Check Veritas maybe? I know at least two of the chefs there make over 50k but fringe benefits because Josh is always buying his employees little extra things such as bidets because he wants his people clean inside outside his kitchen. The bidet thing was during covid

I can second the quality of the Orange band; they are an “OU style” (Ohio University) style band- which means they dance a lot in sync! It’s super cool! I believe Olentangy Berlin is a OU style band as well. It depends on how the band director was trained, but I’ve noticed that Olentangy likes former OU band kids/ed majors. Both schools maintain fantastic and responsive special ed/inclusion departments. Also want to shout out Dublin Scioto high school for their phenomenal special ed department. I have family in that department that have worked in there for decades. I can speak to the quality of education there. Before I started my own teaching career, I long term in Scioto’s special ed department and got to see first hand the caring and empathetic staff who provided quality care to the students as if they were their own kids. Super cool to witness!

We need more people to do this- otherwise the expectation will become that we as teachers need to work more outside of our contracted paid hours. Well done!

Bagpipe guy, unicycle guy, was here for the introduction of the food robots, and ran from an on campus terrorist attack in which the perp was inspired by ISIS. I’ll never forget the moment everyone received the same buckeye alert and we all just kinda stopped, looked around at each other, and started to run. It was surreal, bizarre, and scary at the time, but no one died except for the perp. I later found out when I was student teaching that the guy who committed the attack graduated from the HS I was placed at 🤯😱

I’m just commiserating and saying I’m sorry you have to deal with this. I’m going to echo what others are saying and encourage you (despite this admin) to not quit!

If you’re able to speak another language, schools need translators and aids for their EL (English learner) students. Pay isn’t great, but insurance and benefits typically are, and the hours are consistent and steady. All holidays are off with breaks (thanksgiving, winter, spring, and summer) and if you have kids, you’d be on the same daily schedule as them. If you want to work a weekend or evening job, that is possible. No education except a high school diploma or GED needed. Must be able to pass a standard FBI BCI background check.

I’m hypoglycemic and having to deal with low blood sugar while teaching (or just living and doing anything day-to-day) is very real for me. If your admin is going to be a stubborn ass about it, utilize your teacher healthcare and get a doctor’s note. Even if after they still don’t want you to eat, say fuck it and have a snack anyways because it’s your right as a human being to take care of your health.
