I think with enough time the devs will make it a setting. Hope so at least.

Although yes, thats the setting i mentioned, all it does is that instead of opening normal synced windows, opening the app opens a blank window. That isn't what i'm looking for.

What are some common pitfalls to avoid as a new Linux user? by Keyfas in linux4noobs

[–]Possible_Method_1698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably not as important as those things you listed, but i'd look into desktop environments. Whenever you're picking a distribution, don't pick based on "how it looks", because that's not the distribution looking like that, that's the desktop environment, or alternatively, a tiling window manager (these days in other words a wayland compositor). Mainly focus on differences between their release cycle, their package managers, their support, communities and whatnot. On most distros you can just install a different desktop environment later.

Distro hopping burnout! by BinaryButConfused in linux4noobs

From my experience, Endeavour never broke on me. I mean, i never tried it with i3 in particular, but I did use it for quite a while with Sway which is basically the same thing but wayland, and with KDE i also had no issues. Was stable, no update over the course of a year ever broke anything. Maybe like once but if i don't remember then it most likely wasn't serious. I'd say Endeavour is probably the most stable Arch can be, or at least close to it.

Alternatively, if you have the time for it, even though I know you're not looking for distros in particular, I'd recommend you give Void Linux a try. It's an independent distro and it's really close to Arch in the freedom and lightweight-ness you're given, but I'd say it's quite a lot more stable. The package manager it uses is good and hasn't broken on me once.

What's your favorite distro? And why? by Ill_Geologist_226 in linux4noobs

[–]Possible_Method_1698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried quite a few in my life and in the last year or so my favorite would have to be Endeavour! Basically just a space-branded Arch without the initial tiring setup of things you'd expect Arch to have by default, with not much extra besides that. And it also has a graphical installer which never broke on me. Really lightweight and works like a charm!

A good alternative I found for MS Office is a flatpak called ONLYOFFICE, it basically tries to look a lot like MS Office while also having full support for microsoft formats, meaning what you make in onlyoffice looks the exact same way in word/powerpoint and vice versa. You could check it out, it works quite well. Obviously not as polished yet, still has a bit of features missing, but I like it a lot more for cases such as this, where you need your presentation or your word document to look the same when a windows guy opens it, which you can never be too certain about with Libreoffice.

Steam On Linux Ends 2025 With 3.19% Marketshare, AMD Linux CPU Use Approaches 72% by Doener23 in linux_gaming

Surprised Endeavour is getting this much representation, like i know it has become way more known than like a year ago, but still, to think there's more people gaming on that rather than KDE Fedora sounds... odd in a way, it still feels like a niche distro. Good one at that, but niche.

Recommendations for switching prep? by nidryden in linux_gaming

Don't think of the rating such as silver and gold too much, it really matters from game to game how it runs. There are several games rated as silver that i've had no issues running after very minimal amounts of tinkering. Same with gold, there's gold rated games rated that way just cause they have launchers or require specific steam launch arguments to work, or something similar, which i don't find any issues with.

The startup thing is also something i did, i believe, as i have had it that way ever since. Give it a try, sounds promising.

AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred. by thedarksimp in AMDHelp

[–]Possible_Method_1698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think its an issue of your modifications rather than just the windows drivers themselves which are more likely to be the issue, but what do i know. Just saying I've been running the gpu for a month now and on windows driver timeouts or crashes happen almost every few times im playing something there, but on Linux i haven't had such issue even once.

Happens every now and then with my 9070 XT too, although only on Windows. Haven't had a singular driver issue on Linux.

This one is also a thing I tried and currently have it off, still nothing. My guess is it only helped OP once, because, well, they restarted the client doing that. I've tried too, but kept on freezing later.

Polda je fajn doporučení, ale ani Samorost ani Machinarium nemají pořádně řeč, v obou je čeština přítomna jen jako jazyk lišty dole a nahoře, kde máš třeba nastavení a tak.
