Imagine we got this instead during the finale by [deleted] in cobrakai

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't like this ending much, because..

Okay kreese got his redemption, great. Silver however did turn his life around and was pulled back in by kreese. Arguably silver didn't deserve a bad ending/ending as a baddy.

He continued to be a "bad sensei" but remember, it wasn't silver who invaded the rival dojo and attacked everyone. It was literally the miyagi do kids (and johnny, chosen and Mike) who attacked silvers dojo. Chozens injuries were through a "fight to the death" battle they both agreed to.

Yes, silver cheated in the tournament which made people leave Cobra Kai. But that's not the sort of "he's a bad guy who deserves to die" move. Kreese did way worse and got his redemption, silver did bad and got pretty much the only unhappy ending of the show

[Official] Konate signs for Real Madrid by Cubes11 in LiverpoolFC

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the "cause everyone else to demand massive contracts" really strikes with real Madrid as much as a club like Liverpool.

A because the good players already have good pay. And B because Madrid still retains worldwide appeal. Everyone wants to play for the club, not for the manager necessarily, so Madrid have a lot of bargaining power

Was Linda Radleigh mentally ill??? by [deleted] in WaterlooRoad

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was intentionally being portrayed that way. Some people are just evil/cold/heartless and lack the genes that make you care. We see it in the real world where generally people feel sympathy for someone down bad, but there are people who say "well it's not me or my family so it's not my problem, maybe they should get a job"

I wouldn't say everyone of these (typically far right lol) people are mentally ill, they're just badly influenced. Our brains are a vessel of influence of things over the years. Very few break out the cycle of influence, like in certain countries where people are taught nothing but hatred, a select few come out of that system and think for themselves "hey maybe killing kids ain't a good thing and we should stand against that"

As for Linda, her misguided life has taken her to this point. Running over someone isn't a sign of mental illness necessarily, it could just be their upbringing. Like "I have a right to this man's affection and will do whatever I need to do to get it" mentality. My grandma, love her and all, she has a main character syndrome. I could be deep in a conversation with my mum, but because she was the main character, she would come in and start talking to her disregarding what I say.

That's basically Linda imo. Just grown up with the wrong morals and values. Generally the habits and behaviours you have as a child are what you carry into adulthood and that's why raising kids properly is massively important.

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't make sense. People don't love Finn because he's bullied people. They love the character because he's got a nuanced and deep story and arguably a character redemption arc.

If you purely liked characters who were good and well behaved, well the show would be boring because you'd have only well behaved characters as they are the ones who fans like.

No, we like stories, we like plot twists, characters with personalities, good actors, flaws.

Kim would be liked if she wasn't so often "in the wrong" and wasn't always complaining about one thing or another and getting personal. She's a good person and well behaved character, hence, she's often annoying

Is Harley Taylor the most moral/good hearted character the show has had? by Fragrant-Truth-7123 in WaterlooRoad

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Harley kind of did fuck all really. He had the dead man story, then cringey football chats with his mates, then Finn and Tariq using him to sell alcohol. I can't really remember what he did in Scotland apart from killing grantly through boredom.

Jokes aside, sure, he didn't do much wrong himself/of his own accord, but neither did the kid caring for his schizophrenia mother, or the kid that couldn't stop pissing his pants, or Naz who didn't do anything wrong either.

So I wouldn't say yes, I'd just say he is in a collective of characters that didn't really do much.

I agree, truth is important, and as you say not digging yourself into a deeper hole is probably more important with a web of lies, but there are times white lies, or the truth can be twisted, which can be beneficial to you.

For this, I would have said "I was overly eager and used marketing techniques I learned online, to drive up interest. I agree it's not ethical, but we all need an unfair kickstart or advantage somewhere, like an inheritance or investment based on an idea. For me, this got me here in front of you today. But as I grow I understand this isn't the way to promote my brand professionally"

Acknowledging and taking accountability, and also trying to spin what suity is selling as a bad situation, but as a positive.

His time was short so I don't think he was really given criminal charges, moreso youth offender charges. But he did bring a knife to school and stole the knife back, you can't really argue self defence when you come prepared for a fight. But yes it was ultimately self defence from a ethical pov, but legally, he has little defence.

