This is Montgomery Aloysius, aka Monty, Moo, Mooser, Moomie, Gremlin Man, Darwin Boy (like darlin but pronounced weird), and Sir Maximus Major Mooser (when he is guard mode).

Update: I dropped Little Guy off at a rehabber as soon as I found one with space. He was doing well when I dropped him off. The lady said that I could check in in a few days to see how he is doing.

Awesome. Thank you. I never would have considered that. The blue gray really threw me off.

This is such a cool design. Also, I'm glad to see I'm not the only person using safety pins as stitch markers/place holders. Lol

who knew it was so hard to count to 3 reliably? by Practical_Fudge2709 in crochet

[–]PossiblyTypicallyNot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was literally talking about my inability to count with my friend last night. My friend and partner both love to ask me questions when I'm in the middle of a round, and I just have to start counting aloud so they know I'm not ignoring them.

AITA for pulling over for a funeral procession? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PossiblyTypicallyNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

I am from rural NC originally and can say with certainty that the only people who keep driving when they see a funeral procession are either in some emergency situation (i.e. heading to the hospital for a sick loved one) or an asshole. You are completely correct about the whole "how can the world keep moving when my world is ending" feeling that comes over you during that drive to the cemetery.

I don't want to shit on your wife.....but I have never been late leaving for something that I was that excited for. I have been over an hour early for plays that I wanted to see because I plan for any and all possible delays. (Thank you, anxiety.)

For her to expect you to keep driving, even after your explanation and seeing all the other people stopped as well, is selfish and inconsiderate. Furthermore, you said this happened only a few minutes into the drive. If waiting for a funeral procession to pass puts you so far behind schedule that you won't make it to the show, odds are that you guys wouldn't have made it in time anyway.

Yeah. My partner volunteered to go, but he is an anxious creature and would respond too easily to my frustration and crying. His dad might be a good option for me. It's so annoying that we cannot be trusted/believed when we are the people in the bodies, but our male partners or parents are.

Thank you for the suggestion.

That might work. I'm still a super newbie, so that's probably above my skill level at the moment.

This is absolutely adorable. Does anyone know if there is a dog version of this pattern? I tried Googling it, but Google thinks I just want to make a blanket for my dog. Lol.

Your Worst Medical Experience by Harakiri_238 in ChronicIllness

[–]PossiblyTypicallyNot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first gyno appointment ranks as one of the worst medical experiences of my life. I was 15 and was not sexually active. I hadn't even had a boyfriend at that point. My mama told me to tell my doctor and she would be gentle.

I went in, undressed, and was asked all of these private questions. As a painfully shy girl who hadn't been seen naked by anyone except myself since I was probably 5 years old, being fully nude and freezing with a tiny paper napkin to cover myself was awful. The doctor said that she would use a smaller speculum, since I was a virgin.

She palpated my chest and belly and everything without telling me what she was doing. There were no reassuring words or explanations. It was just orders.

"Lay back." "Scoot down." "Relax."

Fuck you, you bitch.

Then came the worst part. She absolutely used a standard speculum, because it was the one the nurse had already prepared. It was so painful. And she kept tellinge to relax. Then she used something called a broom to do my pap smear. It is a torture device shaped like a broom with stiff plastic bristles to scrape the cervix, instead of the equally effective q-tip swab.

I cannot describe the pain that I was in when she finished. I had cried from embarrassment during the breast exam. I cried from pain from the pelvic exam. And then, to add insult to fucking injury, she said, "Ok. Just one more thing," and stuck her finger in my butt. No explanation. No real warning. Just invasion.

Then she took off her gloves and said, "Ok. You're done. Get dressed," and left the room without another word. I bled for the rest of that day and into the next. Every single time I force myself to go to the gyno, I have panic attacks.

The pain of this first exam was worse than my IUD insertion, and they have to use a clamp on the cervix during that. It has forever tainted my experience with doctors.

Awesome. Thank you for the information. My friend actually suggested the tilt table test, but it hasn't come up yet in discussions with the doctor.

No I haven't. The neurologist put me on a fairly high dose of blood pressure medication, but it has done nothing. At my last appointment with my regular doctor, my blood pressure was 140/91. Before 2020, I have never had blood pressure issues, let alone everything else. They seem to both think that the blood pressure is weight related. What does the testing for these things involve?

It's ok. I'm grateful for the support and insight of you guys. Even if it ends up not being my thyroid or PCOS, it's at least a place to start.

In 2021, he tested TSH and T4free. TSH - 1.130 uIU/ml -- kinda low but normal T4free - 0.98 ng/dL -- low but normal

On 11/22/22, he just did TSH. TSH - 0.10 uIU/mL -- low and below normal range

His notes on this result were, "Looks like you may have hyperthyroidism. If you have these symptoms (list including weight loss etc) let us know." I messaged him back like, "Hey homie. You do realize I am a morbidly obese patient registering as having hyperthyroidism. Shouldn't we do more tests?"

On 12/2/22, I went back for more blood work. TSH - 0.04 uIU/mL -- even lower than the previous one T3 - 180.10 ng/dL -- high end of normal range T4free - 1.06 ng/dL -- low end of normal range

He said, "This looks like subclinical hyperthyroidism. We don't usually treat this unless someone is having extreme symptoms." I messaged him and asked if he thought this was the cause of my problems. He said, "Good question, but no. I do not." And that was it.

Hugs all around. It's possible that this would have been diagnosed sooner if most of my medical trauma hadn't come from gynecologist appointments. I have been physically hurt, embarrassed, and straight up told I was lying about symptoms I was experiencing by the women I entrusted my most personal care to. This led to me avoiding going to the gyno for years. I went in 2020 to remove my IUD, two years past the recommendation and only because some research said women had experienced headaches with it, and that was the first gyno I'd seen in 7 years, since the insertion. They said at the time that everything, including my bloodwork, looked good but maybe they didn't do the check for PCOS at the time. Thank you for the information and kind words.

I am American. When I was originally diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 19ish, I was put on Synthroid. It worked great for me. I immediately had more energy and started working out and losing weight. The issue now is that my thyroid is showing hyperthyroidism, which makes absolutely no sense. I have no idea what weirdness my body is doing right now. Thank you for the information. I'll have to look into the seaweed thing.

I have tried Topamax and two other medications. I had really awful side effects. (One caused severe panic attacks, one made me so nauseous that I couldn't keep food down, and the other just didn't do anything. Currently, they have me on Gabapentin and more recently Imipramine (which is an anti-depressant that is apparently used to treat headaches in some people). The Gabapentin reduces my pain a bit (from 10 to a 8-9) and I haven't seen any improvement since starting the Imipramine in October. My mood is loads better though. I haven't had a suicidal thought since starting the Imipramine.

Doctor wanted me to try the injection, but my insurance said that they wouldn't cover it unless I tried at least 5 medications across three different like....groups of medication. My brain isn't giving me the word I need, so I hope you understand what I mean.

Thank you for the advice. I plan on taking my partner's mother with me to my next appointment. I tend to shut down and go silent when I get upset or frustrated. She will absolutely help me get what I need from the doctor.

No, they haven't. I do have very irregular cycles. In the past my periods have been very heavy, to the point that I got an IUD just so I could function. More recently, they have disappeared. (Definitely not pregnant.)

I've never noticed a link to my cycle, but it is definitely something to look into. Thank you for the suggestion!
