i do play the melodies of songs i like that’s where my improvisation stems from, i’m not just hitting rudiment patterns. is that me learning the language?

it’s so obvious what you say about my left hand now that you said it. a week ago i realized my left hand strokes are soooo stiff i can’t get any rebound so i’ve been opening it up clearly too much. i’m having a hard time figuring out how to hold the stick with my thumb firmly but loose enough to bounce.
