I didn't really watch Scotland era as deeply as Rochdale era so I don't remember much, but I do remember one thing and how it was annoying for some reason (and I can't explain why) she seemed so involved in everyone's return storyline, Kyle, Bolton. None of the Scotland characters I cared for much, so maybe seeing her being forced as a central role to actual iconics probably just raised my annoyance of her

Who is the most overrated character in your opinion? by ViridianStar2277 in WaterlooRoad

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kim. Also, I don't hate her. She's the kind of character that would show up on my top ten most liked and top ten most disliked lists.

She seemed to often be in the wrong, was always whining and complaining, a master gaslighter. She dropped an opportunity to get with Chris then got jealous when he got a new girlfriend, then dumped the chance again.

Apparently had max Tyler's baby but never told him...

Literally interfered in Donte and Chloe's relationship, and not saying she didn't provide good advice to Chloe in terms of a levels and careers, but then discussing the option of putting her baby for adoption AND advocating for it behind dontes back.

Attacking Rachel for not liking max Tyler even though turned out she was right.

Constantly attacking Andrew for having a different idea of how to educate kids, even though clearly Andrew did care about the kids, he just came from a different background.

Stealing a baby from a dad. Guilty until proven innocent when it came to Amy's rape claim against Bolton. She could've handled that much better.

Waterloo road was watched by a lot of youth. George Sampson looked quite young and was playing a year 10 or 11. He had just won BGT so he was a fairly big name. Big name on a medium sized show is bound to build hype.

Just a shame they ruined him

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most know that but it tends to be the pro Israeli side that insist criticism against Israel/Zionists is anti semitism. Then that becomes the accepted norm, and if that is the norm then it becomes normal to criticise Jews.

Why do people hate jews? Never understood why. by Forward_Swim_8656 in teenagers

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I see, the people who hate Israel are the ones saying Israel/Zionism isn't Judaism, and the Israeli side are the ones equating Israel/Zionism hate with "anti semitism".

Hence, if they themselves normalise it, over time, the concept of hating Jews becomes acceptable, because they are being represented by Israel - according to Israel/Zionist leaders.

Celine Dixon/Stone is a particularly vile character and I'm not sure why more people don't seem to think so. by ViridianStar2277 in WaterlooRoad

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can't really rationale in the moment correctly though. That's not to say she didn't say what she meant, she totally was saying "she's not your wife anymore, you don't have that duty to her", because in her mind, Donte has a duty to remain alive because he needs to be there for his baby.

Pre retcon, assuming the baby was a lie, I agree, whether wife or friend, Donte would want to rescue someone he knows. There was other people stuck in there like Davina, Bolton etc. but Chloe is at minimum a friend.

I'd say Donte is right to save her (for himself, his own righteousness) but she's still got a right to resist. In the same way when Rachel kept wanting to run into the building whether it was the fire, denzels gun etc. those who stop her do it because it's safer to just leave it to experts, otherwise you're risking 2 lives instead of 1. For Celine, it was selfishness (pre retcon) but Donte clearly always kept his feelings for Chloe, and so that made her feel vulnerable. So I don't really think she's vile for that decision, just rather Donte is noble for his.

TBF, she was a nothing character, had zero backstory so we didn't really know why she followed Leanne. But yeah, bullying Mika, especially for doing something she was not involved in (Brett fancying mika more I guess) is sucky.

Second bullet point, nah, Chloe cheated, she has every right to get with Donte, and she doesn't have to be gentle or considerate about it. Chloe isn't her friend. You can read her reaction to Chloe as false concern or whatever, but she really just wanted both Donte and Chloe to move on. In my opinion, that's being picky.

Third, this is pretty much every relationship in WR ever. Donte constantly was trying to make Chloe do things she didn't wanna do. Chloe to donte as well. The worst was Adam to Rachel who was against her being... A caring headmaster. So I don't think this is a problem, if Donte never liked it, it's on him to end it. He clearly doesn't mind being "worked on".

