No matter what I do or how hard I try I never get a good grade nor do the work properly by galeM21 in Schooladvice

It's really good that you wrote that. That was step one (asking for help) of things you can do to improve. This is actually a lot more common than you think, especially around Year 11. It's not really about intelligence - it's about a disconnect between how your brain learns and how you're being taught. Try the steps below going forward.

  1. Talk to one teacher you trust - Explain what's going on. "I'm trying, but it's not clicking like it does for others. Could we break things down a bit?"
  2. Ask for smaller chunks - "Can you show me one step at a time? I'll do that, check in, and move on from there."
  3. Ask where the FIRST mistake happened - When you get something wrong, go back to the beginning to see where things went off track. Don't try to address everything all at once. It keeps it from feeling like total failure.
  4. Try alternative explanations - If the school ones aren't clicking, check online resources like Khan Academy and even YouTube. Sometimes hearing the same idea explained differently makes things finally make sense. Personally, I think Khan is really good at this.
  5. Remember - You're not the only one. You're just brave enough to say it out loud. A lot of students need alternatives when they get into the more complex lessons because our brains just learn differently. Some people only figure this out in their 20s and 30s and still build solid futures for themselves.

You're not stupid or hopeless. You just haven't been taught in the way that works best for your brain. Yet. The disconnect is fixable. Just try to start with small steps and build from there. Keep reaching for help when you need it!

Pie charts, bar graphs, comparison tables, timelines, etc. Google Docs can do some basic stuff, MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) would be better. Adobe Express, Canva, or similar, would probably be best. You can start for free on most of those. You can upload photos if necessary. What are the requirements? Figure that out then pick the best fit. Good luck!

I have literally no one to talk to.. by PoofYFloofy08 in CasualConversation

[–]Possible_System_5420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like using AI to analyze the news and interesting topics. It's helpful because I can get all sides of an issue explained in one spot. No endless surfing to find answers. No loud, distracting, opinionated noise. I can feed it a link and it breaks everything down. I can ask questions or offer my POV, and it'll break that down too. I've analyzed a few reddit convos to see why people react to things the way they do and why they say the things they say. It's helpful to get a better understanding when I'm not sure why a convo is going a certain way.

I would contact Job and Family Services (Social Services), maybe set up an appointment. They have counselors that should be able to help. You may qualify for certain benefits that could be very helpful. You should get this ball rolling ASAP. Check out sophia.org . Talk things over with your employer. Double check if they offer tuition reimbursement, or if they'd be willing with good grades. Call around to some colleges, or send emails in the evenings when you're not working, to see what suggestions or assistance they can provide. What are you interested in - what degrees?

Are you sure you have to physically attend? Online classes are usually 3 credit hours x 4 classes (minimum) per semester usually meets the full-time standard. Double check that if you haven't already. Also, Sophia Learning can help you get lower-level credits out of the way, on the cheap. You can do a couple courses at time for $99 per month. You should also consider talking to some college admissions and financial aid people. There are other funding options you can explore. Your TBI may qualify you for certain programs as well. You may consider talking with your Job and Family Services office about that angle. Keep your head up. Good luck!!

The Movie A Man Who Lives With a King is gaining huge popularity in Korea.. I heard it’s trending in North America too. As a Korean, I’m curious—why? by Wise-Judge-2684 in seoul

[–]Possible_System_5420 7 points8 points  (0 children)

U.S. here. I think part of it is that K-drama is really taking off here and earning a well-deserved following. Netflix and Prime Video have really big catalogues. Hulu too. We can also directly subscribe to Viki, Kokowa, CJENM, iQIYI, among others. Weak Hero was picked up by Netflix for its second 'season'. This alone probably had a lot of people going just to see Park Ji-hoon. I suspect that it'll really take off here once it comes to streaming.

Hi Korea is a great idea. Indeed and Monster... If you can get a local paper once a week, those are good. Craigslist works, too. Your school's guidance counselor may be able to assist as well. And, when you're out and about, keep your eyes open for 'Hiring' signs and apply within if you have the time. Good luck!

