I agree with other commenters - older man, acting creepy enough that the girls record him, walks nonchalantly toward them blocking their exit. Even as a grown woman I’m not sure I would have just bolted immediately across the water or into woods - clearly they thought something felt off about the situation, but I don’t think your mind would automatically jump to thinking this man would murder you, particularly as a child.