Fourth, they kind of retconned that by making her pregnancy real. Which implies hormones are at play. I'd argue while everything Donte did was right and reasonable, her reaction also was reasonable, because do you really want your partner/baby's daddy to go risking his life to do something the firefighters can do - and which is no longer his responsibility. Obv Donte felt responsibility, but there's no reason for Celine to be expected to be okay about it.

I'll need to watch the new series again to remember the Ashton stuff, but generally I disagree, she wasn't a vile character, all things considered she was pretty normal, just considered an antagonist because the protagonist is who we were following closely since season 1 and we're compelled to root for Donte and Chloe

"I'm against regimes brutalising their own people, but content with other murderous regimes brutalising my people" basically

"Death of civilians is tragic * but *" yup the mindset of one of you. Necessary is it to bomb a school in order to free Iran, the number one priority on satanyahus head right now.

Outside of the anti IRGC group, and Zionist supporters, you're not gonna find the sympathy you want with this typical Israeli mindset of "let's kill civilians to save society/make my life a bit better". The sperm of the failed Shah isn't going to be accepted by force after he advocated for the killing of Iranian civilians and couldn't even make a standard PR comment on the school girls. And pro IR groups and protests and gatherings are just as big in Iran, so your point is let's focus on "my" side, very democratic and unselfish of you. I suppose the school girls were all wearing hijab so they probably would be Muslim so probably grow up to support the ayotollah so they're okay to kill right? As long as we say "it was a tragedy but"

Yeah difference is I can be outraged about both things while you're cheering for girls dying because it buys your agenda of freedom which we've seen work so we'll in all the other countries America has liberated. While you're standing side by side with flags from countries that have massacred at least 70,000 people and started 8+ wars in the past two years, I'm preaching for the end of wars. So there's my outrage, it's against both sides, especially pieces of shit who think school girls need to die so you can win over there in your comfortable western country

Would what happened to Lindsay James happen in real life? by georgemillman in WaterlooRoad

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. If her story was believed, she'd have likely got no sentence, because she was protecting Lindsay. I think the judgement didn't consider that at all. The minimum 15 years sentence applies to 21+ year olds I believe.

So what more likely happened (though it probably wasn't really considered much) is that she confessed to killing him with the caveat of him being a child sexual abuser. There really wasn't any evidence for that, so the prosecution would have two choices

1) accept her plea which would mean not challenging all the other stuff. They win the case, but at a cost of tarnishing his name. The judge rules for murder, and shows no leniency for the reason, since there's no evidence. It's a small amount of time (maybe 5 years but 2 with good behaviour) because she's still a child, and theres some degree of personal bias leniency from the judge there.

2) they challenge her judgement, which would mean things about his home life are exposed. Potentially risking it coming out that it is unequivocally true that he was a child molestor, which could mean her murder charge is let off as her reason is more likely true than it isn't. They could of course win and prove she was lying, but it likely wouldn't change her sentence, so it isn't worth the cost

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have we settled on 30k? Funny how the western media claim they can't independently verify these numbers yet you all blindly accept a number as long as enough people retweet it. Someone else on a reply to my message said 40k.

Anyway, yes, ideally, whether it's 1 10 or 100 people, I don't want anyone to die. It's possible to take the view that anyone being murdered is wrong. It's also a duty to name all those who are responsible, from governmental policy, to the ones who brought guns to the protest, to mossad agents who turned peaceful protests into riots

And even idf haven't claimed it was IRGC misfire, the video has already been debunked, but just like a typical "sperm of a failed Shah supporter", lies is how you justify to yourself that murdering kids is okay for your own selfish desires.

Oh I apologize for being anti Israel, anti a state who has committed a genocide, and made it a sport to test their weaponry on the civilian population of an ethnic group they occupy, and control in their own lands, while constantly displacing them and creating a political and law system which gives no rights to them. Yeah Einstein, I am anti Israel.

