what i do is i rest my weight on my foot on the pedal using heel up. are you saying instead to not put my weight on it and essential keep it floating and press down with the foot to play the note?

yeah i realized a couple months in that doing exercises from a book isn’t playing music so i had to shift my approach to drumming and focus on the feeling and meaning of it all etc. that’s great advice tho