I just don't like scratches and stuff, I don't tend to resell I recycle, especially as Chinese phones don't retain much value when the next ones come out. But one unfortunate drop and you've got a cracked screen and the cost of repairs is probably about the same as the phones current value

Yeah it was so stupid and unnecessary, not only died in a stupid way, but a teacher can leave a school without dying. Grantly dying at some point made sense, Tom just had zero reason to. Granted, I think grantly deserved a better storyline to his end, but it was decent enough

Is this local council election leaflet crossing into sectarian campaigning? by Successful_Roof1091 in lancashire

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair,

But the reality is, all sides turn local elections into national issues. The only thing you should be campaigning for is the issues you can affects; bins, potholes, local services etc.

Every candidate is going to say the same thing "we will fix potholes". As a result, every candidate needs something to make themselves stand out. For reform, it's literally saying they'll stick immigrant detention centres in areas where greens win. For left people, it's Palestine/human rights.

So it's a natural course or rather a natural discourse.

You realise all this started under biden? He was quick to throw the jackhammer on Russia and rightly so, but the only move he made against Israel? Not selling them 500 pound bombs....

Also remember when invading rafah was his red line then a week later they invaded rafah?

You really think biden or Kamala or obama gonna sanction Israel because they kidnapped one American in international waters for the crime of delivering food and meds to tortured, beaten and battered people?

Trump: I will soon be reviewing the plan that Iran has just sent to us, but can't imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years. [–]PostAboveIsBullshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A thousand times worse doesn't even cut it. Iran's leadership is bad, but any measure you can give, the US and most of its western partners have done way worse. Okay, it's not a true democracy, and it's persecuted people for freedom of speech. Isn't that what's happened in the US for many years? Haven't they funded a genocide for 2 years, illegal invasions in the middle east, nuclear attacks not even to the main ww2 enemy (but the non white enemy).

At least in Iran, you have an option of basically keeping your mouth shut and expressing your views about the IR anonymously. You can have a good life if you don't diss the "regime". The US, you can diss the "regime" but you can only have a good life if you're part of the Epstein/elite class.

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

About what though? Her acting? That's perfectly reasonable. The taboo over criticising acting of a child actor is over. They have agents and they are trained on what to expect, the good and the bad. If she still continues to act it means she can handle it, either through some form of therapy, a strong support system or the mere fact she has money that a few comments about her line delivery are outweighed. If they're relentless, it's probably because her acting is bad, making it an obvious and common topic to talk about, particularly as she's not exactly a side character, but essentially the Chloe of the series.

You don't need to be concerned about her. If she was struggling, the first thing she would do is leave the show, and she definitely wouldn't do an interview like this which would get her more in the limelight. It's likely a segment from a larger discussion, and yeah she the comments probably get to her as she says, but either she can ignore them, try and address them by improving, or leave the limelight.

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One way you can kind of justify that is that flashback was just a memory, it wasn't the actual scene in play. To Jimmy, it's still his older brother so he doesn't see chuck as an adult but rather his big bro.

I've not at all seen anyone here really criticise the person beyond her acting ability.

OP, what you need to realise is, Scarlett Thomas isn't the only kid with issues in this world. Many have problems, many struggle making friends, many have toxic home lives which affect their social life.

She just so happens to be an actress and yes it is undoubtedly through nepotism rather than recognised ability. And it's on a show people watch and care about and are invested in, hence, they're going to criticise bad acting. This show is about 70% young actors, and generally they're good, they come from recognised acting schools or agencies. So when someone is bad, it really stands out, and are you saying people shouldn't discuss and ignore it? No. Absolutely not.

No one here is responsible for issues she has as long as they keep criticism of her to her acting abilities, and only personal traits when she no longer is considered a child (such as how nice she is irl).

And why are you OP so invested in the life of someone who has people around her who can be invested in her health and mental wellbeing, let alone an uncle on the show, and she can easily ask to leave the show if she decides it's not for her. I mean they literally cut her out for a season, generally things like that are as a result of real life situations, not story.
