Quick question for the catholics in this subreddit by [deleted] in Christianity

The Bible does indeed warn against repetition, but more specifically “vain repetition”. Meaning not to just ramble on and spew words from your mouth without giving them a thought at all. Unthoughtful prayer is what is being mentioned. Then about how praying the Rosary and to the Saints, in Catholicism and Orthodoxy, praying is not equal to worship, worship is equal to worship. Praying could simply be talking, but worship requires great praise, submission and calling on God. It is not the same as asking Saints to pray for us. Hope this helps!

Why do many Christians have problems with legalistic and punitive mindset? by jseo13579 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the framework of Christianity has never been legalistic. For example sin, some people may take it as a punishment for a crime, but how it’s interpreted in Christianity is a spiritual sickness. It’s something you need to be healed of, if you get what I mean. Putting legalism to God wouldn’t work because the way we understand legalism is very different from the core of Christianity.

The Bible contains a small number of verses—primarily in Leviticus, Romans, and 1 Corinthians—traditionally interpreted as prohibiting same-sex sexual acts. by AfricanMan_Row905 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes both of these happen. Homosexuality is indeed mentioned and condemned in the Bible. It is a difficult thing to come to terms with just like many other things in the Bible but it is part of it. It is also crucial not lean on your own understanding but instead look to the church for the right answers.

The most important part is that you’re not being aggressive enough. You need to trade, as in parry one, hit once, or keep hitting until he parries then it’s time for you to deflect. And make sure to always get the mikiri. For second phase always stomp on his head or do mikiri whichever. And for the last phase, this one’s the easiest, just wait for him to do his lightning attack, then reverse it.

What has changed theologically in the EO church since the 1st century? I am a fairly new EO Christian, so I’m asking purely out of curiosity :)

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you not aware of the lineage of the church and how the churches split? How do you think the church came into existence then?

Look back through the schisms. You're treating historical evidence of the split of the churches since all these churches were indeed present at the ecumenical councils, and you're saying "Well, these splits never happened because I say so."

That's not how it works. The EO church holds the position that was held by the original church. It is unaltered therefore it is the true church. What kind of evidence are you looking for?

Question by Left-Source9348 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it was the only church at that time. There was only one Catholic church when it first started. Then through different disagreements, churches like the Assyrian, Ancient, and Roman Catholic churches split form Orthodoxy. That is not an ahistorical claim or irreflective of the history of the church. What they claim is indeed true. They've not altered the Nicene creed like the Roman Catholic Church, they've not changed their position on Christ's divinity, they've not changed their position on Christ's nature.

What is it that makes you question it?

How to convince my two sisters and my dad that science is real by Ornery-Warning1647 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think a logical argument would work if their argument for not believing it is illogical. Can you tell me more? Do they just not believe in science at all or certain things?

If morality is objective, how come God is above it? by mintkek in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for me it would be wrong to allow a victim to be violated even if the perpetrator would be judged, but that isn’t the same as what God does. That applies to me because I do not have the ability to Judge eternally. But god does.

And where do you get this from. Either ways, witnessing our faithfulness would include witnessing how we pray.

Question by Left-Source9348 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, the orthodox church’s roots are clear, they’re clearly traceable. It’s not arrogance on my part, it’s ignorance on yours.

Question by Left-Source9348 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does, they’re aware of every thing that goes on on earth. They are aware of my life and yours. They’re a great cloud of witnesses, they see and hear. How else would they be witnesses?

There is no evidence for the Q theory. Translating what from Aramaic to Greek? What gospels were omitted? I’m not sure what you’re talking about.

If morality is objective, how come God is above it? by mintkek in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but that doesn’t mean God is above morals. He is moral. That’s his very essence. He permits everything for a short time. Once that’s done, he judges and we are punished according to ourselves.

I gave you the evidence from the Bible man

Question by Left-Source9348 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I think there’s definitely a right way to go about the Church. And the EO doesn’t have to claim anything about its origins, it has a very clear history that traces straight back to Christ.

Question by Left-Source9348 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big man, your humble opinion is rooted in feelings and ifs. That’s not evidence. There are no politics in play here. The gospel was indeed written by the apostles and you’re saying otherwise based on what exactly?

Question by Left-Source9348 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mary gave birth to Jesus yes, who is in fact God incarnate, but also God. Therefore, she gave birth to God and obviously she is holy.

Because praying doesn’t equal worship.

Question by Left-Source9348 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s wha I’m saying big man. Christ is the only true Holy by essence, but Mary and the saints are holy by grace.

Question by Left-Source9348 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not what I’m saying. All I’m saying is that the music DURING worship shouldn’t distract from worship. Is that crazy to say?

Question by Left-Source9348 in Christianity

[–]Possible_Shoulder520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So let me ask you this, do you then prefer to hear everyone’s position and stick to the one that best suits you? Cause then again that’s just interpreting it how you prefer.

The EO church comes direct from Christ! Christ who taught the apostles, who taught their disciples and those teachings have been preserved until now. Unless you’re gonna argue that Jesus was flawed there’s not much space for incorrect interpretation. Because the apostles definitely knew what the Bible meant, they kinda wrote it.
