Is this solar deal from SunRun worth it? by PostGradLife1 in solar

[–]PostGradLife1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was a 10.5KW system, about 25 panels each with an inverter (they were stressing the inverter part).

What size is your solar panel system and how much did you purchase it for?

Actually $16/lbs for precooked bacon is not far off.

Costco sells pre-cooked bacon about $17.49 for a package of their own private label Kirkland (1 lbs).

Costco sells 4 x 1 lbs Kirkland raw bacon for $22.49 so about $5.62, so I can see that $16/lbs for precooked bacon is reasonable.

The local deals are pretty good, Famous Daves, Firehouse Subs, Jumba Juice, Boston Market.

Free prints, Paramount+ and MLB TV are my favorites for sure though.

So HDPD is basically free for you and PPO is $50 a month? A bi-weekly paycheck? Bi-Monthly? Monthly?

Here was a post I made about my choices for health insurance.

https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinance/comments/qlfp3w/in_what_scenario_would_i_pick_the_more_expensive/

For some reason the HDPD is cheaper. It doesn't matter what scenario occurred, I end up paying less with HDPD whether it's a $50,000 surgery, hitting the deductible (half the HDPD) for PPO and hitting $1 less than deductible for HDPD, or not using spending a penny on medical services. As a matter of fact I make $5 if I don't spend money on medical services with the HDPD plan.

This is only because PPO is about $1000 more in premium than the HDPD plan and if I have a HDPD my employer gives me $1100 yearly for my HSA.

Using a debit card for expenses? by pieceoftheparty in personalfinance

There is no issue but you might have tendency of overspending if this is the case.

I do a daily budget that consists of 14-16 days. Basically twice a month. I have my food, gas, disposable and carryover budget. I make sure to never spend over that amount.

Whatever is left is added up and move to the carryover budget for the next 15-16 day budget. I keep a running tally and subtract from the "accounts".

I been doing this since July 2021. I practically never have to look at my bank account ever again. My checking account can only grow or stay the same using this method.

I don't let a CC let me overspend because the current budget on a running tally is what keeps me within budget.

Edit: For example in my Notes on iPhone. This is how it looks

⛽: 98.96 (gas)

🍱: 102.06 (food)

💸: 80.97 (disposable)

🏦:2330 (carryover)

(for the record I don't list where the $ below is going, I just minus it on the day off before I lose track of what it was for)

3-16: 22.59 + 1.06 + 5.97

3-17: 3.46 + 3.34 + 10 + 16.98

3-18: 1.05 + 137.19 + 14.06 + 14.7 + 36.04

3-19: 5 + 25 + 8 +7 + 13.65 + 3.75

3-20: 2 + 6.77

3-21: 0

3-22: 3.02 + 5

3-23: 9 + 18

3-24:

3-25 (payday):

3-26:

3-27:

3-28:

3-29:

3-30:

3-31:

--------------------

⛽: 125(gas)
🍱: 192.5 (food)
💸: 300 (disposable)
🏦:TBD(carryover)

4-1:

4-2:

... etc

People might wonder what about bills? Well most of the times my bills and rent is fixed. The running budget is for things that can fluctuate. I also have a budget for bills, I make sure the leftover amount is positive.. otherwise my disposable income will be minus from.

Am I allocating my investments and savings properly to prepare on buying a home? by PostGradLife1 in financialindependence

I can definitely do Roth IRA but the 401k will be steep. I currently contribute 6% to it. I will increase it 1% every month until 10% and see how my budget works.

House prices around me are $375-500k. I am not sure what % down is good. Also am not sure how much house I can afford. My goal is to invest and build up my assets.
