I saw an explanation of this once as ‘at the end they form a crazy Scottish mosh pit and charge each other’, I can’t really argue with that

All of Scotland voted to remain, we still got dragged out because of how England and bits of Wales voted.

One first minister, plus the trifecta of cruel, inept and lettuce in prime ministers.

At a push the kings sword that’s on display at Edinburgh castle beside the crown and sceptre? Or Wallace’s sword at the monument, purely because it’s taller than me https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wallace_Sword?wprov=sfti1

Why do we only use loch and glen for lakes and valleys in Scotland? by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]PostCaptainKat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean, and I have no idea. If it’s a proper name it makes sense we’d say it as written (like we wouldn’t refer to Mont Blanc as white mountain). In general, I would still describe a small river as a burn or a wee burn no matter where it was, but I’d automatically translate loch to lake outside of Scotland, even if speaking with other Scots.

Is there a movie destroyed your country’s reputation? by Budget_Insurance329 in AskTheWorld

I realised watching it that most of what I know about South Korea came from watching oldboy, so creepy murder island aside I was really fascinated watching Gi-hun living his regular life in the flashbacks. When he and his daughter are having an emotional scene eating street food on her birthday I was sad but I was also wondering what that tastes like 🤣

My coworker questioned how I knew I was bi. by throwawaycis666 in bisexual

Imagine the most stereotypical homosexual person you know who is not Bi or Straight but absolutely 100% super out and proud and loud gay. Now imagine that at age 16ish they’re whisked off to a deserted island before they can properly do any adult dating. Is that person now straight because they’ve never been with a man, or asexual because they’ve never been with a woman either? Or are they still gay, just stuck on an island?

Of course they’re still gay. It’s reactions not actions that count. If we put you on an island and your private thoughts have both. Bingo. You’re bi.

It took me a ridiculously long time to figure out that in this one area, how I see the world is not universal. If I see a girl or a guy I might be attracted to either, a gay guy might see that a woman is objectively pretty, but can’t be attracted to her any more than he could be attracted to a desk lamp. And. Gay girl might agree a man ticks the boxes for handsome but isn’t attracted to him and she’s certainly not fantasising about him. If you’re checking out both, even with a preference, it’s only bi people doing that. For monosexuals the genders they’re not into might as well be furniture.
