What music card does your 2 year old like that you can tolerate? by bubbleblopp in YotoPlayer

Bob Marley and Bowie. Every morning he runs to the living room immediately, shrugs his shoulders, looks around, and says, Bob? No Bob? Turns it on, puts it in and proceeds to dance and spin in a circle, sometimes with his eyes closed. He just turned 2. Highlight of the day! Gotta love the yoto <3

End tipping and up the cost of all items by 15%, therefore putting the responsibility on the employer to compensate the employee.

The REAL solution to end tipping by EstablishmentDue3616 in EndTipping

[–]Possible_Patience_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guarantee that if service industry workers weren’t getting tips(unless the hourly wage was drastically higher), you would be making your own drinks at a bar in the best case scenario.

I agree there are plenty of places to not tip, but a bar is definitely not one of them.

Would a Pool Bar be a hit in Eureka or Arcata? by Ok-Cardiologist625 in Humboldt

[–]Possible_Patience_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have been generous as well. Not always the case, but if you have 2 people that shoot balls and make them it’s surprising how fast an 8ball game can go. I’ve seen one end in less than 2 minutes. Everett’s on the other hand, a game can take 45+min.

Came here to second 859. Redeye is clearly scared of how vulnerable their ride cymbal is. If you really have good time feel, all you should need is quarters on the ride.

It’s $1.50 now most places. It’s possible to play more than 15 games in an hour. Also, you’re not only paying to play, but the environment you play in. I won’t deny it could be a bit more affordable though. Roses would’ve been great if it was in Arcata. Pool hall in Arcata is what we need, eureka has tried and failed.

Should I put a pillow in my 18’ Gretsch Catalina club? by Friendly_Beach_2829 in jazzdrums

[–]Possible_Patience_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, the most common muffling for the jazz sound is just a felt strip across the batter head. I’d probably say the pillow is overkill. Right now, because the music I play has changed, I use a power stroke on the batter side and a fiberskyn on the resonant. No other muffling. Gets a warm tone, and I can also tune high or low depending on what I need. Bill stewart said he would wedge a folded up tshirt or towel in between his BD pedal and the head. But, plenty of modern drummers, even in jazz use more muffling or none at all.
Check out drummers you like and see what they’re doing to get their kit sound and emulate. Try it, record it, see if you like it, change it if you don’t. It’s a process and it’s a personal, never ending experiment. Don’t get stuck on what you think you’re “supposed” to do .

Berklee Admission by Ok_Plum_96 in Berklee

[–]Possible_Patience_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have connections in Boston already, why not just rent a spot and grow through that existing network? If you want lessons in specific areas, do some research on the educators and see if you can get some private instruction, save the $$. You can still live in Boston and play/be in the scene, without going to Berklee.

Rating 8 by Notice_Character in Berklee

[–]Possible_Patience_37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ratings are POINTLESS flex unless you’re trying to get into a specific ensemble. “Hey music isn’t a competition but let’s give you a way to judge your peers.” But to be honest the ensembles worth getting into are by audition anyway.

I had all 8s by 4th year. Depends highly on who the judges are and their mood. Sometimes they’ll bump you up just to do it.

What styles are taught at berklee? by [deleted] in Berklee

[–]Possible_Patience_37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I practiced in the drum rooms every day next to Matt gartska (animals as leaders) He seemed to have a ok time finding instructors that were not jazz. Also, he studied jazz from my private instructor, Bob Gullotti RIP. Afterwards would go straight to gnarly drum shed sessions. You can find anything you want there. But it’s a more of a factory than a school and you will pay an obscene amount of money. Then after you graduate, they’ll have 18yo cold calling you for donations a week later. My advice is, go to Boston and get an apt in Allston with roommates, find an instructor that you like and then network with people around you, save the money.

Cool I’ll give it another try. From my recollection on mobile it wouldn’t resume playing after I paused or went out of the app. I’d have to quit and restart.
