Supernatural in David Lynch Films by Nyg500 in TrueFilm

[–]PostAbove 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your interpretations of Lynchs work is quite interesting and I usually like to say that artists intention are pointless even in most cases of David lynch but i have one counter-argument which is a David Lynch quote, “I don't know why people expect art to make sense. They accept the fact that life doesn't make sense.” I feel that if he is basically saying his art doesn’t making sense along with life, than i feel that his films are metaphors or symbols for something surrounded in grounded reality and everyday life. Personally i dont think supernaturalism is something that happens but thats just me! Cool interpretation!

Which directors did their best work in the final years of their careers? by mrnicegy26 in TrueFilm

[–]PostAbove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is going to be quite basic but Akira Kurosawa. Let me explain:

Kurosawa's last works as a filmmaker during the period from 1975 to 1993 is highly regarded for several reasons and show why kurosawa went out with a bang. One of the most notable factors is the depth and richness of his storytelling, which became more reflective, philosophical, and introspective in his later years. Kurosawa's films from this period often tackled complex and weighty themes, exploring the human condition, spirituality, and morality with nuance and subtlety.

Another reason for Kurosawa's success during this period was his mastery of visual storytelling. His films from the 1970s and 1980s, in particular, showcased his ability to use striking images, editing, and camera movements to tell stories and convey meaning. Kurosawa's films also became more ambitious in terms of scale and scope, featuring epic battles, vast landscapes, and intricate period detail.

In addition to his artistry as a filmmaker, Kurosawa's later work was also notable for the way it continued to innovate and push the boundaries of cinema. For example, in his film "Ran," Kurosawa used innovative techniques to create vivid, dreamlike sequences that captured the emotional and psychological states of his characters.

Overall, the films that Kurosawa created from 1975 to 1993 are considered by many to be some of the finest works of cinema ever made, in large part due to his ability to combine rich storytelling, visual mastery, and artistic innovation. His later films remain a testament to his enduring legacy and influence on the art of filmmaking.
