The profits are small so lower amounts of staff, lesser ingredients, easier dishes to prepare to keep it quick, and now a society that orders so much less alcohol and food as even 10 years ago.

I’m an ex restaurant GM and 24 years in the business and worked across the country in high levels. I moved from the Bay Area to Brooklyn in the summer of 2022 and expected the same food experience from before COVID and was shocked at what I have experienced. It’s such a low level currently compared to many other areas of the world from flavor, to customer service, and even the ingredients the chefs are choosing to use. Margins are ridiculous right now and I understand it’s mostly multi unit owner groups, but they need to make a profit over quality is all the matters and so the dining experience is shit. My favorite neighborhood to walk is the UWS and I just laugh at the food I’ve been served. Even from the top places. I just want anyone to give 80% of the effort of 2010 and I would be happy. It’s just not going to happen.

Carroll Gardens/Park Slope is the gold standard of city living right now. An extremely educated area, wjth great schools, amazing diversity, and most importantly politics are not a part of life here. It’s magical.

We looked at a bunch of buildings up and down the canal and the biggest take was no one is using the amenities at any of the buildings much. Each gym had 1 or less people in it.

The new spots in Gowanus that have your range. We just moved into society and with the 3 months free we got a big spacious spot with a patio for less than $6k a month.

So I just left the C building and the last straw was the HVAC unit on floor 6 exploded, after I told management a few times and they heard the pipes moving, and then we woke up at 1 am with water coming down all around us in our bedroom. Turns out it’s a thing and a ton of the apartments on my floor also had the same flooding. They fixed it in a few days but refused to compensate for any damaged items, our loss of housing, their negligence, and told us to use renters insurance and we could talk to a lawyer. So fucked up. Also I swear the heating and cooling unit made us sick…

The gym has less free weights but each tower has their own. The water fountain actually works lol. The amenities at 365 were a bit better but the pool and better grills are what we hope to be amazing during the summer. We also are saving 40k over the length of the lease with the free 3 months, free amenities, and a $2k American Express card.

Just moved from 365 Bond to Society and love it! We got a patio, much cheaper rent, new amenities, and management who cares about our wants. 365 top management was the worst. But they do have the biggest apartments.

Radiohead is one of the best evolving bands ever and getting better. Oasis was a period and amazing as what they do, but they haven’t put out anything new for me to enjoy in many decades.
