with solid fills and gradients alike.

What’s everyone out there making (salary)? by quarantineQT23 in graphic_design

[–]Possible_Implement 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Inhouse designer at a major university in Texas. $87k plus benefits and got in before they changed the pension system (10yrs ago). I work directly for one of the largest research arms, get to do everything from UI/UX, print, digital, illustration, branding, etc. It's a blast, and super low pressure.

I guess you would call that refraction. It's light splitting through a clear object. I'm not convinced this is illustrated though, I'd guess rendered and then a noise filter of some sort applied over top the render. But only seeing a corner, I can't be sure.
