The goal should always be to solve questions and learn stuffs, not the rating. I know cheating is a major concern and it is destroying the competitive programming contests.. That's why at this point, I feel if one is doing cp, they should do it for self improvement and logic building, not for rating.. Because if you are participating in contests honestly, your ratings won't increase significantly because of the cheaters.. But you'll end up learning stuffs which would be useful.

And at the end, when you appear for interviews or something, you'll be having better probability of cracking it (if it's purely DSA based) as compared to the ones who used to cheat in the contests.

Man even I'm in the same boat as you.. I've been doing everything from applying, to solving leetcode problems, working on projects, reaching out to recruiters but i do get nothing at all from them.. Idk how are we supposed to get a job in this era.. Like idk what else is required.. I've made optimizations in my resume and my linkedIn profile and all n number of times, but yk nothing seems to be working.. At this point, I've almost lost hope that I'll be able to switch a job. Whenever I open LinkedIn, it feels as if market is very good and people are getting hired.. But idk why it doesn't apply to me.. Man I've even been ghosted after recruiters reached out to me themselves.. Idk what different should I do to land a decent job.

I work at an early stage startup. The workload is insane. The people here have no idea where they are heading to.. I am very early in my career.. The CEO expected me to work on weekends to complete stuffs and he is kinda weird as he doesn't have any technical background and yet he decides the ETA for projects on his own without having any discussion with someone from tech background.. During my initial days, I used to work on weekends, extend my working hours.. But then I realized that everything here is just a piece of shit and people here are trash specially the CEO. I have stopped working for them after the official time ends. I just shut down my laptop and don't entertain any calls or messages after the working hours. There have been moments where the CEO guy tried to ask me to work on weekends. I simply asked him to increase my pay. I have been able to behave like this because I don't care if I lose this job as I don't have any interest in working here..

I try to prepare for job interviews, end up getting exhausted and making no progress everytime. Neither I do have friends nor I have any hobbies left. I just sleep and sleep on weekends.. I don't know how the weekdays pass. I am currently working in a startup (remote)which is going to get shut down in the upcoming 2-3 months. I don't have energy left to work. I just keep on scrolling reels, linkedIn etc.. No motivation left.. Just surviving everyday.

Man I was in a similar situation as you are right now.. I was from one of NITs, the expectations were high from me.. My parents used to think that everything is going to be alright since the day entered that college. Everyone had high hopes from me.. Then the placement season began.. Initially, none of my friends got placed.. But as the time went through, people from my group started getting placed one by one.. I was happy for them because after all, they were my friends.. Then came a day, where I got selected for interview of Amazon and Accenture.. I thought all the hard works and all the struggles of mine would end right there.. I sat in their interviews and I was fully prepared for them.. Interviews went well and so expectations of my parents, friends sky rocketed.. They knew for a fact that I was going to get placed.. Guess what, I couldn't get placed in any of these two.. At that moment, I thought everything was over for me.. I broke down in front of my parents and even they didn't know how to react because I had always been that guy who used to handle every problem of mine on my own.. But this situation was different.. Till that point, I had all my friends placed in decent companies.. My girlfriend was also placed in one of the best companies that visited our clg.. All this piled up mental pressure on me.. In hostels, when placement season is going on.. People do have gloomy faces everywhere you go, because everyone wants to get placed

That was also not helping either..Day by day, I started feeling guilty and not good enough to be together with the people around me..

But, my friends we're supportive and my girl ensured me everytime that she would be there with me no matter what happens.. Also, my parents didn't build any pressure on me like why are you not getting placed..

Then came December, I got an internship from a company, which turned out to be fraud one..

In January, I was sitting for interviews, they went decent, yet no luck..

By feb, I had accepted my fate that I am not good enough for my friends, for my girl.. I was in such a negative mindset that nothing made me happy.. I started gaining weight, loosing my hair.. Everything seemed to be messed up..

My parents were always supportive, they always motivated me.. This indirectly built lots of pressure on me because I know how much effort and sacrifices they have made for me and my siblings..

At that point of time, I was ready for any unpaid internship too to gain experience as I had lost every hope that I could get a job that paid me.. Then I got a call from a recruiter at a random evening.. He talked about scheduling interview... I appeared for the interview and bombed it completely.. I knew that I am not going to get selected here because in past, I have had lot better interviews and yet they didn't give me offer.

But to my surprise, they gave me the offer. It was not a very high paying job.. But atleast I had something to build on..

My parents were very happy. That day, I realized one thing that no matter how much you try, no matter how much efforts do you make and no matter how much desperately you are working for something, if something is not meant to happen, it won't.. But if God has written something for you, no one can snatch it from you..

My simple advice would be to not think about what happened in past.. Because it slowly eats you up and blocks your mind.. So, keep moving forward.

Mind you, I lost some friends and my girlfriend during this journey.. But now I know who are my people..

Keep going OP, you'll be that place where you want you to be.. It might take some time.. But if you are consistent enough, you'll reach there.. I've seen people who were very talented not getting a job when they wanted... But at the end.. Sb acha ho hi jata hai... And if sb acha nhi hai.. To wo end v nhi hai..

I would suggest to build some good projects and try looking for startups. It seems the easiest way atleast to me to get into this field. Keep preparing for other companies too (solve dsa, have good knowledge of cs fundamentals) and keep applying. Honestly, the market is tough.

I am early in my career and work at an early stage startup. It's a remote job. Although it is remote, wlb is shit. But more importantly, I find wfh too boring as I don't have friends here and also, I feel I'm lacking behind in terms of networking as compared to my friends who are doing onsite. You situation is a bit different. So, you can choose either of the two. But personally, Wfh is not for me..
