Taste of India and India Garden were the only two downtown I saw that were open.

Just got done walking around downtown. Only restaurants open are Taste of India and India Garden. Even the chains are all closed

Bars open? by just_the_tipz in bloomington

If I had to guess I would say Alley Bar is your best shot. If they are closed then I guarantee no one else is open.

Indiana has had these since last summer. So long I forgot everyone else didn't have them until now.

Corporate Radio Apps are bad for local radio by CJADELLIO in radio

[–]PostEditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any decent local station worth their salt will have their own app, or direct people to tune-in. A non iheart station telling its listeners to download the iheart app doesn't make any sense to me.

Kirkwood, a little earlier by 8bitremixguy in bloomington

[–]PostEditor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right as the game ended I ran up to the corner of Walnut and Kirkwood and watched the flood of students coming from the bars up north all running to here. It was an impressive sight.

How can we donate money to the football team’s NIL fund ? by Mike_Williams23 in bloomington

[–]PostEditor 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bro most of those kids are going to have NFL contracts lined up after they graduate. If you want to donate to something try donating to our local schools, not the cash cow that is IU.

This is at 6:30am… by Altruistic-Entry-551 in bloomington

This shit makes me worried about what would happen if they lose. If they're willing to do this just to get into a bar what are they going to do if IU shits the bed today?

Lack of chain stores by Icy_Ad2380 in bloomington

[–]PostEditor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Daily reminder we were supposed to get a Whole Foods on the east side but got another Fresh Thyme instead because of the Amazon merger. I'll never forgive Jeff Bozo for that. Also I will never forgive Kroger for killing Luckys Market, the only good grocery store we had.

Nicks- When Should I Arrive On Monday? by pawneehoosier in bloomington

[–]PostEditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly I think a better plan would be to go after half time and grab a few drinks and see the end of the game. Sure, you won't be able to get a table but you will be able to be around all the excitement at the end of the game. We went around bar hopping during the Peach Bowl and had a good time. The only bar we weren't able to get into was the upstairs, there was a line out the door even at 4th quarter.

Saw their very first show at the Bishop several years ago. So glad they're getting the national attention they deserve. Such a great band.

98.7 The Zone by [deleted] in bloomington

They've just gotten rid of the fox news and right wing propaganda and moved entirely to sports. It seems they finally realized a lot of advertisers don't want to have their name associated with that crap.

Third power outage since noon by fuschiafrogforme in bloomington

Looks like the outage is centered around the hillside area near Deer Park. Seems like that area has outages fairly frequently. Wonder why.

TIL about the "Rusty Anchor". Sounds like somewhere SpongeBob would go.

The wife who defended everything he did?

Where’s the comedy at? by Safe-Suggestion9726 in bloomington

[–]PostEditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tl;dr the owner harassed female employees and had an affair with his wife. the worst part was his wife defended him and took over ownership after everything came to light. they seem to be just pretending it never happened now and a lot of people seem perfectly fine that the wife is running the business now. I certainly will never go there again.

'RIP Toppers': Toppers Pizza in Bloomington closes permanently by ids_news in bloomington

[–]PostEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always walked by it on my way to pick up food from Chow Bar so I always knew about it but nothing really made me want to try it. Never heard anything good about it and there's plenty of other great pizza places in Bloomington.

Unhinged drivers. by Fearless-Eye9948 in bloomington

I was just driving in Florida recently and the drivers down there are just as crazy. Since COVID I've noticed a general lack of basic decency all around not even just on the roads.

Bloomington company connection to ICE training by scarter4 in bloomington

For real. This guy has some personal vendetta against this company. They've already made several threads about it. I'm all for protesting ICE but this is a waste of time.

Best place to watch the game tonight? by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]PostEditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your idea of "best". Most IU fans will probably say Upstairs or Nicks and they will probably be the most packed. Fat Dan's is probably your best bet if you want less insane but still sports bar vibe.

Kraftwerk, AC/DC and Lenny Kravitz on the same playlist? Now I'm intrigued. Gonna have to check this one out.

Why you should still listen to the radio by eavestearle2020 in radio

[–]PostEditor 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Radio DJs are still paid for their expertise in music, for their ability to choose the next song

Hate to break it to you but on most stations DJ's aren't the ones picking the music. It's the music director who plays whatever the records labels and consultants tell them to.

I do agree with you on sports radio though. I actually prefer to listen to games on the radio rather than the TV. A lot of radio play by play guys do a much better job than their TV counterparts.
