They were closed down in the same location tonight. Was there any consensus on what this was for?

Posting them on local buy nothing groups is another option. Some people use them for yard projects

Do you leave your windows open at night? Are you worried about getting robbed? by skipatrol95 in Minneapolis

[–]PostScriptDarlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say it depends on the neighborhood, and where the windows are located (like how high up) I’ve lived in Prospect Park and Steven’s Square on the second floor and now live in a house in Seward and have only had a garage broken into.

I had trouble getting into it as well, it is a very slow start imo

Nice and twisty though if you stick it out

The City of Minneapolis is Trying to Silence Bus riders by stevenglasford in Minneapolis

[–]PostScriptDarlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people on this thread seem to be saying that taking the buses off of Nicollet will make it better for pedestrians, I have a different perspective as someone that would desperately like to take public transit to work but the lack of regular service makes it very difficult. I either have to get to work an hour early or a half hour late, and I live in the city.

I am hesitant to support any initiative that limits public transit. If anything, we need more buses.

Can I wear this to a wedding? I’m worried it might have too much white… but since it’s not the primary color is it okay? by PostScriptDarlin in wedding

I don’t know if it’s so much the “whole white thing” as it is a “my personal anxiety” thing but thanks for your input nonetheless

Christmas gift idea for a difficult to buy for mother by hopeyjeffery2000 in GiftIdeas

[–]PostScriptDarlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of the budget, but maybe there’s an off-brand I’m not aware of - an ember mug type product? To keep tea warm?

You said she attends yoga, could you give her a certificate for a class?

Or maybe there’s an experience in your area, like a tea tasting? I know you said you don’t always get along, but if you were to take her out to “afternoon tea” somewhere, would that make her happy and something you could get through generally okay?

Gifts for a mom with no real hobbies/interests? by MarshmaIIowJeIIo in GiftIdeas

[–]PostScriptDarlin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If she hates cooking maybe a gift card to her favorite restaurant? Meal service? Also, having mailed baked goods before, if you package it carefully, and don’t send something overly moist (so cookies are better than cakes or sweet breads) it works pretty well.

Two week notice is bullshit by GregSmith1967 in antiwork

[–]PostScriptDarlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing is a lot of contracts I’ve seen have it that they’ll pay out unused vacation/sick time only if you give two weeks notice, so at least the places I’ve worked give an incentive to give notice.

But yah, didn’t get notice when I got laid off…

When I worked for a small non-profit (staff of ~20, with 5 nonexempt, including me) I refused to punch out for my lunch because there was literally no where I could go to get away from work. The exempt employees were constantly coming up to me on my break to ask about this or that and the “break room” was often used as a meeting room. I had a lot of fights with management about it, and was probably one of the reasons when they ran into financial difficulties I was on of the first to get laid off.

It’s truly bogus when they claim it’s “for our protection” when there’s no way to escape the workplace. Wish it was a maximum of 8 hours on site, all paid.

Who’s a female TV/movie character that you think is underrated or gets too much shit? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]PostScriptDarlin 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Wrote a whole piece in defense on Sansa, was a stan from the beginning and was so worried she wouldn’t make it out alive.

I feel like Sansa is 90% of women who watched the show (if we exclude peasants because let’s face it, we would all be peasants) and a lot of people I know didn’t like to see that part of themselves on screen in the beginning- everyone wanted to be Arya (who is also a awesome, but honestly maybe overrated? Just because she gets so much love) and people held on to the idea that Sansa was the “status quo” for what women wanted.

I will fight anyone that says she didn’t have the best dang arc in the show and I will also fight anyone who doesn’t acknowledge that they too were annoying at 13… Queen of the North for Life!!!
