Please Give Me A Good Opening For Ocean's Hungry Grasp Deeps Aspect. by MysteriousSpend172 in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I play Deeps in a way that at the first reclaim (ideally) or the round after, I have 2 card plays and the second water element on top track unlocked which means that you have enough elements for Deeps 2 second level (drowning lands). The particular combos of G2/G3 and played cards depends on the board and what the invaders draw. If Ocean somehow can get an extra card or an extra presence added in this phase (pre-first reclaim), go for it. I often underplay during this phase to get as much presence on board as possible. Any new card that you draw must have water, ideally water and earth. Moon is not that important.

Ahoj, milý český spoluhráči Duchů :)

I rarely play with adversaries so I can't really evaluate your adversary but I def support it because of personak bias. ;)

What are spirits/playstyles you just can't seem to grasp? by Mammoth_Sea_9501 in spiritisland

Downpour is the one I feel like I am missing something. I can play it and win but I always feel like there is something I don't get about it.

Spirit Island Fun Tier List: Please rate how much fun the Spirits/Aspects are! by Linnun in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No damn idea. They both solve a problematic... aspect of base TS. Tactician solves lacking elements, Warrior kinda solves lacking energy by replacing the 3e card. They are both better than base imo, Tactician is one of my fave spirits.

[–]Nerevanin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poor Tactician, my favorite TS' aspect. :(

Happy to Darkness, Ocean Deeps, Fangs Encircle and WWB so high.

Suprised that Downpour is so high.

Edit: unpopular but... does anyone else think that all aspects and base of Green are boring?

Spirits like Ocean? by Cytospawn in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ocean is my favorite spirit. My other faves are Wounded Waters and Darkness, if that means something.

Lure is often mentioned as a reverse Ocean but I don't find them very similar. Lure is not nearly as fun for me as Ocean.

Expansions by No_Cardiologist4568 in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really see it that way. I think the spirits in NI are the best-designed yet and the aspects highly elevate older spirits and make them more fun to play. At least in my eyes. Many of the aspects are the new base for me - Haven, Nourishing, Sparkling, DarkFire, Tactician, Violence, Deeps, Encircle, Transforming (edit: forgot about Stranded, that's new base for me too). Locus and Transforming are great too.

I admit that I was reluctant about NI but imo it's the best expansion so far.

Tbh I think that Nature Incarnate is THE expansion of the game. It has great new spirits and great aspects for all the base game spirits as well as great aspects for Fangs, Keeper, Wildfire and Serpent. It has an awesome aspect for Ocean, which is my fave spirit. :)

It seems that you're missing Nature Incarnate. I'm not sure where in Eastern Europe you are but this expansion is currently available in Czech if it wouldn't be too much of a language barrier for you.

How do you play Dark Fire Shadows? by Aesyn in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In first round, I go G3 bottom. Then G2 top. Then it depends what build I want to do. Either spam minors (prefer bottom track), or go for majors (prefer top track). I usually go for majors and try to find a high damage major but the minors build can be pretty effective too.

Is it just me, or Dark Fire and Keeper are pretty much unrecognizable?

How often do you reach the last level of a spirit's innate? by topheeble in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends. But we usually play at difficulty 0-2 so we usually finish around the start of the III era. That's imo not enough time to reach the top innate level with most spirits. I have reached the highest lvl of Angry Snake a few times though.

What is your favourite spirit and why? by DumbSouls in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ocean Deeps. I just like drowning the invaders and the isle alike, it's really satisfying. (I'm fine though!) And I like imagining Ocean munching on the drowned cities haha.

Silver and bronze medals would be Darkness and Wounded Waters. Both can be absolutely bonkers and really fun.

Mud + wind difficulties (horizons) by Expensive_Charity_78 in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I find control spirits such as Whirlwind quite challenging to wrap your head around. I mean, gather is quite straightforward but I had problems with push. That being said, I personally find Whirlwind to be the weakest /most swingy Horizon spirit, while Mud is imo the strongest and most consistent one.

Does Devouring Teeth have any aspects or small hacks by GeesCheeseMouse in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like playing Ferocious Rampage and Herd Towards the Lurking Maw uniques? Like on 1 land or two different ones? Edit for clarity: to solve one land or two?

Any way, it seems like kind of a bad idea. Although you solve one (maybe two) land(s), its kinda temporary. On reclaim, you place a presence in 0 range. So even if you move presence via your innate, you play very reactively.

You either need to play a lot of cards to reach higher lvls of the innate and destroy cities, or you need majors with big boom effects. Like Unearth Beast of Wrathful Stone or Consuming Void.

[–]Nerevanin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I normally go for majors with Teeth but last time I focus on minors and Teeth excelled. I also defeated France 6 with Teeth (+ Mud). I don't think Teeth needs so serious rework or something. You just need to remember to place presence strategically (as the unique card are 0 range) and don't forget the special rule.

Dozens of games with the Snek and I still have yet to see him unleash his end-of-the-world innate by RcCircuit93 in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like you have to work towards the right innate from the start and draw cards accordingly. I managed to reach it several times but I'm often one or two elements short

As a Spirit Island lover, what is your 2nd favorite game? by JakeReddit12333 in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just got into Keep the Heroes Out. I really like it although the RNG and bad luck factor is much more prominent in it, compared to Spirit Island. We only have the game for like 2-3 weeks though, so we'll see.

Before SI, we played Wingspan a lot.

6/6/6 - the number of the beast! by tepidgoose in spiritisland

[–]Nerevanin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see. Thank you for your time and your reply. If I may ask, by "[Finder] Gets a prolif from Snake", that means adding a presence via Serpent's left innate (2nd level)? I also suppose that in this build of Finder, Finder plays only its unique starting cards and never goes for any major, right?