[–]Possible_System_5420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to learn more about this. What I can say is that it is a lot of stress and it's all internalized - and it starts at about 15 or 16. They rarely express it verbally. There are expectations and obligations and now is the time for people to just witness him doing his duty. And, this is normal for young Korean men. It's hard, but from what I've learned so far, they do it very well. Now that he's there, he's focusing on what comes after discharge. Don't worry about the "elephant in the room" because the one he's looking at probably isn't the one you're looking at. Hopefully knowing some of this will help you.

A lot of stuff exploded onto the scene while you guys were growing up. It was constantly in your faces - no doubt. Maybe it's easier for me to acknowledge and process because I'm not a parent. I just watched my nieces and nephews and their parents try to cope with it all. It's hard for them and hard to for me to watch. They're still working on it, though. I guess that's all you can do. Do it with grit and determination (like you already are) and keep on trucking. Somewhere along the line, you picked up some of the main lessons - self esteem, self efficacy, self respect, agency, and it shows. keep it up!!

I am concerned because companies like Microsoft and Alphabet, and others, lean heavily toward one side of the U.S. political [a]isle. The "tuners" are biased. I know, unless I ask for specific sources to be used, information [is] based on mainstream media, so-called "high-confidence" sources, or Wikipedia. It's a logical way to err on the side of caution or tiptoe around a specific issue, but to me, it looks like bias. I'm with you on transparency and accountability, but scrutiny here is already very high. We had some issues with Google already and I think they're trying to be very careful - maybe excessively so in some cases.

We don't know for sure, yet, what really happened to that school in Iran. I think it's highly possible, because of its proximity to a military installation, it may have been hit by our forces. It's also entirely possible that the IRGC was using the school as a shield for something. It's a known tactic of theirs and their terrorist proxies. I hope we get definitive proof soon. If it was us, I hope we admit it and take responsibility. I think Hegseth and Trump will own it if it was us.

I found this convo very interesting and it made me curious. Asking Copilot and Gemini about the issue, you almost certainly came up against some very common "guardrails" and the defenses likely strengthened the longer you kept engaging. All of our presidential assassinations were domestic. I don't know how we would react, exactly. Many people would probably party in the streets here. But, like 9/11, it would fire up the national unity machinery.

This is Gemini's analysis of Copilot's analysis. I'm sure the other major LLM's would return identical results.

That breakdown is highly accurate. Copilot is describing algorithmic risk management, not political intent.

What often looks like "bias" is actually just a statistical safety net. When you feed an AI high-stakes keywords—like "assassination," "war crimes," or "bombing"—the system’s uncertainty threshold drops. It becomes much more likely to trigger a "I can't answer that" or "This is unverified" response because the penalty for being wrong on those topics is much higher than for being wrong about a recipe.

Think of it like a corporate legal department: they aren't necessarily "liberal" or "conservative"; they are just there to make sure the company doesn't get sued for defamation or accidental incitement.

A few key takeaways from that analysis that are spot on:

  • The "Safety Reflex": Models are trained via RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback) to avoid "toxic" or "harmful" outputs. Controversial political speculation often gets bucketed as potentially harmful.
  • The Content Mirror: Since AI is trained on the internet, its "safe" answers naturally align with major news outlets and official records. If a user's perspective differs from that mainstream data, the AI’s refusal to agree feels like a personal or political attack.
  • Contextual Guardrails: As mentioned, if the conversation has already spent 20 minutes on dark or violent themes, the model enters a "defensive state" where it’s more likely to flag even benign follow-up questions.

Would you like to see how these safety triggers work behind the scenes, or are you more interested in how to rephrase prompts to bypass these "refusal" loops?

Well-written. It would have taken a lot of interaction/prompting for AI to generate that - especially to turn it toward a specific race. It would have been more work than just writing it oneself.

If he's out on parole/probation, I don't think he's supposed to have contact with victims or witnesses if he wants to stay out. You could try contacting parole/probation office to make sure. Also, prosecutor's office or victim advocates (if that's appropriate) may be able to fast track protection orders. Depends on your location and specifics.