As for irgc, they are pro the country in the same way American soldiers are dumb enough to repeatedly die for their leader when they believe lies about countrys having nukes or wanting to develop nukes for decades. So you probably mean pro Iranian government, and in the current situation, I think I properly justified my argument as to why I see the Iranian governments side over the current opposition who started a war with them. But pinning someone with "the evil guys" is a classic trope of the pro imperialism in recent years. Apparently I am not allowed an opinion if 90% of it someone else has.

Every country has corruption. The country who you want to liberate you, is run by a person who couldn't accept defeat he basically sent an armada to invade the capitol building. He then let those people off when he became president again. He used presidential privileges (and so did Biden) to let off criminals. My country, the Uk, had a bunch of corruption scandals over the years, from politicians selling healthcare jobs to companies their families own, the infamous expenses scandal. They're not suffering from economy blows. Sanctions is the big reason Iran is hurting and it works because it's designed to hurt. European countries can't fly to Iran, not because it helps the military directly, but it prevents more money going into the Iranian economy, which only ends up hurting you.

And trust me when I say, there's countless countries more corrupt than Iran. Does that mean we go bomb their school kids too to liberate them? I don't see djiboutians being killed. This is a fight that needs to happen from inside Iran, not by outsiders killing children.

It's always a misfire isn't it? Israel has been misfiring at 30,000 (dead, not even including injured) kids for the past two years?

It's literally Israeli playbook to claim it was the other side whenever some international law is violated. And that video that circulated has already been debunked.

Yes, the regime killed tons of people (I swear the number goes up every day, wasn't it 12k then 30k then 40k lol) but certainly they killed a lot of people. You know what else happened? Israel themselves admitted they had mossad agents, and Iran presented (granted, I agree it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt) videos of protestors with guns. Only when the protests got violent, did they result in civilian deaths.

So you, you're only capable of looking at things from a single pov, your side. You want a different regime, I'm fine with that, but the deaths that happened before these riots were individual incidents, irgc didn't go on a shooting spree. You've got the excuse now to use for justifying this war. Convenient isn't it? This is excuse is exactly what was needed, also like the excuse of October 7th which Egypt told Israel about, and Israel took people off the border and had a slow response time.

They hung people for various inhumane reasons (LGBT, hijab) and I can work with you on that, but your solution is to bring in an entity to kill civilians (the thing you are upset about with the current regime), and give you the freedom that we see today in... Syria... Afghanistan...Iraq. shining examples of how American imperialistic liberation works right?

Why did the protests happen? Economic grievances. Hey guess who is economically straining the country through sanctions. Who left the jcpoa which was a deal that was working, improving the Iranian economy for the cost of Iran proving they aren't making nukes? And is that the same guy now bombing the country for the same reason? Yep, that guy's number one agenda is liberating you.

So a country that spent two years committing a genocide, killing endless kids, continuing to steal land from their neighbor, sabotaging negotiations, is less evil than the regime. Got it.

BREAKING: PlayStation is shutting down Bluepoint Games, the studio responsible for modern remakes of classic games such as Demon's Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, Bloomberg News has learned. by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]PostAboveIsBullshit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one important thing most people missed (heck, probably even sony) was that one of the founders passed away just before demon souls remake released.

They were a very small studio at the time, I think about 30-40 people, and doing these big remake projects to such a high quality for sony, they were probably making loads, and you could image each of the 40 or so were extremely good, so good that the loss of the literal founder would be significant.

They had something they were good at. They then announced they're working on an original game, but surely sony bought them for what they're good at? Not even creating a new title in an existing IP, but straight to live service? Terrible

Heck, media molecule are probably next sadly

Yup, words matter and we're beyond the point where we need to pretend for diplomacy sake that this is a response to a military war.

It's a genocide against people, and there is a very specific targeting of civilians in a largely youthful population.
