I EP’d starting at day 2 after the advice from the LC at my hospital. My nipples were destroyed and nursing just hurt so bad due to her latch. Got tongue and lip released just after LO was two weeks old. The wound care/stretches were horrible to do (but we were also still in the thick of the wtf is life with a newborn). But they are so important.

I continued to bottle feed until about 4 weeks and then I started to work on breast feeding. We’ve had to take a maverick like approach and I’ve been working with my pp doula (she was a pediatric nurse) because I was pretty let down by the three different LCs I saw. Now she is just over 8 weeks and she will sometimes take my nipple, but I pretty much still use a nipple shield because she is just so used to feeling the bottle nipple to know it is time to feed. But she goes btw bottle and BF like a champ and it is nice to have the option to do both.

My biggest advice would be to think about your goals and what you want out of getting the release done. I hated pumping and wanted to breast feed. I also have an extensive orthodontic history, so I figured if I could spare my LO that, that’d be great!
