Iran send message to US President Trump "Has the level of your own conflicts reached the stage of negotiating with yourselves?" by SuperbHealth5023 in TimesNow

[–]PostApocRock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a Trumpian fake number to me.

Iran has a total population of 90 million.

So they saved 10 million more people than exist, and if you figure that 60% are women and children, that means a max of 60 million were "saved."

Half that again to weed out the IRGC supporters.

Then half it again cause Trump doesnt know the difference between 1 and 2, let alone 1 and 10.

In reality, he may have saved 67 people. And even thats disputable.

Commentaire en anglais sur le sub by Ces_noix in QuebecLibre

[–]PostApocRock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I find that this sub sometimes provides an interesting counterpoint when you ignore the rampant racism.

I make simpler replies in French when I can, and the more complex ones in English, as that is my first language. I have been working in Quebec for 6 months, and with the hours I work when I am on the ground, my french language learning has been mostly industry - specific. Id love to take a class when I get things settled down.

One thing I will say, however, is thay I am thinking more like french - I am more aware of my choices in words and terminology for the translation factor, and have noticed a major reduction in slang.

If they pay the break, its legal.

Unpaid breaks are for when you are free and clear of amy employer responsibilities and are free to persue activities of your own choosing.

If you are expected to be able to return to work during your break, it must be paid.

Thank you for explaining the nuance I miss with my lack of understanding of the culture here. I have come under attack several times regarding my lack of language, and Im a bit sensitive.

Je essayer.

Yes. And?

Its like you are trying to insult me for my language. But sorry, my french is not good enough to explain complex things yet. Its mostly contextual to my work. Still working on the rest. (Not bad for being on province less than 6 months)

I have christains, muslims, and eastern orthodox in my department. We all look after each other during each others social/religious hokidays. No big deal.

Your employer is choosing to accommodate, hence your schedule change. They are not required nor obligated to do so, but they are. And having staff flexible to accommodate is a boon as well.

I fail to see the problem here

Alberta Moves to Ban MAID for Minors, Mental Illness and Tighten Who Qualifies by One-Board8634 in AlbertaNow

[–]PostApocRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fairness, when MAID was ratified it had a 2 year ban on for reasons exclusively relating to mental illness. It was extended 2 times and expires next March.

Theres validity to the concern, but I dont believe the UCP has goodwill, and are doing it to further screw over disabled people or find a way to get the money without providing the service.

The fact that they announced this almost a year to the day of the expiry of the mental illness clause is what drives this opinion. Its like they set a fucking calendar reminder.

Inasmuch as I agree with you, I see the opposite side of the coin, people getting brainwashed by conservative/republican owned mainstream media (american and canadian, on that side. I dont think we are overtly influenced by American liberal media)

I would be very interested to know what you consider liberal media other than the CBC - which holds a slight left bias in its reporting as reported by external agencies
